+ 3 Recent Nonsense

ad

In light, of all the recent Nonsense post I've been doing a lot of thinking. Have we as of a people, parents and human beings lost touch, Where have we failed or have we even failed. I'd like to think as a smart and logical man and father that I, have not failed that I am a great father to my son. But where has all of this stupidity and lack of knowledge and reasoning come from. I'd like to blame in on society as a whole. The tv shows, the music, the video games and the media. This whole me me me mentality this self righteousness and just flat out dumbassissum epidemic. Who do we as a whole fix this how do we get a grip on it. When is enough is enough. At some point in time parents have failed their children and raised some flat out idiots. Its in plain view as of the present post and and tantrums that some of the children have been exhibiting lately. Something has to change and change soon. This YOLO ATTITUDE is going to destroy this world. Just think these kids are going to be the ones that are running this country when were old and gone. If I ever find my child acting like some of the kids in these recent post I'd beat him half to death because I sure as he'll have not raised him to be or act like that. So what do we do where do we go from here how do we fix all this nonsense. Maby I'm wrong maby I'm seeing this in the wrong light. Please you guys help me figure this out because I'm at a lost.

Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community. Then they were quickly silenced, but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of idiots

'The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.' Socrates (469–399 B.C.)

For thousands of years each generation has believed that the coming generation is degenerate and inferior. I too have my reservations about the coming generations - can I stop the tide...nope. Can I change our evolution - nope. We just have to adapt and have faith that the coming generations will mature and become responsible.

Teach you kids how to:
Make shelter in woods
Start fire
Hunt for food if needed
Boil water over fire
This would be a great start. Because if world goes to shit and kids have to put down their cell phones...they will be lost. Most can't cook or know how to survive.

You know thinking about this makes me want to start a outdoor survival class. Wonder if I could make any money this way? I need a new direction

Wonder if I could make any money this way?

Yes, charge your non refundable fee up front.

Offer a minimum 50% guarantee,.....(you guarantee at least 50% will return home,.....alive.)

Make a nice pamphlet, and charge a large fee (No one wants to go to a bare bones survival camp) (when in fact that is what a survival camp is/should be. )

Do you need a partner?

3 chickens and a $1000 coop.

So it's Monday and SHTF, chicken #1 is Tuesday's dinner, Wednesday is chicken #2 turn, maybe eggs if we are lucky Thursday, ..........???, is the co-op editable???

This does not seem like a viable survival plan.

The secret to survival and eating well,......is,...... know where all the Mormons in your area live.

It drives me crazy my son isn't more into things like that. I tried him in cub scouts that only lasted one year. I tried him in little league that lasted on season. He just hates the outdoors and he hates sports it kills me. He use to enjoy hunting but now that I really look at it I think he didn't just to try and impress me. Our friends have a chicken farm and a couple weeks ago they were out of town so we went by to feed and check up on them. I made my son go. He picked up one of the baby chicks and it shit all over his hands and he had an out right fit. He go so mad I ended up telling him to go wait in the truck. I thought it was one of the funniest thing I had seen in a while. His face was priceless when he saw all that shit all over his hands.

Wow omg bet he freaked!! You have to tell him not long ago knowing these skills is critical just like education to survive. And we will need these skills again. It happens. Make it fun for him. Get a fire starting tool together and tell him you want to make a fire somewhere and need his help. Then teach him without telling him. Same for shelter. Gathering food. How to navigate, what to do if he falls in ice, once their doing cool shit in the woods, they forget they hate it. Handling a gun. How to catch fish. Just whatever your comfortable showing him and what he will accept from you. Tell him you will buy him a video game if he complies lol. Trick is getting them to take an adventure...its instinct just needs brought out of them. Great story

shaun1's picture

I've tried. I'm a vet I'm a hunter I'm all about the outdoors but I can't seem to get him to connect with it. I dontforceiton him or push him even though I want to I just know it would make him dislike it more. I try spending time with him by letting him teach me to play video games but he gets mad because I get us killed every time he tells me dad you suck.....

Yea, don't try to force it on him. Instead, maybe ask him what he wants to do together with you. Even if it is something you don't particularly enjoy it will mean the world to him.

shaun1's picture

Yea he makes me play call of duty and fortnight and then talks carp about me the whole time. Even though its not my thing but at least I'm spending time with him. Were hanging out so ill take what I can get.

Bottom line is our time with our kids while they are kids is very short. I suggest you make the absolute most of it

Oh believe me I do. Its crazy 13yrs has gone by as fast as it has. Really to think about breaks my heart. There aren't many things that get to me but just thinking about my kids and our time together brings this man to his knees with tears in his eyes. Their my whole life my whole world.

First, realize where you are, I doubt that eroids is an attraction to the cream of the crop of our young kids.

Second, I think the media tech caught us off guard. I think few took heed of the warnings or even heard any warnings until it was too late. Kind of like how the warnings were ignored in the 60's and 70's with our abandonment of "square" thinking and our embracing free love and drugs... The 80's and 90's were all about preventing aids and addiction.

Third, Every generation thinks the next one is going to bring us to hell in a handbasket.

We have a tradition at the family table on thanksgiving where we say what we were thankful for for that year. I was thankful for the hurricanes.

You might be saying to yourself, "Why the fuck were you thankful for the hurricanes you dumbshit? I lost my home." Because it gave us a chance to see that we are still good and honorable people. In spite of all the partisan bickering, and racial tension the media was telling us was there, it disappeared. Race did not divide us nor did the status of your green card. No one cared to ask what your religion was, your sexual orientation, or who you voted for.

