+ 2 SUMMERS RITE AROUND THE CORNER!!!! and kicking bad habits
So with summer being right around the corner i am preparing for the best summer of my life, definatley the most fit ive ever been. I have a new bike, a tan im working on and a brand new body. We all have obstacles we need to over come and mine is with smoking cigarettes. I have been smoking since I was 11 years old (i know i know, i had older brothers who thought it was cool so I joined the band wagon stealing cigarettes from my mom. This year I am trying to kick the habit and im not having that much luck, I know i cant be the only one on here who smokes or has quit and would like some help. Its frustrating when im at the gym and i get winded. This is something im going to do i just need some helpful advice. I want to try the patch but I dont have health insurance yet. Does anyone have any idea on where to get patches? It would be great if some of our sources carried them. I wanna be as healthy as possible, i dont wanna deal with any more health issues from smoking. I have came a long way, i want to feel 100%, any suggestions?

AnonI tried chantix about 4 yrs ago and got really depressed and had suicidal thoughts, on a side note I ended up quiting. It the effects were so bad my doctor asked me to start smoking again. I guess it just wasn't my time yet. Been smoking since , I make sure I do as much cardio as I can to keep my lungs open and heart stable. It sounds rediculous but it works for me. Do yourself a favor if you decide it's time just set it in your mind and quit. Good luck to all who is going through this.
Yeah tried the whole chantex thing! Works, But will leteraly make you crazy. Don't do chantex!
I have been quite for over 8 months now and i used the patch! You can get it at walgreens... and if you can afford to smoke you can afford the ptaches! Quite smoking , save that doe, and put it towards your health! I did and look at me now!

i have tried smoking those patches. nasty they taste awful.. all jokes aside for me its not that had to stop smoking till i have a drink. just cant drink without a pack of cigs.
That should make it easier. Don't drink!
Bro I quit smoking a year ago, it was time ya know,.I work at a hospital and most of the people I associate with are non smokers....so when ur the only one who takes extra breaks and come back smelling like shitty cigerettes...the pressure to quit really helps get the ball rolling. I started with that E-cig and that's worked for a month then I started to use snus while at work...once everyone caught on I was peer pressured to stop....bro peer pressure got me started...peer pressure got me to quit....plain and ssimple, I admit I am influenced by those around me, id be a fool to say otherwise...we constantly are forced to conform to social norms, so if ur really serious u need to surround urself with positive influence. They say "you are the company you keep." its a support structure type thing. Get ur friends to quit with you...start hanging more with thr friends who don't smoke...think about how bad it is for you as your in the gym trying to be healthy and shit...whenever I used to work out then light a cig afterwards...I just felt like GUH NASTY! LoL, dude its totally possible and relatively easy as long as you can get thru the retraining of ur habit. Do push ups everytime an urge comes, that electronic cig worked really good for the first month. But you have to train ur brain to associate smoking with bad smell, poor health, waste of money...ya kno? Learn to despise the cigerettes
My step father smoked for 40 years and tried the patch and gum and nothing..He tried actupuncture and stopped that same day. He hasn't touched a cigarette in 25 years..Try it!!
I don't know if that will work, Pope don't like needles. LOL
Sorry Pope, just threw a lil joke into a serious topic.
LMMFAO maybe they have the butterfly ones so i wont feel it, just the thought of pentatrating the skin with a needle give me the willys ha ha
"can you dip those needles in deca??" :-)
or maybe even some of that prop i hear you guys talkig about, i have been drunk as hell getting advice from you guys after yall keep telling me just take cyp, never mentioning what to take a cyp of Im assuming it alcohol related considering yall keep misspelling sip with "cyp" ha ha
thank you guys for all your support, never thought id have as many people comments such possative encouragement, although it is really appreciated. this web site has become a part of my every day life, real or not it helps me and to me thats all that matters.
OE2000Maybe you should try bunk cigs from Ryans gurlfriend! LOL Naw man, just fing with you..... I used to smoke as well, and the ONLY thing that got me to quit, was a coughing fit in the shower one morning that I threw up blood and what appeared to be a piece of lung, that honeycomb looking stuff.... it was gross, and I swore off smoking for good! Good luck brother, hope it doesn't take something this drastic to happen to you to quit that shit, .... but its definitely NOT easy..... simple, but not easy!
tread-mJust got a little vomit on my collar!
OE2000the kiosk has inflatable vomits now...... they may have deflatable collarz ... so your ass better hurry!
good luck guy! i used to smoke also, it was so fucking hard to quit but its been 6 mnths now smoke free , i used nicorette gum it really helped the electric cigs are pretty good to
I've never been a smoker but I dipped copenhagen for 20+ years. About 6 years ago it started getting on my nerves & I decided to quit cold turkey (wtf does that really mean?). I was a VERY ill Fucker for a couple months & it caused me countless arguments with my wife. But I overcame it & im very glad. I also did the same thing with drinking.........fuckem both!! Best of luck Pope. Its mostly mental.
