Shoes for various workouts/life
What type of shoes do you guys prefer for lifts/leg day?
Cardio?
General wear?
I have always been a fan of lifting in flats, but just found an older pair of Otomix MX 4444’s for $19.50 on eBay and had to get them! They are the high tops with slightly elevated soles but made for bodybuilding/lifting. Had a huge pop back in the 90’s & early 2000’s when Cutler started repping them, but haven’t personally had a pair in over a decade.
For runs I’ve just always used whatever generic trainers I’ve had on hand. The most recent I’ve been using are the adrenalines from Brooks. Nice cushion and with me having a wide foot the width options are very nice.
Day to day and being in Texas I have a handful of boots some for work some for dress.
Have a few pairs of slides & flip flops for around the house/post-gym/lake days/etc.
Those are the main categories I can think of and are what I wear the most- mostly interested in what you guys prefer for leg days & cardio, but I’m always interested in hearing about kicks! I used to collect Jordan’s and be a major sneaker head, but definitely phased out of it as I grew up.

Only for squat day. Super comfy when lifting heavy

HUBBLEBUMBUM AND FIDDLEETEEDEE!!! ILL TICKLE YOUR BALLS AND 3 WISHES MUST YE GRANT ME!!!! Wish 1: TURN ME GAY!!!
Omg...hahaha! Winning
Full garage gym so Crocs most of the time. To be honest I wear these around the house for anything. The ultimate home feet armor
@DeeMan @OogieBoogie @Sithx66 @FartDracula @Black90tsi
Got them and first workout was decent for how light I was going! The slightly elevated heel is minimal and you barely notice it until you’re going deep in squats. There is so much damn cushion and ankle support I am really impressed. Now I wouldn’t pay the $199.99 they’re asking new, but for $19.50 on eBay I’m a happy man!
These actually look really fashionable. I'd be cool wearing these everywhere. Good deal getting them for $20. Honestly I don't think anyone who doesn't have a retard bugman brain would pay the new price for them.
They do look nice and new. I'd wear them but I won't wear a few other shoes that I've seen in some of those magazines
Just looked to see what they had and I found otomix red stingrays. They look fresh as fuck!
Man I'm not gonna lie Smurf's shoes look great but those red stingrays look like ugly shit to me. I do think they would look good only on you because you have that freak ass aesthetic that would draw out the visual value in otherwise tacky ass drip (I mean that sincerely I'm not taking a jab at your weird tongue).
That was a steal. Now you’ll never train without them.
Haha is that how you are with your D-mak’s? They look pretty similarly designed when I looked at them online. Have heard great things about Ryder wear in general
Very similar. I’ve had Otomix in the past, both great training shoes. Anything with legs feels a lot better with these shoes, squats, leg press, calves. I even like them when I bench to grip into the floor.
I’ve been wearing Ryderwear for years to train in. They feel great to squat in them.
Which ones you got?
D-Mak Originals in Black
Nike alpha Max trainer 5s. That is all I'll wear in the gym anymore. Whether lifting or cardio, it's my go to
Those look pretty nice! As of now I wear some flat foot Levi shoes. They pretty much look like vans but found them at Ross for cheap. And well I’m cheap lmao!
I’d really like to buy some ryderwear d-mak carbon fibres in all black. I love the way they look! They give a similar feel to the ones you posted
Oh yeah I’ve seen those around too. Hadn’t thought of Otomix in a longgg time just happened to stumble across em for a good price!
Been praying for ya man!
I always lift in flats. For cardio/running, if Brooks are your thing, cool. I used to always wear Brooks. I swapped to Altra (specifically the Paradigm) a few years ago and I will never go back. I’m a uniform guy, and have done my fair share of unwanted cardio and they solved a lot of the overuse injuries I used to get from running.
I’ll have to look into them!
converse lows or flip flops
Converse are my go to sole, but I prefer the Hightops
Damn that's when you know you're a workout freak. That Otomix brand is popular. Been popular for years. I remember seeing those in bodybuilding magazines even as a kid.
Nah only workout shoes for me are my Under armour and New balance shoes, which are the most comfortable shoes.
That’s exactly where I first heard of them! When I saw an old school pair for $19.50 in my size I had to haha. The same style is $199 new on their website even today.
NB are so comfy! They’re so called “dad shoes”, but I’m well past the point of fashion and have moved into functionality and comfortability all the way
Yeah I always kinda saw NB as dad's shoe but the price always turned me off. Nowadays NB are just athletic shoes like any other athlete shoe and hell yeah they're comfy. Like you said functionality and comfortable is what matters....but also Smurf my shoes gotta look good, lol can't be looking like those Grandpa shoes with one velcro strap in the front. Nah way too early for that lol. No disrespect to Grandpas
I agree that New Balance are the most comfortable. My foot is super wide so I almost can’t wear anything else for running shoes.
These aren't mine but I want them. They don't look like Dad shoes to me.....well depending on how high pants are sitting on hips lol. You know that past the belly button look of some Dad's lol. Nah I'm good on that lol
These are looking pretty nice. My dad had the same ones but in all white and I gotta say even at 80 years old I thought he was looking pretty cool when he was rocking those.
Seen many dads rocking these and usually they have bigger calves then the young bucks.
Yeah I mean you probably have but shoes still look good. And yeah always bigger calves I agree.
Thing is the thing, I just started wearing New Balance last year. Damn how did I go that long missing out?!! Most comfortable shoes ever.
My feet are wide also. As an athlete I always wore either Reebok or Nike but nothing compares to NB.
I typically add jump rope to the end of my leg days. I am also flat footed. My training shoes of choice are the born primitive savage 1. I really appreciate the wide toe box. I find these to be very comfortable. I used to wear Nike metcons for my short stint into crossfit

I wear some flat soled Xero sneakers most days. On squat day i wear some cheap running sneakers so i don't have to throw a couple 5 lb weights under my heels. I really like the "barefoot" sneakers though. They took a couple days to get used to. But once i did i noticed my lower back bothered me less than it did when wearing regular old nikes running shoes. Other than my 1 old ratty pair of running shoes all of my shoes are flat soled. My winter boots, dress shoes and sneakers are all this way. I did find that some of them tend to wear through the soles faster. Some of my Xero shoes had to be replaced in about a year of daily use. When i pay $100 for shoes i expect them to last longer than that. Some of the Whitins ones i get off Amazon are only $40 or so and i'm cool with those needing to be replaced in 12-18 months.
I will say some of my favorite sneakers ever, and longest lasting, were the original Nike Shox. Those things lasted me 5+ years per pair. Considering how much they cost they really should last for years though.
I wear my jordans for everything, my favorite gym shoe is a pair of jordan 1's or jordan 5's but if I'm doing cardio I wear a pair of air max ltd the flat soles on the jordans have my shin splints on fire if try to wear them for cardio.
Chucks for everything.
I wear flip flops (Rainbows) about 75% of the time. I have a pair of flat soled mountain bike shoes that I wear at the gym and for commuting and a pair of clipless cycling shoes for road biking. Then I have one pair of Blundstone boots and a pair of dress shoes and that’s it. If they’d let me walk around barefoot I would. I’ve tried about half a dozen kinds of “barefoot shoes” and none of them really work for me. I like wearing flip flops and just kicking them off when I get the chance.
I stay rocking some High/Mid Top, Flat Bottom Vans for all the gym purposes. Get 2 pairs for $90.
I really want a pair of Polos RL Trainer 89s in suede. Little more on the preppy side but nice looking shoe.
1/2 off at belk right now!

Fuck. That’s a nice deal.
