+ 3 Do you think a liver cleanse prior to a cycle as well as during is beneficial?

ad

I want to run some dbol and halo with some oils. Is it a waste to do a liver cleanse prior to my cycle instead of just doing it during the cycle? I know its good practice to always bo on a liver cleanse but im just curious if the benefits are minimal or worth it.

I’d throw NAC in. It has many health benefits including liver protection.

I read that tudca beyond 8 weeks can actually start to cause harm because your body can start producing less bile salts naturally and become reliant. I’ll see if I can dig up any info on that, but it’s never a bad idea to look into improving organ function bro. Keep tabs on it.

I would be interested to read whatever you can dig up.

Bearded_muscle's picture

It made sense when I read it, I’ll find it for you

Here is a study verifying the positive effects of TUDCA on liver cirrhosis after 6 months of treatment. Seems fairly safe long term. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23592128 and here after 3 months treatment for chronic active hepatitis, showing serum liver enzyme and serum lipid levels improved https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0011393X95850554

Seems like all good news so far. Not being argumentative - I read a lot, so I am still interested to read the research that you have found. Cheers.

I've heard this also mate from one of the older guys at my old guy......can give you stomach cramps before the serious sides start to take affect

It's a shame as with anything, you think you have found a solution to combat side effects using another medication but with that comes more sides of its own. I recently started using zantac for acid reflux which works like a miracle cure but with that comes drowsiness and dizziness which puts a dampner on training!

Ozninjaguy's picture

Have you tried Omeprazole - it's a PPI (Protein Pump Inhibitor). I have been using it very successfully for years. It is also used for treating stomach ulcers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omeprazole

press1's picture

Hey Oz, no I haven't mate - Its good is it, no sides?

Ozninjaguy's picture

Highly recommended. No sides. Been taking it for 20+ years. One 20mg capsule a day and it will change your life. Don't get sucked into buying Esomeprazole 40 mg - more expensive and not necessary.

Edit: because Omeprazole affects Ph levels in the gut, you might want to include a daily pro-biotic to maintain good 'flora' balance.

press1's picture

Cheers buddy, will defo give it a try. Trying to train when lethargic just takes the fun out of it, rennie is great but only lasts about an hour when lifting lol How's the weather?!

Ozninjaguy's picture

No probs mate. One 20mg Omerprazole will last 24 hours - sometimes I have gone 2 days before it's effects wear off. According to Google you can buy 10mg tabs OTC in the UK. Start off on that first.

Weather is not too bad - hasn't rained for a few weeks, daytime temps around 28 - 30C and humidity is around 85%. Just serviced the scoot and looking forward to a ride.

I take Milk Thistle year round and TUDCA on cycle. So, that seems to agree with other opinions below.

Dr.BroScience's picture

As a side note, why you would be running two liver toxic orals if you are so concerned about liver health in the first place?

Likewise Dbol and Halo together during the same run?
You would be running as you say oils plus a liver toxic bulk wet oral in Dbol along with a pure androgen precontest compound in Halo?

That seems incredibly counter intuitive. Both as a potential cycle but also in regards to liver health.

Ozninjaguy's picture

Agreed. I remember reading somewhere that Halo should only be run 10-14 days pre-comp because of the harsh liver effects.

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

If your liver is over 30 i wouldnt run those two together. Shit i would never run both Thats just me though. Why thrash your liver with orals and bloat up with dbol. Idk

Makwa's picture

20mg of halo is not a low dose and will definitely be toxic within a short time. 6 wks of it would pickle your liver pretty good.

press1's picture

20mg Halo for 6 weeks WILL be Toxic...With or without anything else

press1's picture

Whatever dose you want to run is up to you - its the period of time you want to keep minimal, idealy no more than 2 weeks at a time.

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

If taking halo even alone. Eat a whole plate of grass fed chicken livers once a week. Along with your supps. Imo

IrishMack's picture

Wow a whole plate of chicken liver. Thats roughly about what over 20 ounces? That equals over 3000mg of cholesterol maybe more in one sitting. My arteries just tightened thinking about it.

Ozninjaguy's picture

Good articles mate. My Grandma had high Cholesterol. She died of stomach cancer at 99.5 years of age. My Mum has high cholesterol - she's 83 and still lives independently, drives a car and has no heart issues. My Doc has me on statins because I have high cholesterol - for me - it seems to be a family trait. I'm inclined to drop them because the more I read, the less I believe they actually help in any meaningful way.

IrishMack's picture

Its not a myth if it was noone would die from it or need lipitor.

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

Isnt cholesterol what our brain needs? And other organs? Thats why you see vegans after 5 years look like a starvation victim

IrishMack's picture

Yes your body already produces it. What do you think testosterone is?

IrishMack's picture
JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

Is there anything besides cardio and diet that has been shown to help prevent clogging. Any herbs or supps. I got my heart scanned like 4 years ago. It was 100% but idk

IrishMack's picture

Yes. What you eat. Its all about what you eat. The reason bodybuilders have more to worry about is because we eat so much food to maintain our size. Check your family tree and see if anyone has diabetes. Heart disease or high blood pressure e.t.c. that is your genetic marker. I trust my doctor even though they practice medicine. The last autopsies of the people in this game we lost were shocking. Clogged arteries. Fat around their livers. Enlarged heart. E.t.c. I wonder what they died from?

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

Wasnt the one on 10grams of gear a week though. And his whole mothers side had herat disease. And i think the insulin in tge BIGGEST factor in negative health of these ifbb pros

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

Same for me. Little over hour and huge forests.

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

Never had deer liver i would look into it. I know polar bear liver has too much vitamin A lol. Backstraps slow cooked in butter and veggies. Mmmm

JugulrTRENsuspension's picture

And since its so nutrient packed. The most nut packed food on earth. You shouldnt eat it more than twice a month off cycle. As with any vit min too much can be bad. Like vit A vit k and others
