Does your protien suck?

ad

An easy whey(pun intended) to figure out if you are using a good quality protien powder and not just a really expensive carb/fat is to check the label and do some simple math. Here's the skinny...

The best protein powders will list "Whey protein isolate" or "Hydrolyzed whey protein isolate" as the first ingredient. Protein isolates are the purest forms of protein you can get, with some being 90% protein

-hydrolyzed simply means that the protein has been predigested into smaller protein fragments for faster digestion

Now for the math....
to know what percentage you are getting use this formula:
GRAMS(per serving) / SERVING SIZE(grams) = Percentage of protein
-Example- Brand CH11 contains 25g of protein per 28g scoop that protein powder contains about 90%.

To be considered a "Great" powder it should contain 80% or more

Yep thats a great muscle and fitness article I bought Syntha-6 the day before I got my issue in the mail. First ingredient is whey concentrate. It is a blend though.

Whats the point of having a powder that is 90% protein if the amino acid profile is crap?

In order to determine a good powder I would start by looking at the amino content, and then look at the protein quantity.

I just purchase my whey isolate in bulk 5kg bags, usually tasteless protein.

yeah i found that it varies with brands of isolate as well, the costco kaizen isolate which mixes great and is a good deal and doesnt taste too bad feels like shit after, i have to use twice as much milk and drink it really slow compared to normal to not get nausea

Really, their isolate gives you digestion problems? I use the same and have had absolutely no issues, and in addition I use the flavourless version so there are no additional ingredients.

I used to use ON and dymatize back in the day, but to be honest it makes much more sense to buy cheaper and in bulk, especially if the powder is just as good. Have found no difference to brand name powders digestion-wise.
