+ 3 Posing- My take/ your take
Iv been sitting here thinking back to the benefits iv seen personaly from posing and thought I would voice my take on how important it is to pose. I know this means more for people with aspirations to compete but iv read and seen through my own experience how beneficial posing can be in building your physique. Iv read in many articles it helps with muscle hardness but i feel the MOST beneficial thing it has helped me with is building a better mind muscle connection. Ill give my most recent experience, I was posing in the mirror a few months ago and i noticed that my right quad has more seperation in it than my left. I came to the conclusion that it wasent due to lack of development but tha fact that i tend to put my leg forward while going through poses(as do most bodybuilders). In some poses you put most your weight on one leg so you can display the other better. ANd for me it tended to be my right leg, I started using my left leg as my display leg and within 2 weeks of flexing mostly my left quad i had the same level of seperation and it all came down to the fact that i had very little mind to muscle connection wit that leg and could not flex each muscle in it properly. Thats just one example and i wont make this long winded by adding another id just like to hear some of your takes on the benefits of posing especially from you Vets that compete. Thanks!

Constaintly practicing posing as you get ready for a competition also prepares you not to over flex and cramp up from dehydration.
Wow nice thread and all true! +1
Posing is a must for anyone lifting weights. If you can flex that obscure lil muscle...you can find/feel a isolation workout for it. Not to mention that flexing is a form of training in itself.
HEL YES!!! Have you ever tried to run through all your mandatory poses back to back holding your peak contractions???? God i sweat more when i do that than when i workout. lol It takes ALOT of practice and stamina.
Exactly,, i flex the muscle im training everytime between sets to get more blood in them,, my friends think im Always just showing off.lol
Yea i kno the feeling bro. ALot of people at my gym pick and make fun at first because they thought i was trying to show off but alot have grown to respect me for my training knowledge and they know im doing it because i want to see what needs improvement instead of being a typical douchebag with my shirt off.
Haha but they dont say nothin no more when all they see is you improving everyday right.;)
EXACTLY!! It did shut em up when i blew past all them in either strength or development within a year. Thats when they started to believe i knew what i was talking about. lol
Haha good shit bro keep it going!!
Practising posing does all the things you mention.. muscle control,hardness,etc... the one thing most young bodybuilders forget to master is a full AB contraction in semi relaxed mode between compulsories... this one does take some time to master as it involves tensing and holding the whole AB section and learning to breath with the lungs instead of the diaphram... nailing this keeps to ABS flexed and hard without the whole AB wall pulsing forwards and going soft on every breath... nail this technique and you will be able to hold the ABS hard for the whole time on stage.
Posing and flexing is the principle of Dynamic Tension promoted many years ago by one of the first bodybuilders Charles Atlas.
Yea thats somethng ive fell away from considerably since i started bulking hard and lost most of my abs but iv recently been trying to remember it more.
Spoken like a real pro!
Thankyou sir!