So like every generational blunder, I have faith that there are enough generational kids that utter the same thing you did when you were a kid, "I'm not going to do that to my kids when I grow up."

It’s always been that way man. Just remember the negative stories, while important and it is crucial they are brought to light, will always appear more than the negatives. While you might think that there are negative people out there dooming us in our future, you have to remember there are plenty opposite people out there being quite who will steer the ship right.

I agree with Pale and Gym Supps. People have always been fucked up. Just don’t watch the news. None of them report news. The only neutral news channel I’ve found is the BBC. Pretty sad when you have to watch a different country’s news but that’s the way it is. On the bright side back in the good ol days you couldn’t buy roids easily or exchange workout and diet information. On the other end microwaves weren’t out yet. Microwaves are what turned Americans into fat asses. In those days if you wanted to eat you either cooked or had a sandwich. There’s pros and cons but overall the world is a tame place. Remember there were two World Wars and a depression in the first half of the last century.

I'm praying that it's just the fact that most of these kids are still trying to find their way in life. What I mean by that is a lot of the parents today as stated below aren't allowed to bitch slap our kids like our parents could back in the day. This pathetic PC world that we all have to live in now has affected these kids. The fucking participation trophies, the everyone gets a ribbon bull shit. Has in my opinion made these kids believe that they are entitled to everything. Is what I'm saying correct, no probably not. I do think though that these things have played a part. All I know is that when i was growing up. I never felt that anyone owed me shit. In fact my dad always made sure that I knew that. Which as an adult I am so appreciative that he made sure I understood that. Apparently with the way things are looking they won't find that out until they have to move out into the real world. When their asses get fired from a job because they approach their boss and ask for a raise because they showed up to work on time and sober.

shaun1's picture

I'm with you 100percent. Participation ribbons and trophies are BS. Yea tell the kids great job but maby next year. Make them work harder and train harder to really earn that trophy and they will appreciate it a he'll of a lot more. As yes it does caused an entitlement problem in my opinion.

Hello Sir,

This is quite an interesting subject. Funny enough but I am pretty sure previous generations were experiencing exactly the same process. I am convinced that if you had a chance to talk to your grand grand parents, they would be telling you similar stories about your dads and moms etc, how much different they were. Maybe it's just an evolution and our kids will be saying same thing about next generation kids??
Well something to think about!!! Maybe it is not worth stressing, just need to accept this process.

Regards

I don't think people have changed much at all. They were always this fucked up, the difference now is you see it. Thanks to websites like this and social media you are exposed to people like never before.

GrowMore's picture

Agreed. People tend to look back at old times and remember them as the good old days. I would say in fact there is a little more equality today than there was 'back in the day'.

Pale's picture

You sure can't bullshit like you once could lol. You try telling a story now someone that was there is going to call you out lol

Solid and accurate point. There always has been and there will always be dick-weeds. Interacting with them here is a joy beyond description.

shaun1's picture

Yes and No. Kids use to get their ass beat no you can't beat them and I feel like they know that so they tend to act out more.

If beating your kids is the only way you know to correct them and steer them into good adults please just don't have kids.

shaun1's picture

Meaning I would woop his ass if need be. I've only had to spank my boy twice in the last 6yrs. For the most part I take away his phone or his beloved XBox and his whole attitude changes for the best. If if I can I make him work his punishment off. Beating your kids non stop breeds anger issues at times and I'm not all about that but I'm not against an good old fashioned ass whooping. Should have clarified that better before

It’s all the screen time kids get these days, not going outside to play and be social is what’s fucking them up more...and medication at a young age.

shaun1's picture

The whole outside thing blows my mind. When I was a kid I would cry when I couldn't go out and play now these day the kids are crying because they have to go outside. I know things change and technology has taken over the kids, I know an Xbox probably seems better to a kid now than going out and building forts and treehouses but damn there has to be some kind of reconnection to the outside world for these kids. Were having to live in the city for now while were looking to buy a house so granted there isn't much outside playing if any for the time being but this past fall I took my son kiakin and he acted like he was miserable he didn't cheer up until we pulled back into the drive and he nearly feel up out the truck trying to get back to his fortnight game. It broke my heart I was so happy to get out and spend some quality time with him.

I live in the city-ish now and luckily we have a few neighbors that have kids the same age, so they all play outside together. We have an xbox and a Nintendo switch, which my son can play only on the weekends and only if he gets “good colors” all week at school....so basically he plays the Nintendo about once(few hours) a month haha

Sucks when it feels like you’re forcing them to spend time...

Pale's picture

Well calling it an "ass whooping" makes you sound more like an abuser than a parent. I used to get the belt or paddled quite a bit as a kid and hell I probably even deserved it, but you know my dad never said he was going to whoop or beat my ass. He would actually make me wait it out for an hour or two before I got it. And as adults he explained to me he did that for two reasons, first and most important is so he would be cooled down and second so that I would have plenty of time to think about it ahead of time.

I could probably count the times I spanked my kids on one hand. It was not something I ever wanted to do. Now that they are adults (and doing well) I think I could have done just as well without corporal punishment.

shaun1's picture

Yea I should have chose my words better my bad but your right about that. I've never spanked my boy in the heat of the moment because I can remember my dad spanking me when he was mad and boy ol boy did I get.
