"Blackout"

ad

What would you do to prepare before and or deal with the crisis if it already happened, until it's back on?

I'm not saying this is going to happen, it's just conversation. But out electric infrastructure isn't in the best shape (USA) After giving hundreds of billions to other countries, I don't think that was wise

Makwa's picture

Fuck me, Power went out all night last night. Was back on this morning though so doomsday averted Lol

Pumped_'s picture

So i lost power for 2 days about 5 years ago, bought a $1500 generator and havent had to use it yet. But i guess its like my firearm. Better to have it and not use it then to need it and not have it

ForeverFitBod1's picture

Exactly and same for all survivalists knowledge and gear and food, what's the worst that can happen you throw away a bunch of cans of food in 10 years?

I think the most important part of it all is how to treat or filter water so that it is consumable. You can build your own berker by just buying the filter, and or they have antibacterial tablets that will clean the water.

Aside from food and protection I also need a way to relax and stay sane, here is my doomsday cannonball lol over half pound of fine hash hehe

Same here. I’m in the south. Tri state area. Storm knocked it out I think. Was out of the state for the evening with the Mrs. But the kids said it was out all night. I was highly concerned about my Genos and Nordis

Lose any food ?

Makwa's picture

No, my freezers are so packed they could last a week as long as I'm not opening them all the time.

Mac12769's picture

Lol same. Have 3 out in the woods where I'm at. Ugh and getting a generator really worth a shit costs a small fortune...

ForeverFitBod1's picture

Anyone ever have the thumbs up like button just disappear? I still see the thumbs down button tho

I didn't exhaust my likes like tinder did I? Hehe

Definitely not a fan of any of those doomsday videos I actually don't watch those. It seems the Midwest has some vulnerabilities due to a new system, which I'm not surprised but that info could be false who knows. But,

This one is sensible to help understand the reality of it

Food cigars and ammo.

It already happened to us in 2004, and it was some creepy shit. Even the street lights were out. I just locked all our doors and loaded all my guns until it was over. Luckily, we have a lot more solar powered technology these days. Most power companies have solar panel farms these days

Pumped_'s picture

Speaking of solar then maybe you know this. If i get solar panels on my roof are they designed to provide power in an outage or just supplemental power supply and cant operate without some electricity?

Makwa's picture

You will have power during an outage. Can disconnect completely from the grid but most don't since the extra electricity they produce can be sold back to the power company, albeit for pennies on the dollar though.

Haha ForeverFitBod1 you got em all terrified!

ForeverFitBod1's picture

Ooops haha personally I've never been one to be controlled by anxiety or fear. It just shuts people down to not even want to think about it.

Is the government saying be prepared for a meteor strike that might impact us? Big difference

Well we both know what situation made folks lose their minds. But nah man it's all good.

No not really, my wife and my mother in law handle the farm, iam there only for the heavy duty stuff, like vaccine on sheeps, groom them etc!!

Drexyl's picture

I don’t think it’s the blackout itself that would be the biggest issue, it would be the collapse of structure. No communication would be the biggest problem. It’s the urban areas that would be chaos. I dunno, it’s definitely a very ugly situation to contemplate.

ForeverFitBod1's picture

Well we already saw the mass mobs of people by the thousands running amok in those cities. All those large masses of people would not be centralized and looking for food. I like to know I'm prepared for a home invasion regardless

The economy in our nation would be gutted. Total recession. I would hate to be saying what if I had just learned to grow my own food or how to purify water. Basics. I've always been more of a doer. Becoming a father 3 years ago I've realized it's not about me anymore or oh wells. It's about what "should" I be doing to ensure her protection and livelihood in a what if world. All suggestions are taken into account for thank you guys.

For me the no trespass signs would go up, I'd be keeping the axe sharp for firewood, set up perimeter trip lines that hook to blank shotgun shells. Those are badass. Only 40 bucks

ForeverFitBod1's picture

"what if" we all RealizedRealLies? I'm kidding

For me it's not about living in a what if world. We do.
It's about living prepared in a what if world.

Knowing in the past different countries governments have waged war against their own people. It's more about trust. And knowledge of course, hence the post. Survivalists know how is deeply rooted within our species since the dawn of time.

Of course we can all just listen to the government and do what they say and hopefully pull thru. Much easier for some ppl

ONESICK's picture

I'm from the north. It wasn't uncommon to go without power anywhere from a day to a week in the middle of winter. Temps in the single digits to below zero, fahrenheit. Nothing like being in your house and you can see your breath. I only managed because of having a gas stove as the only heat source to warm up the house. Yet certain members of the government want us to go all electric and stop using gas lolololol go fuck yourself. I can handle the cold pretty well. I love it to be honest. Winter is my favorite time of year.

alekaras's picture

Winter is coming.... Lmaooo!!

Noooo stop..,! you're going to cause a mass hysteria of fear anxiety and paranoia. We're all going to DIE haha

And no gas stations open so cant even escape and go for a ride lol

ForeverFitBod1's picture

Ahh the good old days of scrambling through the pages of a magazine. I wss a Swank kinda guy. I haven't seen them at the convenience stores in decades I don't even know if they still make them. Computer porn definitely took it to a new level Smile

I picked up a new pressure washer a couple weeks ago at a hardware store here, I noticed these new hybrid generators. Propane or natural gas in one. I know they have propane and gasoline in one already. But I've never seen these. The unit put out 10K Watts. I'd pipe that sucker in myself but at 1200 bucks, eh. We lost power once in 2018 for a week from a. Ef1 tornado that came through and caused some ruckus

press1's picture

There was just something so much more exciting and special about buying a magazine, first getting the balls to go up and buy the thing suffering the shame and outright embarrassment of it in front of the shop keeper, and then the excitement of flicking through it all just hoping there were at least 2 women in there that you found attractive enough to blast one out over!!

I pretty much ignore anything I can’t control. Especially doomsday news. No point. 99% never happens anyway. Keeps me sane. The whole point is to give you anxiety for views and clicks.

99% of our fears never happen.
