How do YOU train in PCT?

ad

I have come across a debate of how you should train in PCT.

One side says "relax, your cortisol at this point is very high and will breakdown muscle tissue in reaction to stress"

The other side says "train as hard as you can, even harder than when on cycle".

So what do you do when you enter PCT and what is your opinion on this debate?

I train just as hard as when I'm on, and that little bit of time right before I go on.

I train 4 days a week during my mass cycle/phase. On PCT I do 3 days. I'm not a big volume guy, I'm all about intensity. Normally on cycle ill do as many warm ups as needed then 2 workings set to all out failure and beyond. On PCT ill do 1 working set or exercise.

Keep the intensity high and your volume low, and give yourself more rest days! Also diet is so important durning PCT!

Thanks man, this is along the lines of what i was thinking +1

Yeah any time man. You gotta remember cortisol will be high that's why we knock down the volume. Another reason we knock down the volume is because of the fresh/new tissue, its pretty much "baby" tissue. The main thing would be to feed that new tissue and let it set in.

Do you find you still hold onto the gains you made in cycle? Is this better for you personally than going all out intense training?

Like bodybuilder said, Same way. It sucks because you are not as strong neither you can recover as quick but there is no choice, is even more important to keep training same way to keep your gains as much as possible IMO.

Same as when on, hard and heavy. Obviously the weight won't be as heavy but none the less it should all be the same.

What about the whole cortisol being high during PCT time??

Pelon's picture

When you say that, do you mean to your full potential? Or do you mean same amount of sets/reps?

I think it depends. When your on cycle your cortisol is surpressed so you can train longer and harder (sets n reps) so if you take advantage of this and change your routine so u do alot more volume, then when u go into PCT then ur gna have to cut the volume alot. The intensity of the workout i think should be the same. Cortisol only reacts to long, drawnout stress, so as long as u keep ur workouts short and have plenty of days off u should be fine.

You still want to keep your gains though

Yes but no matter what you are going to lose some, anybody who says they kept 100% is lieing. And your going to keep more of the gains if you control your cortisol, eat properly, rest and short but intense workouts.

Thats a shame, im having surgery in a few months and i was hoping to run the cycle and work my PCT into the recovery of surgery, since ill be recovering for 4-6weeks, and i would be able to get away with it if all i need to do is small, relaxed workouts.

But theres no way if i gotta workout like a beast.

Ill have to wait to run this cycle after then :(
