MAN THE F**K UP

ad

i look at karma like a reward/punishment system. you do something right, help somebody out you get a +1. you break a rule or give out harmful advice, you get negged. i don't think every single time someone does something right, or does what there supposed to that they need to be patted on the back and praised for it, because thats whats expected of them here in the first place. but when someone does wrong i believe they need to become aware of it. if you don't know you did something wrong, how are you ever going to learn from it? thats why i think if someone here negs somebody they should man up and say it was them and why they did it. that way if the person did something wrong they can learn from there mistake, and would know better to repeat the same mistake again. otherwise i feel it was done unjustly, and is some punk ass shit. granted you should always read the rules before interacting on forums, but theres usually always some common sense unwritten rules. kinda like the "guy code" all men should follow. theres no offical rule book, but theres certain things you should just know not to do to another guy. yes its mostly common sense stuff, but some people are lacking in that department. here a rule we have, thats not a written rule, is you do not take offers thru pm from unverified sources. again you would think this would be common sense, but many have broken this rule recently. so come on guys/girls if you have the time to go outta your way and neg someone, i think you can spare another minute of your time to explain why. it shouldn't be that hard to man up when you have a keyboard to hide behind.

The only problem I have is when a member is trashing a product with "I don't feel it" and it's a compound that will reveal itself in blood work and there's no evidence.

My source is more than capable of taking care of himself. If it's a bad review and he doesn't deserve it, I have watched him tear people into shreds - I mean utterly fucking destroy the guy. He doesn't need any fanboys. OTOH, if his lab is responsible for the problem, he will go the last mile to fix it.

I agree with you I have seen it... people go on SI pages and some fanboy turns into the sources personal lawyer There is of course a line and if you cross by complaining of not feeling test c in 3 days yea sure your getting flamed for good reason....But if say the source dis respected you or the gear you have is clearly under dosed you have a right to ask whats up not see the fanboys come out swinging trying to discredit you while they get their kick backs for being a good boy....

lmao that shit happens to me every time i go into best buy

Trapsquatch's picture

LOL well described....its a wolf pack mentality usually its one guy who more than likely gets some sort of special treatment for his honorable job of spit shining the sources shoes and bouncing the front door.....the others that follow are just Monkey see monkey do it is easier to flame than 2 help is pretty sad it has cooled down a bit over time but it is still happening no doubt

This karma talk is some serious stuff on this site lol. I hope people do their own research as much as possible before just trusting someone with this number besides their name.

IMO, the biggest flaw in the karma system is when a legit bad review gets negged by fanboys. I'd like to see review negs be mod only. And all review negs are pussy negs, since there is no way to own your neg unless you are a mod.

Pale's picture

I disagree, I will neg the hell out of a source that treats his/her customers like shit. Without hesitation.

I wonder what would happen if the mods decided one day to just cap everyones karma at 100; I wonder how many ppl would still help others and bring this site back to where it used to be...helping others unselfishly instead of worrying so fkn much about how much karma they will get for it. Post after fkn post lately has been nothing but about karma..No wonder noone can get any help. Worry about others for a change and stop fkn worrying about yourself.

absolutely agree here bro. things would really change imo.

X2. Karma is the only system of checks and balances we have as a review site. We all have worked for the points from the length of time being here. If 100 karma is the result from positive and progressive participation, then its clearly evident we have provided information for this site and it has been helpful. I agree with a karma cap. I brought this up not too long ago in a thread somewhere. I cant remember. Of course, idk how effective a cap would be, but it may minimize some of the negative situations that are occurring.

You got time to lean, you got time to clean.

Hitman, I think the Mods regularly look for this kind of karma "negging". I know I was docked a bit of karma a while back for negging one of Gearhead's posts because I didn't offer up an explanation. I subsequently did follow up with a public apology to Gearhead and explained why I did it, which was really for selfish reasons. And shortly thereafter he accepted my FR request!!! lol

But I think the Mods do try to keep an eye out for the kind of karma negging you're referring to. I'd PM them if you would like them to follow up on it.

Karma is looked upon too much. It tells nothing but popularity mostly... There is no reward system for it - what's the obsession? What happened to doing the right thing for the good of doing good, rather then being helpful because of a "reward"?

I could give two shits about karma. Only here to sponge up information and give back when I can. Nothing more nothing less.

There seems to be more talk of karma lately than actual training, diet and gear. And someone who negs you without owning it is called Pussy negging. Fucked up right? Too bad this is the internet and not actual in my face interaction because I would love to see how it really goes down.

Yep if you notice most of the top sources have their fanboys. I understand it's not about you being upset over the karma but it's the faceless dickwad who is probably getting kickbacks and keeping guys like you from voicing his opinion on the SI's

You or I will not be able to stop this ongoing issue of hanging on a sources nuts as much as you will not change a homo to go straight.

Dang, I realize we all want karma but it seems like folk are getting obsessed with it. I started out with I think it was 1 karma. I answered a lot of questions and now I have 800 karma. I read a lot of posts and I try to give new members karma when it is deserved. I think the whole community, especially those of us with lots of karma should not be stingy with newer members where appropriate. It's easy to forget to give karma, but it's important.

Roid Noid's picture

I must have read 2-300 posts about karma related BS over the last 3+ years. consumes people and the site. waste of energy....

SexWeightsProteinShakes's picture

lol I just negged u cause I am on my phone Smile kind of funny considering this thread

irongame427's picture

Very true. Lately I've been trying to read more posts by newer members and give them karma when it's appropriate. Someone did it for me when I was new so if the newer members are giving useful info we should give it to them.

TimberDog's picture

And you never know, a "new" member may have more experience in BBing, powerlifting, nutrition, etc. than most of the members on here, irrespective of how much karma they have ;-)
