Cardio without running

ad

I know to get to the next level I need to introduce more cardio but 100% honesty I'm not a running fan and can't seem to stick to a consistent schedule. I work 9-5 and gym 5-6 times a week after work. I usually go for roughly 45 mins. I find going for less than an hour has let me be consistent for the last 7 years however there is still some work to do on my legs. My muscle mass has been increasing but there seems to be that last little layer of fat that just wont budge on my thighs.

So far I've significantly increased the weight I use on leg day and have also started doing jumping squats, lunges or jumping jacks in between sets to keep my heart rate up. I try and fit in some hilly hikes or a roller blade session as much as I can but I usually only have time for that on the weekends.

Any additional ideas on how to get extra cardio without running would be greatly appreciated! Or is it just a matter of introducing more weight?

Swimming has alway helped me very easy on the joints and relaxing I do intervals in between laps.

jump roping is excellent also in intervals.

Running works but at a very slow jog. Slow meaning u should be able to have a conversation while running without getting winded. But adding 1 sprint day in day ur week will help condition u :-) hope this helps

you dont have to run. Plus running is gonna get your heart rate out of the fat burn range and into the muscle glycogen and then muscle burning range. walk on the treadmill, stair master, rowing, any of those cardio machines will do just keep your heart rate between 120-130 and youll burn fat. Running will do the opposite and youll start to burn muscle.

Try shortening your rest time between sets.
There's jump rope, star stepper, elipictal, rowing, box jumps.
So many other options besides just running.
Try doing some hiit after training.
