Is birth control totally safe? Every type of hormone therapy has a chance of something going wrong. It's all about risk vs reward. There are a million lawyers jumping on the trt side effect bandwagon, just like they've done with certain birth controls, Accutane, and any other drug that has a possible side effect. That's why when I was a little pimple faced 13yr old on Accutane I had to get blood work every 2 weeks to check my liver, kidneys, etc. The main difference I see nowadays with hormone replacement therapy is the amount of people self prescribing and playing doctor. When you're seeing your endo/doc every month and following the proper steps you have less chance of problems because they'll flat out tell you that a certain medication is not for you unlike many "self made endocrinologists" that think they know what they're doing.

As long as there is a protocol followed, access to an MD, and bloodwork is used to track results, TRT can be safe and effective.
