+ 8 Online Safety
I have been around for a couple of years, reading as much as I can and learning the ropes. I have never posted before for fear of being scorched, and cannot hold a candle to some of the seasoned members when it comes to AAS. However, since using the site and its sources I have become more interested in security and while no method is foolproof, I have developed some security techniques that can make the use of Eroids and purchasing juice a little safer.
Every day more and more of the site/network traffic is being logged and analyzed by not only site operators but retailers and even our own government looking for anything and everything under the guise of “Security.” Don’t be foolish and get caught with your pants down.
The below guide is by no means definitive, but will help you remain anonymous while surfing.
Step 1: Anonymous Web Browsing
Public WiFi: WiFi is ubiquitous today, enabling internet access everywhere. And while some WiFi will enable anonymous surfing, one must be careful. Connecting to the Internet using someone else's connection, e.g. cafe, library, school, work, etc. can keep you anonymous. When using someone else's connection you're logging in as their IP address and not your own personal address.
However, keep in mind that if you had to use a login to access the computer or network, that login could be traced back to you. And no your neighbors WiFi is not anonymous. The authorities will often check network traffic around the neighborhood if activity of interest is detected. You need to go to a public place with high traffic volume.
Proxy Server: A proxy server scrubs network traffic by routing your connection through a different server so the traffic appears to come from the server, not your machine. Effectively you are using an alternate computer to load a website and then display the results on your computer through the browser. There are numerous anonymous web proxy servers on the internet that can be accessed for free. (i.e. Proxify, Anonymous, Anonymizer)
For those a little more computer savvy, configuring your browser to use a proxy is another way to surf the net. A quick internet search for “anonymous web proxy list” will yield a number of suitable options.
Use TOR: TOR is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. Browsing with TOR is a lot like simultaneously using hundreds of different proxies that are randomized periodically. For more details visit the TOR homepage.
For those who are not computer experts, the gurus at TOR provide a simple to use package complete with modified FireFox web browser which with one simple click will enable anonymous web access. A simple Google search will deliver one to the correct download.
I know how much everyone hates reading the directions, so I will call out the three critical pieces of using TOR.
1) Always check your connection by navigating to https://check.torproject.org/?lang=en-US&small=1&uptodate=1 (This is the default homepage, do not change)
2) Never, ever, ever install plugins within the TOR custom FireFox browser.
3) Do not enable Javascript globally. Now, there are site that will require Javascript to function so if you have to enable javascript do so on a temporary basis by clicking on the S with the do not enter symbol overlay and select temporarily allow this page.
Both plugins and javascript can be used to circumvent the TOR anonymity, so be careful.
If you are one of the millions who access the internet primarily through your smart phone, you are not without options. The makers of TOR also make a version available for the android operating system called Orbot available from the Google marketplace. Orbot will need to be paired with a second product called OrWeb, also available from the Google marketplace.
NOTE
Private Mode / Incognito: Most browsers today offer some type of private mode or incognito mode. While this will keep your search history clean on your local computer, it will not keep you anonymous to anyone with authority that has the ability to request server or search logs.
Step 2: Anonymous communication
So you found your preferred method to access the internet anonymously, don’t compromise your anonymity by logging into your primary mailbox. When using the site, it is highly recommended one use a disposable email account.
Disposable Email: A disposable email is just that disposable. Simply create an account on any email service and use it exclusively for the site. But don’t forget to access the account only through your anonymous connection and never send email from the account to any non site contacts. This will ensure your anonymity is never compromised via email.
Although in the above paragraph, any email service is mentioned, it is recommended to stay away from email services that scan and catalog your inbox. i.e. yahoo, google, outlook.com, etc.
Now, there are limited techniques to remain anonymous when donating or receiving, however, if there is no link to the actual purchase, it makes plausible deniability a little easier.
Again, this is by no means definitive, but if you are careful you can greatly reduce the footprint you leave. Good Luck.
