Muscle Egg

ad

Hey guys just thought I would share something with the community. I'm sure there's a lot of guys out there that have heard of this stuff already. This is turning into hands down the best protein I've ever had and its very convenient for us guys who have to wake up early at the crack ass of dawn and make "breakfast." You can cook these egg whites or you can just drink them straight out of the jug. I have a buddy who makes chocolate protein bars with it as well. They have a number of flavors such as....
Chocolate
Strawberry
Carmel chocolate
Cake batter
Mint brownie
Pumpkin
Now each cup is 26 grams of protein and about 10 1/2 egg whites I usually mix in 2 cups (21 egg whites) along with my powdered greens, oats and fruit. Also I'll drink it straight after a workout. Each cup of chocolate contains
26g protein, 0g cholesterol, 0g fat,3 carbs and 140 calories. There anyone else who has tried this and enjoys it as much as I do?

Not hating on Muscle egg but 5% nutrition has crystallized egg whites. $50 for 30 servings.

DSTER's picture

Not hating on 5% but the grocery store sells 32oz of delicious pasteurized eggs for 2.99$

Rubber Duci's picture

Egg whites gross me the hell out. I was gonna get the Crystalized egg whites just to add a couple scoops to my post shake. But I might just kick the shakes and just add another whole meal eat it warm at the gym.

DSTER's picture

Strawberry syrup my dude. Its really good, give it a shot.

DSTER's picture

Yes but you can’t drink raw eggs, you’ll get sick. The pasteurized egg whites in the carton is what you want if your looking to drink them. 1 cartoon is about 100grams protien.

professer X's picture

That hasnt been true with me. Ive been drinking 5 to 10 raw whole eggs a day for years and have never gotten sick....i think the chances are like 1 in 10000000.... or somethin.lol. but i feel the gains from whole eggs as protien is better than any powder sold in a tub

Ya, no, right. We are talking about drinking. Most people do prefer eating. For me it’s to replace powders. Half carton post workout, half carton before bed. Not tired of eating or drinking it’s to replace giant tubs of powder. I now consume zero whey or any variant of powdered protiens.

“Raw Egg Whites – Although it is possible for Salmonella to be in both the white and the yolk of the egg, the white does not readily support bacterial growth. Cold souffle, mousses, and chiffons containing raw beaten whites require refrigeration to maintain their character, and added safety factor. Such dishes might be considered low risk for healthy individuals.

Healthy people need to remember that there is a very small risk and treat eggs and other raw animal foods accordingly. Use only properly refrigerated, clean, sound-shelled, fresh, grade AA or A eggs. Avoid mixing yolks and whites with the shell. Refrigerate broken-out eggs, prepared egg dishes and other foods if you won’t be consuming them within an hour.”

Rofl not suggesting eating raw whites by any means but you probably won’t get sick. I tried an egg in a post workout shake 10 years ago. Never again. Immediate puke.

Drinking raw eggs is a def no no. Raw and chicken products = nope. Also the bioavailability is much less then that of pasteurized eggs.

You probably puked because regular eggs that aren’t pasteurized are frothy when shaken. Def hard to put down.
I drink a carton of egg whites a day and love it. And it gives you the most badass gas on the planet. I crop dust every where I go. It’s the little things in life.

Beltabuser's picture

Rofl I know, further down on this post I said the same thing two years ago

Is it really called 5% Nutrition? What’s the other 95%? ;-)

Rubber Duci's picture

LOL . its Rich Piana's brand and yes its actually called 5% nutrition. They gently dehydrated and crystallized the egg white. you can mix in in a shaker or mix with water and cook it.

BaldricJ's picture

Very much eggs _

Engineereddisaster's picture

I don't mess around with egg whites or eggs any more, I have completely switched over to mayonnaise. I try to eat a half jar a day. Some times I mix it with Hershey's chocolate or nestles quick. Shits a game changer.

Beltabuser's picture

Lol, have you seen the diet Ed coan have to Dave Tate? It includes eating a whole pizza every day and a Hershey bar on the hour every hour awake

I've been buying my 4 gallons egg withes, at international egg whites for last 2 year's, I just chug it trogh the day. Smile

kodiakGRRL's picture

lol I was buying the plain stuff way back in the mid 90's ...

Goose24's picture

Yea so wasn't I.... Which is why i enjoy the muscle egg so much. I remember drinking those years ago :/

7gothic's picture

I have a friend who uses this and she swears by it... and judging from how she looks, I'd say it's pretty good stuff.

