Raw Eggs = Salmonella?
ad
Well some mornings I don't even have the time to fry up a couple eggs, and I'm toying with the idea of adding two raw egg whites to my morning shake. I'd like to add that I have an awesome digestive system, I can eat all sorts of f*cked up combinations of food without getting sick.
My concern is obviously different with the egg whites. I don't want to catch anything that might be present in a raw egg. I'm just curious if anybody's taken raw eggs the odd time when in a hurry. Cheers!
(Edited: I wrote egg yolks instead of whites the first time around)

lpetThanks for all the advice everybody. I just added two whole eggs to my shake to see if it would fuck with the taste or consistency and I didn't even notice the eggs. And my girlfriend happened to be in the kitchen at the time and thinks it's badass so we have a win-win situation. And of course, when possible, I'll be preparing my food in advance. But this is a great solution in a pinch.
FYI when you eat raw eggs, your body will only absorb 50% to 55% of the proteins, compared 100% when you eat them cooked. But I put raw eggs in my shakes all the time and never got sick, been doing this for years.
Egg whites that come in a container are pasturized and therefore safe as I understand it. Plus 1 cup is 130 cal and 27 grm protein! I drink at least a cup a day. Bottums up! No-Homo!
haha @ bottoms up, no homo. I also work this into my diet daily. just pour it in my morning shake
MultipurposeI've read that if you wash the shell before cracking and eating raw eggs you reduce the risk of salmonella.
Like ABBY said there is a small risk but unlikely. I did it for years with no problem, now i cook my shit, just got used to em that way i guess.
AnonA risk is present but I've taken in raw eggs for over 30 years no issues. The problem is biotin reduction from the avidin in raw egg. IMO 3 X's a week is max on raw eggs unless you supplement your biotin.
lpetThat makes sense, I'll just take it in moderation. I wouldn't need to more than once or twice a week anyway; just on days where I'm in a huge hurry. Thanks!
AnonJust for GP crack your eggs in a clear glass and look for cloudy muck and toss that. Only take the clear ones :-)
