You may have to hire some professionals on this one and make the write you a guarantee.
I see them in my line of work too often. In some of the nicest houses.
My kid brought them home once and it was hell. I've also seen way too many exterminators do a piss poor job. The only thing that will eliminate them is diligence. 4 treatments really aren't enough. And the heat treatments done properly cause cabinets and everything else to delaminate. Done improperly, they just find a cold spot in your wall.
It truly is a pain in the ass. And a lot of stuff really can't be saved. But remove all outlet covers. Caulk the boxes to the wall and spray diatomaceous earth( not food grade) into the boxes. They'll hide like crazy in tack strip too. So pulling your carpet back and covering it in the powder is almost essential too.
Invest in a co2 detector to keep them in one area and attracted to one spot, or google how to make one with Brewers yeast. They definitely help. When exterminators treat, the better ones set a unit for 3 days. Definitely not enough time. It's a 6 month battle.
Amazon sells a product called sterifab. It's about $40 a gallon and doesn't go far. Put the bed bug covers on your mattresses and inspect with a flashlight and spray a few times a week. Wash everything and keep it in plastic tubs.
It the biggest pain in the ass in the world. I'd rather pass a kidney stone. But I've seen too many exterminators fail and paid a shitload myself to watch them walk in and out in 20 minutes. We don't always get what we pay for. Sometimes we just pay a lot for bullshit service.
Ty ,
This is from Mrs fusebox. Who works in situations with these pests unfortunately and is an expert in this area
From my experience, so far you have done everything you should not do. Bed bugs can live for up to 18 months without a blood meal, so as comforting as it was to think you'd rid yourself of the pests previously by throwing out your belongings, you really only knocked down the numbers. Some people don't have a reaction to their bites, which may explain why your wife slept in the bed, but wasn't being bit. She was probably being bit, but had no reaction. Once you returned, the feast continued and you had the reaction. The bombs you set off just pushed the little buggers to other areas of your home. Normally, they like to hide within a 20 foot area around their host, unless they are pushed to other areas by heat, chemicals/bombs etc. My recommendation would be to call a reputable pest control company to come in and do a thorough inspection to confirm that you are indeed battling bed beds and not a different pest altogether. Then follow their recommendations to the letter.
