+ 4 Enough is enough.

ad

I've been in and out of this site for years now. Honestly, one of my favorite places because the guys here are so willing and eager to share knowledge and help however they can.
I also, have been in and out of the gym for the past few years. Sadly, I went from a really good physique to sorta kinda fat/big. I do good for a few months and then fall back off...

Curious how I can go from being so meticulous of the food going into my body and following a strict training regimen to whatever the hell I am now but I suppose that's for me to figure out.

All that being said, Enough is enough, I'm going to put my head down and get back. I plan on using you guys as a support team because I cannot and will not fall off again.

I'm excited for the ride more so than the destination. And I look forward to those of you who may be interested in seeing this through with me.

Consistency is the answer

Shit happens, as long as you are aware of your failings it's easy to get back on it.

Welcome back to getting at it. I was off for a while too. Damn injuries and covid. Got really out of shape. We all go though it from time to time. Hardest thing is just starting. After a while it becomes a habit. Then it turns into we feel wierd if we don't get to the gym. I Been back at it for about year. And I feel wierd if I don't get to the gym.

Since youre getting back into things, I am going to recommend what I recommend to my nutrition clients. Start slow with your diet, you do not need to make magic big changes all at once.

Get a simple plan with good foods that you enjoy. Add in tons of flavors and seasonings that you want. I like looking up "fun" foods that are made to be lower in calories. This will give you some joy but also keep you on track.

Slowly you can go back to being very strict and regimented if you want. I normally dont go super strict on nutrition until i get into a contest prep.

Bro it’s okay to fall off… Other things take a priority sometimes Especially kids..

I’m on the same ride, but finally getting somewhere after seven straight months. My biggest problem is my wife’s cooking. She’s a great chef, and always cooking up some new dish that I end up saying fuck it. Coca Cola might as well be cocaine at this point. I can only imagine what I could look like if I had more will power. SMH

Damn bro looks like I just read something about myself lol… literally the same exact thing here. Plus similar age and stats. I just recently got back in the gym after not working out since Covid basically. Had a torn rotator cuff. Got up to 260lbs fat/out of shape. From being absolutely shredded at 210. But I’m down to 239 now, haven’t started gear yet. Just been clean eating and lifting for the last few weeks. Now just waiting on all the gear I ordered to get here lol, gonna have a dope cutting cycle. You can do it bro, idk where the motivation comes from but if you’re anything like me, when it hits it hits.

Well here’s my $.02. Priorities: Family, health, career and then lower on the list is working out. I’ve been doing this 36 years with no longer than a few weeks off a year when I’m in some remote part of the world with no gyms. Maybe 2 days off a month. The key is think is to focus on the long game. Strict diets are good short term but not long term. I eat what I want. Pizza, pasta, McDonalds, dessert daily.

Eliminating your social life to meet your training goals isn’t sustainable long term. My wife and I go out every weekend and drink, smoke, etc.

When I am at the gym I try to have fun by doing the exercises and body parts I like not necessarily the best exercises or certain body parts on certain days.

Besides for this place, I rarely talk about working out, eating, etc. So many other things to enjoy.

It’s all about moderation and finding that sweet spot.

Good luck to you.

I agree with this 100%. The issue I have is for the past 3ish years, the scales were tipped to the other. I would barley train once a week, maybe get 3 days here and there. It's frustrating when I walked around with a nice physique and looked like I was ready for a show at a moments notice. However, now, I'm just plain chunky.
It's been a solid 3 months now of sticking to the training part, I just need to dial in the diet.
