It all depends man, for me yes go for it just won't get crazy with it but I'm just a casual user who wants to be the best gym rat on the block. Now I know guys who compete and some who don't but are serious about what goes in their bodys and when your on that level as in 12 weeks or less from a show then a cheat meal is a sin and you shall be punished accordingly
Men, i eat whatever I want when I want. My morning breakfast is a slice of cornbread 3 eggs of which is one full egg with yolk and 2 egg whites. I eat apple fritters all the time and im serious plus ice cream in my protein shakes. Yesterday i ate 2 double cheeseburgers from Burger King and Mcdonalds. I had the BK burgers at like 630 in the morning and the mcdonalds around 830 pm. Im not trying however to become a legendary bodybuilder but my gentics are outstanding. I aalways say "Im eating it, its not eating me" Mind over matter just work hard in the gym and look at whatever you eat as necessary nutrition. If your metabolism is slow which mine isnt be smart about what you consume, and make sure you get some cardio, fat burners, plenty of water, and bust your butt in the gym. My leg day overall gym volume is close to 60,000 lbs which is an accumulation of the total amount of weight plus reps that i lift. For example i squat 135 5 times which already equals a volume of like 575 lbs
Personally I have a cheat meal around once a month but I have the occasional snack during the week sometimes, especially if I'm doing a longer run. I check my BF with a calipers each month so that dictates a lot!
A cheat meal once every two to three weeks shouldn't hurt. Just like eating salad on a shitty diet won't make you any healthier. I personally run a modified version of the Ketogenic diet, and do a cheat meal once a month. I aim to increase my carb and fat intake by no more than 75% of my normal daily allowance. And a good way to compensate for the surge in calories is by decreasing caloric intake by no more than 25% on the 2 immediate days before and after the cheat day. Again, if you cheat within reason, it really won't really impede your progress, it doesn't even knock me out of Ketosis.
I like Gelato and Sorbetto too much, so that's my double treat once a month :-)
Depends on discipline, level of leanness, and current diet. I know that doesn't answer it that well but the more disciplined you are the less cheat meals you need to keep sane. The leaner you are the more cheat meals can benefit you. The opposite sides of the kcal spectrum (extreme cut/extreme bulk) both benefit from refeeds/cheat meals.
Personally I eat one or two cheat meals a week, but theyre not that bad. Its like BBQ ribs and mac n cheese or something. Dont eat much ice cream/cookies/candy etc.
I have done a lot of different diets from normal calorie deficient diet up to absolute paleo with no cheat meal for a few months. I am currently doing low carb high protein moderate fat. I maticulously track everything I take in. I feel I benefit mentally from the refers. It refreshes me I guess you would say. I do always feel guilty afterwards and usually throw in an extra cardio session.
