Liver Functioning

ad

Need some feedback / guidance on elevated liver enzymes.

Background: Ran a 10 week var only cycle at 50mg/day. I have run var before without negative sides, but this time I caught a cold towards the end of the cycle. I held out for a few days but finally gave in and took some Ibuprofen and pseudoephedrine. I took 12 hour pseudoephedrine 1 pill / day and on day 4 started having low back pain on the left side. I immediately stopped taking all meds and var.

It has been 4 weeks and I just had some blood work done which did not come back as I would have liked.
ALT: 93
AST: 56

Question: How much do you think the levels are the result of staking the NSAID and Pseudoephrine on the Var?

My Doc wants me to retest in 6 weeks. Is that enough time to heal?

Any and all advice appreciated.

No, I am not adverse to pinning and have done so, the var is great for elevating my aerobic capacity.

It's not the ibuprofen or the sudafed. I feel it's unlikely from the var as well. Var is not that stressful on the liver and although you ran it for a pretty extended period I think 4 weeks is plenty of time for the levels to come back to baseline after you ceased use. Any other risk factors? Did your doctor order any additional blood testing including hepatitis panel. Were you taking any liver support supps with the Var. If not you might want to start. Lastly, 6 weeks is plenty of time for the levels to come back down.

Oldhead, thanks for the post. No other risk factors that I am aware of. Being I have run var before with no issues I was hoping it was a combination of the three. I had been having some shoulder pain in the weeks before the var and was dosing IB rather frequently, so maybe I had been stressing the liver prior.
The doctor did not run any additional test, just requested a retest in 6 weeks. I am going to load up on sulfer veggies for the next few weeks as well.

N-acetyl cysteine is sold over-the-counter. 1800 mg a day dosed 3 times a day will help with your liver enzymes.

Let us know how it turns out, best of luck.

Classy, great post and info. Will head to the store for all necessary ingredients tonight. If I could give you a +1 I would, but clearly someone else has already seen the benefit of your post.
