Breakfest before Morning workout?

ad

I am thinking about switching my work outs to first thing in the morning rather then afternoons. But I am unsure how I should approch breakfest. What should I eat before I workout? I would follow the work out with breakfest (4 egg whites, oatmeal, and lean steak.) I dont want to go into my workout with all of the in my stomach so I looking for a good light alternative to get me though the lift. I was considering a cup of greek yogurt and berries?
Work out would happen about 6:00 a.m.
Thanks for any help.

I love training on an empty stomach and if you ate normal the day(s) before you will still have enough nutrients in your body, so energy should not be a problem. But if you really want to eat something just eat some fruit and have a whey protein shake. That's what i would do. Or maybe some cereal, dem delicious carbs.

I personally can't lift weights early in the morning without eating anything. I eat 2 greek yogurts and an orange or 2 before I work out early in the morning. I don't like having a full breakfast directly before lifting weights because it feels like too much food in the stomach, but I have to eat something to have some type of energy. Cardio, however feels a bit different. I can do cardio on an empty stomach a lot easier than I can lift weights without any food.

After lifting weights in the morning, I eat a good breakfast with at least 50 grams of protein, followed by a Whey Protein Isolate shake with skim milk about 30 minutes after eating a high protein breakfast.

Working out in the morning makes it even more important to get a good night sleep the night before. Anytime I work out in the morning, I only get a good workout if I get at least 7 hours of sleep the night before. Not getting enough sleep the day before an early morning workout makes the workout feel not as good.

I personally think that you should have nutrients flowing through your system prior to training. You see you have fasted when sleeping, this places you into a catabolic (muscle loosing) state. you need to eat with in 30 minutes of waking to assist in bringing you out of that state and start to get you into an Anabolic state. Not only that but you need to fuel your workout. No fuel = low energy and not productive. People need to understand a very important fact. Diet/nutrition is 70% of growing and recovery. You only stimulate growth in the gym you grow from rest and food. Without the right foods you will not improve and in some cases go backwards.

I lift first thing in the morning. Always empty stomach otherwise I bloat up. Only downside is that I really need to hustle through my workout- no spending 2 hours in there or I start to feel super weak. Your body doesn't work on a 24 hour cycle. Unless you went to bed starved you're fine. If you eat make sure it's small. Even the shake with oatmeal won't sit well if it's immediately beforehand.

Thanks for the post. I have tried to lift on an empty stomach but I always feel tired and distracted and cant push though my lifts like I want. That is why I was thinking yogurt or something. But I will try the shake with oats and I will try one day on empty stomach to see what one is best.
I am trying to lean out so if I have oats in my shake should I cut back on my oats for my breakfest?
