getting through life.
So I have to say Life is one hell of a ride the older I get the more I realize how beautiful and how tragic It can be.
My good friends mom has been battling cancer for a little bit and just started chemo over 20 days ago, Well she passed away, and let me tell you this woman was one In a million, I start putting myself in his dads shoes, they are in there early 50s His dad loved this woman to no end, I mean they were that couple that never let there love die and enjoyed one another more then most new relationships.
I start thinking how the fuck do you carry on? You leave this hospitable, You go to your home in which you have built with this woman, her clothes, flowers she has planted, pictures she has hung, I mean every god damn object has some memory with her in it and shes gone, how do you continue on? where do you start over? I had a hard enough time getting over a 5 year relationship. I cant imagine.
I am not trying to be a Debbie downer I was just thinking to myself how odd this life is. My life on the other hand has just gone the opposite direction, I just met an amazing woman, I mean I have dated plenty of woman and she is unlike any I have been with. One man loses everything and another is just getting started. I guess my finale thought was In the crazy life I am going to live it the best I can and be the best man I can, I'm not scared of death I am more scared of what I left behind and what I didn't accomplish.
once again I am not trying to be a downer we will all go through some serious shit no matter how hard you try and avoid it I guess what I really want to know is how everyone stays strong through shitty times?

Like Joe Dirt said "Gotta keep on keeping on" lol In all seriousness I've been married 23 years and we've raised 2 beautiful daughters. I believe we're that couple. We still enjoy 1 another's company. We still hold hands about everywhere we go. Love as well as life are fragile things. Cherish every moment you have and don't take things so seriously. I'm every bit as afraid to leave her alone in this life as I am to be left alone and I absolutely do not want to out live my children. I don't think I can comfort you for I have yet to come to those inevitable crossroads. I can say this though. Live every day as if it were your last. Make sure everyone that you love knows it daily and if you're lucky enough to find love well love like there's no tomorrow. I think everybody can find lasting love till death do you part. I feel bad for those on their 3rd marriage or so. I have to tell them after the first marriage it could've simply been a mistake the 2nd mayyybe but after three you need to step back and take a serious look at yourself. I hope this girl is the one for you and remember it takes two to make it work and it needs constant maintenance. I love my wife and I tell her every day but most importantly I show her through my actions. Having the same goals in life are as important maybe more that having everything in common.
SeaHawkThere Are No Endings Only New Beginnings... Whether you're 25 or 65. I used to get sad thinking about elderly couples would lose a spouse. But honestly they are lucky to have 30+ years spent with someone they loved; something not every one gets in life.
Sorry to hear man. My condolences to your friends (and you)!!!
I can speak from experience on this one and losing a mother has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to overcome. Years later and it still cuts deeply thinking about it. She was 54. My dad has never been the same since. You go from spending every day with someone and your life in many ways revolves not around the women, but because of her. Lets face it, women keep us crazy fucks from running around in circles chasing our tail (or theirs..hehe). Anyway, it becomes a lonely situation and is a very easy time for depression to set in and take over your life if you let it. Grief is the most powerful emotion in the world. I learned this the hard way. If you do not grieve, you do not heal.
That being said, you really have no choice but to move on. There is still much to live for and all you can do is keep moving forward. Learn to adjust to the new life. Learn to do new things that interest you (in this case, you're friends dad) and most importantly, stay close to the family. He will need them!
The great thing about humanity is no matter what, we always find a way to move forward! That's what you're friends dad is going to do in time. I would advise your friend to research how to handle grief. I ended up doing it and it helped me greatly. Never put a time frame on grief. Be there for your friend, you don't have to say anything, just be there when he needs you! I wish you the best bro and again, especially your friends family!
And you are 100% right, no matter what you do, anything can happen. Treasure what you have now because it could be gone in an instant!
