Where to store your gear? Get a safe.

I saw this post
https://www.eroids.com/pics/screw-theives.-these-last-few-months-have-be...

brother lost his gear to thieves.

I see countless brothers in iron hide their gear from their significant other. I'm telling you flat out there's a better way. GET A SAFE.
With hiding gear you run the risk of it being found. Once it is found, it might be obvious you were trying to hide it. This creates a clusterfuck of problems and you will end up in a fight. Police may be called, you could be blackmailed, this could be used as leverage etc.
Further, the paranoia and lies all add up and create stress. I personally think it's better to be honest and up front. But that's not what this post is about.

Get a safe. Think about the social constructs regarding safes. If a safe is out in the open people are un-phased. They mind their own business around a safe, because a safe is an object of authority. It's rude to ask what's in a safe, and most people assume it's important documents, money, or firearms. You can hide your gear in plain sight
if there is ever a party at your dwelling, people will steer clear from a safe, respecting the boundary. If Police are ever called, even if they have a warrant to search your home they still must obtain a second warrant to open a safe. That's a whole other topic.

The point is the social constructs around the safe. Use it to your advantage. Put your gear in a safe and you won't regret it.

Wife to true grit...."Honey, someone broke into the house!!!
True grit..."Oh my God, did they find my bottle of test?"

The last thing I would care abiut if someone broke into my home was gear.

A safe is on your property, no warrant is needed as they have a warrant to search EVERYTHING ask 3 of my friends who had safes and were forced to open them. Safes mean valuables which means you might have something worth stealing. If you hang around with scumbags plan to be robbed. Safes are easy targets and extremely easy to open especially the ones weighing less then 200 pounds. Best practice is keep your mouth shut and stop telling everyone what you have and you will never be in a situation to need a safe.

Correct I agree 100%.

99% percent of shit that goes is that people talk to much and tell friends shit then those friends tell there friends then it's out and no fixing it.

Best to keep mouth shut and then nobody knows nothing.

I think people should quit stealing other people's shit myself and get a job or what ever to make ends meet.. these fuckers just pray on others and don't care period. People I know work way to hard to have someone come and just take there stuff.

In my home town they don't even have a jail house no more. Let someone pull shit there like this, because there everyone knows each other and would give the shirts off there back to you if you ask, but don't try to take something that isn't yours.

I store my juice in a kitchen cabinet. A safe draws attention, it doesn't deter it. If I see a safe, my first thought is wanting whatever is in it. Granted, I have never stolen a safe, but when I watch Storage Wars, I perk up for the safe opening.

in certain parts of the world, it's assumed to be a gun safe
