What routine sounds better?
ad
I just started working 3rd shift a few weeks ago and I usually crash as soon as I get home about 7:30 am. I usually wake up at 2 or 3 pm and go to the gym, come home make meals, then off to work I go at 10 pm. My question is should I train after work instead of training when I wake up. My concern is how long I am staying up between training and rest periods. I did the math, seventeen hours passes before I sleep after training. Anybody else work nights and what schedule do you follow?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I think I'm gonna try the after work routine. I drive a forklift so my job isn't that physical and at 7 am there will be hardly anybody in there.
Depends on you. I like to train first thing in the morning before work, I know most prefer later in the day.
Only way to find out is try both for a week, monitor your lifts etc and see what works for YOU.
I used to work the graveyard shift 11pm to 7am Mon-Fri and what I would do is have 2 prep days one on sunday and one on thursday tupperware meals from monday to thursday and then thursday to sunday. Id sleep from 8am to 3pm and workout 7pm or 8pm before I start work. After working all night your energy is pretty zapped to go to gym right after its best to rest and workout before you start work. That worked for me anyways good luck with it.
I can't even imagine working those hours, thats crazy. Prob best to train right before work, this way your getting meals/shakes in while your working hopefully.
