+ 5 The MIND MUSCLE CONNECTION: Key to growth and development

ad

Improve your workouts with your mind. Make each workout better and more productive.

HOW?

The mind muscle connection is the ultimate experience. What is it, you ask... Well, what if I told you there was a way that you could be one with your muscle contraction... This is what the Mind-Muscle connection is to me. As you contract each muscle you must focus your thoughts on that effort & feel the spark of energy your brain makes the very instant it decides to contract a muscle... That spark is like an electric arch charge running right to the muscle in question in the superhighway of nerves. You feel this charge run straight to muscle and it occurs in under a millisecond. You immediately feel every muscle fiber contract to its peak until it feels like its going to pop. All this occurs in under a second. You feel every bit of it. You have control of every bit of it. You are essentially one with your contraction. The resulting pump can be a painful experience that will have you craving more. With each and every move you make you have the ultimate focus and connection. It's the ultimate ignition switch that opens the door to more focus and control then you ever thought possible and in the end the result is nothing short of spectacular lean muscle gains.
Muscle-Mind Connection= energy, speed, focus, superiority, increase muscle, improved mood with more control, motivation, strength & a better you. What else can you ask for?
I truly believe in this. Too often I look around the gym as I enter it to begin my workout and most if not every member is playing with their phone or chatting. I've seen people talking right in the middle of a set. Its impossible to achieve real tangible results if you can carry on a conversation while you are in the middle of a set. You have to think about the muscle you are working and focus on that contraction. Another thing is slowing down. Many people come in and rush a session or they just plain rush their sets. They'll be doing triceps extensions ant their arms will be flying up and down in a crazy fashion literally finishing 12 reps in 5 or under seconds. If you want to grow you must challenge that muscle and force it to change. Channel your energy into that movement and when you hit peak contraction really squeeze that muscle and imagine your squeezing water out of that muscle. That will really get you working and definitely put stress on that muscle being worked.

What I'd like to see more of is people slowing down and taking their training seriously. Especially if they are constantly asking for advice on how to gain and change. Basically it's the typical I'll ask the question get the answer and continue doing the same thing I've always done. That's just my .02 after witnessing some crazy shit during my am training session today.

A lot more gainz out there to be had by just focusing more on the exercise, muscle and movement.

Best of luck to you all in your fitness journey.

people slowing down and taking their training seriously

I think most of us take our training seriously, but we get stuck in a rut or a routine. It's easy to just power though our routine, and not think about it.
This is a great reminder and something that I constantly try to remember when I lift.

Yep a lot of people are just in there swinging their limbs around either in a hurry or with a weight they really can't handle with proper form...someone told me some years ago forget your ego and go slow and you will grow...

There are supplements that will help mind muscle connection to, like Alpha GPC .

Good write up. This is a very important part of training. See a lot of people overly concerned with weight, and not slow controled reps. Sure they'll get stronger, but muscle will be blocky and lacking the hard grainy look we all try to achieve. +2

Thanks it's hard to teach people that the weight itself doesn't mater you have to perform the movement correctly with high intensity of course and the gains will come. Check the ego at the door as u enter to train... Guess it will just take trial and error for most of them to get it and some injuries as well.

Kai Greene says this exact same thing... he's all about feeling and squeezing, capturing the potential of mind-muscle connection, and that the weight doesn't matter nearly as much as the stretch/contraction.