Jab
i was a heavy smoker , 2 packs a say since i was 18, i am 35 now... i have been smokeing those electronic cigarettes and i havent had a real cigarette since last march... they work really good
DAMN AMERICANS!!!!! oh yeah, im one too lol, yeah it sounds funny to me to but his principle is worth hearing ;)
The patches made me ill as fuck i had to stop em. There is a spray you spray in your mouth when you are craving and tbh for me it is working quite well im down to 2-3 a day from 40
Here's my experience with smoking.
Yeah it f#cking sucks, i smoked from the age of 14 to about 25 at which point i was getting through 50-60 fags a day, more at the weekends.
Tried all the gums and patches and sh#t, nothing worked. Then I met a guy at the gym who offered me some gear, i decided to have a proper shot at gaining some mass/getting fit and I gave up cold turkey in under a week. Sounds cheesy as fuck but at that point gear really turned my life around, i went from a 60 a day smoker drinking 2-3 bottles of whiskey a week and eating crap to being a 24/7 muscled health nut having the time of my life.
Anyway I'm getting side tracked here.......
The physical cravings were gone real quick but I never shifted the mental cravings though. Even 6 years later I was still craving a smoke all the f#cking time. Dreams were the worst, i'd dream about enjoying a nice pack'o smokes and when i woke up it was like i'd never quit.
'bout a year or two ago I started back up smoking cigars and it took a real bat to my health, after a few weeks i was on my arse, to the point were i couldn't do my job because i was getting so out of breath. At that point realised i had to give up and start training again. Things have improved a lot and weirdly for the first time in my life i don't crave smoking at all, which i put down to the health scare.
All in all smoking was about the worst decision in life I ever made, quitting was one of the best. A heartfelt good luck to all the bros trying to quit, hope you have it easier than i did.
Mate we have a drug down here in Oz called champix. It has had very good results for people wanting to quit smoking. You still smoke while you take the pills but after about 2 weeks when ever you have a smoke it makes you feel crook. So your body then associates the smoking to the feeling and you just stop smoking due to the ill feeling. The one pit fall is you need to complete the course of pills. Stopping early has a very high failure rate, however when the full course of pills is taken the success rate is very high. I feel the patches are of little benefit. You are still absorbing the addictive chemical of nicotine. So when the patches stop the smoking begins. Good luck with mate.
bra that sounds like something i need, im tired of it, it is a hard habit to break, for sum harder than others. Im going to do it, just would like advice on how
I smoked for 14 years. I just got tired of it and stopped. For me it was mind over matter. I just told myself it was time and to stop making excuses. I really don't think there is a magic pill that helps. You just have to remind yourself why this is impotent to you. The only thing that really helped me was to stay away from people who smoke. I was a closet smoker. I was so embarrassed about it I never did it around my friends or family. It was almost a secret, or I thought so anyway. However, if I was around others that smoked I could do it as much as I wanted and I didn't feel bad. I just stayed away from those people. It really seemed to help.
Well I am not sure how your system works over there. But over here you go to your doc and get in on prescription. But we can only get it at a reduced price once. If you stuff it the first time you pay full price the second time around. Might need to just google it and ask a local doc how it goes over there
Here in the US bro it's called chantix(spelling?). I work with a lady who quit using it. She was a bigtime chain smoker. It's been almost two years and she's still not smoking. It might be worth the trip to a free clinic and see if u can get a script. Pay the cost if it's manageable. Smoking is the hardest to quit, ur doing the right thing already by reaching out for advice. Good luck brutha!
thanks brother, in the state i live in i found out last night they offer a free progam to its residence, i looked it up online last night and called them, they are sending me 2 weeks of free patches (nicoderm CQ) so i figured that was a start. They can help me get other free products to help me quit. it should be here within a week or so (must be coming from UK lol)
Bro, stay away from chantix...it makes certain people go fucking crazy. Straight up. Gives u nightmares before u fall asleep n u get depressed and irritable...just learn new behavior don't use chantix...its like one of those too good to be true drugs...except its not...lol...it makes most people nuts.