Goose24's picture

Yes it works great and taste great too!! Thanks for stopping by bro

Bigs251's picture

These things are incredible but would absolutely break the bank if I replaced them with my shakes. I use good ole Costco egg whites and mix em in my shake before bed

Beltabuser's picture

Aside from costs, I would be concerned with the following: Some older athletic diets use to propose eating just raw eggs. This is a foolish attempt at taking in additional protein. Eating raw eggs (or raw egg whites) will only result in about 50% absorption of the available protein. That means that if you eat enough raw eggs to give you 40 grams of protein, your body will only absorb 20 grams.

Eating just raw egg whites results in the same (or worse). Egg whites have a huge amount of a substance called "avidin," which loves biotin. As a matter of fact, once the avidin-biotin forms a bond, the body can't break it apart. So you will develop a partial or full Biotin Deficiency Syndrome. Cooking your eggs (or egg whites) will quickly denature the protein avidin and will allow you to absorb 98% of the protein. In short, always cook your eggs.

Darkhorse777's picture

Pasteurization also breaks down the avidin so as long as the muscle egg is pasteurized it should have the same bioavailability as cooked eggs

Beltabuser's picture

Heat is the only thing that inactivates avidin. Pasteurization does not according to all the studies I can find. Do you got a link? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avidin#Inactivation_of_biotin_binding_ac...

Owes a Review × 1
Darkhorse777's picture

Pasteurization is heat ....most of studies are more focused on the avidin causing biotin deficiencies than protien absorption...and the studies are raw vs cooked not pasteurized vs cooked....over cooking ie fried eggs one of the most common ways people eat eggs for breakfast makes most of the protien in the white undigestable also

Beltabuser's picture

According to Egg Science & Technology, edited by Drs. William J. Stadelman & Owen J. Cotterill, Fourth Edition, 1995, “The avidin-biotin complex is resistant to denaturation and proteolysis. Avidin was irreversibly denatured at temperatures higher than 158F (70C) but the complex was stable to 212F (100C).”

Further:

"Plain egg whites (without added ingredients) are pasteurized at a temperature of 134F (56.7C) for 3.5 minutes OR at a temperature of 132F (55.6C) for 6.2 minutes."

and

"Coagulation of egg white begins at temperature of 144F."

Translation: Pasteurization does not denature avidin, despite false sales claims. Drinking a bodybuilder's amount of pasteurized egg whites everyday can lead to a biotin deficiency. It's safer to cook them until they have scrambled if you're going to consume tons.

Bro.... 1995 edition? Lol

Beltabuser's picture

Didn't know eggs or pasteurization or science changed in twenty years to make it irrelevant.... If you need to get to 158degrees to start rendering the avidin inactive, but eggs start turning solid at 144 degrees, so they pasteurize at sub that temp, how could they render the avidin inactive without turning the eggs solid?

Didn't think I had to do this but this will be the conversation stopper right here ;) here's your link bro

Beltabuser's picture

I see their webpage but no studies. I can only find studies saying pasteurization doesn't affect the avidin... Sorry not trusting their page until I see a study. Fda is bullshit about testing, always letting bullshit slide by. I.e.:waxy maize

good points but I always used mine in cooking with more eggs ... a nice way to supplement but not something that takes the place of ....

Goose24's picture
kodiakGRRL's picture

;-) Independant studies? I ve never been a fan just egg whites anyway the yolk has a lot of nutrients vitamins and minerals ..

Goose24's picture

Yes that's why I try to incorporate cooked eggs into my diet as well.. Smile

selfster19's picture

Yea from what I've gathered through research is that as long as they are pastuerized an come in a carton they have the full bioavailability as cooked eggs......raw eggs from the shell as what old school BB's used yes u only get half the protien.

I drink my egg whites from carton often and jus use water enhancer or the new milk enhancers for flavor.

In a promo × 1
Goose24's picture

You are correct! But don't tell him that, that way there's more for us!! Lol

irongame427's picture

Ive heard this before, just didnt know if it held any weight. Well it looks like i should go back to using whey in my big shakes instead of egg whites.

Goose24's picture

Bro they're double pasteurized so you don't have to worry about that...

Beltabuser's picture

I didn't say anything about salmonella man

I buy liquid egg whites at sams club and add them to all my shakes. But I tried muscle egg and they are good too

Goose24's picture

Yea I'm sure it's a little more cost effective to do it that way. But honestly I was shocked how good the muscle egg taste by itself.

DSTER's picture

I remember some one posted this about a year ago or so, I forgot to try. How's the taste straight up? And what flavor do you like?
