General question, I have looked online didn't find the answer maybe one of you will know. If you have recieved a blood transfusion 8 months ago I think it was 6 units will they still let you donate or does that disqualify you from be qualified ? Tried to call my local center but they was closed.

AnonI believe it's 1yr, if it's a hemo issue and you're ok with doing it, pop an 18g in a vein and bleed it out. Keeping a bit of pressure above the area will help force blood out.
Otherwise just donate they'll test it and if it's crap. They toss it.

Get with your doc and he can write you a script (Usually for Polycythemia) to maintain a recommended hematocrit level, you take the script to a local blood center and you can draw every two weeks if your hematocrit level is dangerously high and every 56 days or so after that for maintenance.
Every time you go in your hematocrit levels are tested and you donate if you need to.
Cost? Depending on the center-$10 to $20 bucks.

Lol dick. I did google it but it's different for each center but I was able to finally make contact with them there it's 2 years every place else is a year
Thank you to all that's answered . I finally got through after 2 days of calling indeed the standard is 1 year to give blood after you had a transfusion
I usually go through the red Cross to donate, and it's a year. Even a smaller blood center I use is the same. If you need to donate a unit and can't get it done via a center, you may have to do it yourself. I know DP had a great thread open about it, may want to seek it out or speak to him.
Over here typically 12 months. I'd suggest that protocol is likely to be similar in any developed country.

It depends on the place. The question asks if you've had a transfusion in the last 12 months. I don't know if answering yes would disqualify you or not. My guess is yes, but that's just a guess.
Where I'm from you couldn't donate. I think for a year.

I believe it's a year (although I'm not really giving you any new info there). If you need to get rid of some blood, You could always just donate and then tell them afterwards like "hey I just realized it asked that question about the transfusion and I marked no, just remembered I had one 6 months ago" or some shit like that. That way they don't use the blood and you still get it out of ya. What are they gonna do, u know?
Kind of a shitty thing to do but better than not getting it out of u if u need to. Not sure if there's a reason for YOUR health that you shouldn't 6 months later tho, since I've never had to look into that.

yea i hear ya. that's why i said tell them after they draw so they don't use it. but still it's a shitty thing to do and could get you banned evidently. so a dumb idea as well.
The problem with that is that if they find out you weren't truthful on the questionaire, they can ban you from giving blood. Some places are very strict and punitive about things like this and will put you on a list, which some places share. Not sure what the answer is though.
Fuck man I didn't think about that. I haven't ever had to donate yet so I've only got a little research about it and no first hand experience other than the couple times I just did it at a drive to be a decent person or whatever. Thanks for the correction.
It was a good thought to help him, but just has too many potential problems.
Not being truthful on a questionaire, regarding safe aas use, is differnt than not disclosing a transfusion.
I'm on trt and give blood regurally. It's doctor administered, but I still don't disclose it so I don't have issues. That being said, I wouldn't give blood if I was don't tren or anything harsh (which I don't). That's just how I look at it.
