Shipping trouble, Help!!
So recently I had a package get lost by the post office. I didn't have the tracking number, but the source did, and idk what the message had said but when he looked it up it just couldn't be found or whatever idk. So i get emails from the post office when I have a package coming or certified letters and stuff, today I get an email, saying they have a package for me but they have an issue with the address and I need to update the address within 24 hours or it will be returned to sender. Its definitely legit because I copy and pasted the number and went to the usps website and tracked it that way, and it says the same thing, so its not a scam. But my question is, could this be some type of say to get me to claim the package or something, or is that ridiculous and i should stop being paranoid and just update the address. But what I don't get is how do they know it's for me if they cant read the address, don't they only know its me because of the address? it's not like my email address was on the box and I think the USPS account is actually in my girls name not mine so I don't think they could've even found me by the name. Let me know what ya think fellas

gordon fishermanGo with your gut.
My guy has never lied to me.
I think you might be a wee bit paranoid mate
UPDATE: so I now think it was a scam. They used a tracking number that comes back as a real tracking number but says "no info yet" or something like that on the real USPS site so it seems legit that its not a made up tracking number. Also their link to the "usps website" is so legit looking. it is identical to the USPS site. there's like hundreds of tabs and the fonts and everything is literally identical, the only way i was able to tell it was fake is when you hover over every link on their site, they all lead to the one page saying they need t update your address but most people aren't searching around the post office website for other stuff so Im sure this has fooled a lot of people, I was impressed and it almost got me especially when I just so happen to have a lost package out there. What's weird is it's the second scam involving a lost package I've seen, since this package has been lost, the other one was a text message saying something similar but was nowhere near as sophisticated as this one. since we tend to be expecting packages, I think were probably alot more likely to fall for these so keep your eyes out guys and stay careful!
So basically, you got a phishing email?
I get a lot of these, and they probably work because most of us these days are expecting something in the mail.
I have almost been "tricked" a few times. Now, I never respond to an email. if in doubt I open the app (UPS, FEDEX, Amazon etc) and check there or go to a bookmarked USPS website from my browser.
gordon fishermanExactly!
Because now they can have access to your passwords, emails and key strokes.
They get the elderly ALLLLLL THE TIME because they don’t know any better nor understand what they’re allowing the hacker to do.
Update address and see what happens but if you never change anything I'd be wiery.
Without going into detail, NOTHING is ever delivered in my name, never to my address, and my hands never touch it first. If there was ever a hiccup or deviation from the way I typically handle these things, me personally I’d chalk it up as a loss. A thousand dollars can hurt, but it’s better than the loss of your freedom. I also never spend other people’s money. I procure it, and they will pay my mark up. Be smart bud, if it feels wrong it probably is.,you didn’t order Girl Scout cookies.
I think you are paranoid
