6 days in the hospital, infected absess

ad

Well Its been a few days since I was discharged. Kicked the pain killers Fri night and spent the past two days feeling like sh-t. Ive missed about 10 days thus far of work outs and proper diet.

The injection didnt feel right even 12 hours after injection. My temp. began to elevate by the next day. The site wasnt red or inflamed so I convinced myself it might be a sterile absess that just needed time. By day 3 I was in such horrid pain I was vomiting in the doctors office. The doctor took one look at it and said it was the worst infection he's even seen and recommended the hospital immediately.

The hospital visit was terrible for the most part ( but worth reading about). They gave me a buzzer in the waiting room- which apparently ran out of batteries leading to a 90 minute wait. They did take pity on me and got me a private pre admitted room. Basically a private waiting room to lay in until they get a doc around to admit you to the hospital. In the mean time my pain level shot to "moaning".

It took about 4 hours total until I was in a bed admitted to the main hospital and medicated to some level of comfort. It was around this time that I found out my admitting doctor also happened to be my parents primary care physician... which really complicated my plan to keep this private. I also met with a surgeon who told me about the possibility of surgery and the need to stop my food and water intake in preparation. ( No Water+ antibiotics+ painkillers+ time = torture).

Over the next few days I got several CAT scans, xrays, blood works, and a few others i forget. Eventually they decided to do surgery- told me 5 mins before hand using assumptive language while wheeling my medicated loopey ass out of the room.. Surgery is basically a single incision directly into the center of the abscess in order to release the living/dead material and pressure. The result is an open would that allows for continuous release of material, and requires constant redressing. I also have to remove and replace cloth stuffing that goes inside the wound once a day. This part is a mind fuck- and a constant reminder that you f-cked up on a significant level.

After surgery- it was a waiting game of painkillers, fluids, and IV antibiotics... and TIME... lots of TIME. It was impossible for me to lay in bed all day. I would get up several times during the day to do a few laps around the unit- or walk down the hall to the unit next door. It was also around this time that I realized that not all nurses are made equal. Some are amazing and can lift your spirit with their positive energy, and others are down right abusive and neglectful.

The worst nurse experience happened at 2 am. I woke up covered in pile of my own puss. Which smells like rotting human btw. I pressed the nurse button. No response .Waited an hour. No response. Finally- my IV fluid ran out and my IV computer alarm went off. Still no response. That was the last straw. I disconnected my IV and went to the bathroom to clean myself off and put a new bandaged on. When I returned to my room my nurse and an orderly were standing by my bed like I committed a high crime. The orderly said " well... (my name) we have an IV with no patient what do you have to say for yourself"... I had no response. They took my iv away and walked out of the room. I was left with nothing. I laid back down for about 30 minutes before I started to get worried about why the hell I dont have an IV anymore. No pain meds and no antibiotics...? So i went to the nurses station where she told me I dont deserve an IV because Im not responsible.

That sh-t scared me. Im a big boy... but that sh-t scared me. There were no supervisors on the unit that I could go to. So I picked up my cell phone and called the hospital directly and got put through to her supervisor. She came to see me in about 30 minutes. I told her my situation and she was shocked. I was immediately moved to another unit with different staff. The rest of my stay was uneventful.

Eventually I got discharged. Ive felt like garbage since getting out. The painkillers def. took a toll. I wish I wasnt so liberal with the morphine button. My confidence is awful. Leading me to question my cycling, fall school choice, friend choice... all sorts of things. Im still leaking out the side of my ass. And my energy is shot.

My plan is to get back to the gym 2morrow and back into the swing of things.

Good riddance.

Nitti's picture

In case anyone is wondering why he's banned, it seems that this is a member who was recently banned for trying to scam sources out of hgh. He is at it again. Breakingface, I'm investigating and until I'm finished, you're account will not be active. You tried twice to get sources out of hgh and aas and posted fake labs.

Am I reading that you are taking a total of 4,000 mg of antibiotics split up qid? Or are you taking a total of 1,000mg a day split up into 250mg qid? 4,000 mg is a buttload of antibiotics.

dandog's picture

What kind of antibiotics are they? If I can ask. (that kind of dosage can wreck your stomach imo). I work in the health care field and never heard of so high of a dosage.

Its all good. I'm glad your off of that brother. The less of that in your body the better. You watch, every day will be better than the previous day and before you know it you'll be picking up cars with your biceps again. Smile

Usually antibiotics that run higher then the norm are done in the hospital through IV. I have never heard of the oral dosage before and I have had my share of fighting off infections. Doesn't mean your not right in the dosage but damn I am surprised you have any intestines left.

Well what is important is I am glad you are alright and stomach intact!

dandog's picture

You're right. Even when dispensing prophylactic antibiotics we may give up to 2000 mg MAX of Amoxi for just ONE DAY. 4grams a day of that shit will strip your stomach lining and make you nauseous all day and weak on top of that. Don't get me wrong, maybe thats what was needed but, again, I'm glad your off of it.

Im sorry to hear about what happened to you...its horrible....i 100% agree with the others here you should take this up with the hospital executive branch....make some notes now of the events so you dont forget anything....then when yr health is back to 100% write a descriptive, detailed letter...she should not be a nurse imagine what she does to elderly ppl and small children who cant really speak up for themselves...
feel better :). p.s. go easy at the gym too...sorry im a mom i cant help mothering lol

if you were my son

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a wicked experience. I'm curious if there was any interrogation about the use of AAS, or simply why your sticking your ass with a needle.

Making important decisions when you're down and out is unadvisable. You're likely to evaluate things differently or more rashly. Don't forget your concerns address them all, but after you're in good spirits and recovered then figure out friend choice, cycling protocol, and your education. Get some good old fashioned R&R buddy.

P.S. Get some sterile injection materials, don't pin with the same needle you draw with, and use isopropyl alcohol generously. Be safe man. Also that nurse should be fired.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. Thanks for sharing. Looking back, was it the gear that was dirty or bad habits while injecting?

Yah wondering the same thing?