Anonyou don't want chantix the side effects can make you quite unstable ... stay away from that shit... why everyone wants a freaking magic pill is quite ridiculous... Pope, you have to want to quit.. really want to, not just pay lip service to quiting but want to do so way deep down inside. You have to be tired of smelling like smoke, smoke on your hands your clothes, you home, your car.. all up in your nose.. you have to be tired of it.. really ready to say you just don't want to anymore. Have you ever kissed a smoker? It is like licking an ashtray.. quite disgusting really.. no offense inteneded to those of you who smoke ..it is what it is. ..
its easier said then done grrrrl lol, i have smoked for a long time, its just like us using steroids, your gonna have to want to in the 1st place but at the same time theres a point to where you need that extra boost to help you along your way. I dont smoke in my car nor in my home, my wife hates cig smoke as shes never been a smoker, im really respectful when it comes to her not wanting to be around it. Im going to quit but i am checking into all my options to help me quit. Like i said before i started when i was 11 years old and have quit one time before like 10 years ago. it lasted for about 3 weeks and i started right back up. I want my health in check thats my main concern ;)
Cmon Pope, look what you've accomplished with bodybuilding, you can do this, its easy, its not like struggling through another set or making sure you get to the gym.
Just don't do it. Don't buy them, don't lite them. Chew Gum, play with a toothpick that's how I did it WAAAAYYYY back. When cigs hit $1 a pack that was that. Just think of all the extra money you'll have now for gear! ;-P Your probably smoking a bottle or 2 worth per week.
Here is a link with some ideas for free patches:

thanks bra, i have to give you the thumbs up on that on it was help as hell
bro i know the feeling. back in 2004 i had a bad car accident that left me in the bed for 6 months. which also got me hooked on pain pills at the same time. mind you i was smoking at this time as well. i remember looking out the window and thinking my life has went to shit. so i took the next month i was down and locked myself away. quit pain pills quit smoking all at once. it was the hardest thing of my life. you can do it bro.
ZEEK33I quit about a year 1/2 ago.. but i only smoked for 3 yeas. I was a pack a day smoker and I did use the non smoking patch from walmat, and you can get them anywhere.. I was ready to stop smokng! i have a girl friend that helped me by telling me everyday to quit! and she hated it! so I got the patch and used Step 1 2X and Step 2 2x and step 3 1x and by then months went past and i didnt have a smoke at all... so when i got off the last patch i was gtg and didnt want a Cig at all. and it was all out of my body and i didnt want to go back... And thats it. good luck!
MultipurposeI used the patch before and they worked very well, I also had a strong will to quit. I used the walmart brand patches as they were the cheapest. After six weeks following the program laid out in the brochure that came with the patch, I stopped the patch too. After that I had absolutely no cravings and was gold until my girl decided to start smoking again months later and I decided to try one, Haha, bad mistake. Sometimes I get pissed thinking about it, they shouldn't be allowed to sell something so addictive. Also, if you get health insurance, everybody I know that has used chantix has been very successful quitting.
I quit in 2007 after 17 years of smoking. Get your mind right and feel determined...look at smoking as a weakness. Then you wait until Friday after work. Slow your smoking down as drastically as you can until you go to bed. Before you go to bed flush your remaining cigarettes (they will be too much temptation). Then try to sleep as long as you can the next day. As a matter of fact, try to sleep as much as you can that entire weekend. By the time Monday comes around you should be okay enough to go out into society without flipping out on somebody. Hard parts done, it only gets easier. Now...6 months from now you will start to stop craving cigarette. 6 months after that, when other people smoke it will smell like you just snorted old ash from an ashtray. Congratulations, you are now a non-smoker!!! Like I said, get your mind right and feel determined...look at smoking as a weakness.
AnonFuck the dumbshit man. Patches and all that are to make money, they don't really want you to quit. YOU HAVE TO WANT YOU TO QUIT.
I quit when I was 33 and never smoked again. Just stop smoking.
Thats how i did just quit its hard but like the doc says you have to want to quit you can do it i smoke for 10 years and quit havent smoked in 4 years
I feel ur pain bro....it took my first born for me to stop smoking (cold turkey). I'm not telling u to have a kid tho..lol. Hang in there bro u can do it...
Freeze
tread-mYou're the Pope brother, this aint nothin but a thang!
the MUTHA FUCKIN POPE brother....remember lol
I quit last year and there are programs where you can take smoking cessation classes and they give the patch or the gum for free as long as you go to the classes i found one at my local health department just something to look into
Get 2 patchs and stick one over each eye,it wont make you quit but theres no way your gonna find the packet of smokes lol
I smoke too,its the hardest thing trying to quit, good luck brother
AnonIn 2010 i quit for 8 months 27 days cold turkey started when i was 13. Try going cold turkey, its only the first few days that are hard 2-4 days or try those electronic smokes i heard they feel like the real thing.
JonBDo you live in the UK? The NHS does the patches on prescription. They also do a free quit kit.
Its bad because i get embarressed about smoking when im around people
