Why does this supplement not exist??

ad

So, there are literally hundreds of supplements that claim to burn fat and increase metabolism (legal and non-legal), but I have never seen any kind of a supplement that claims to slow metabolism and conserve calories to be used for muscle building. There are weight gainers and appetite stimulants, but not the "metabolism control pill" I've seen several threads around the net asking if this kind of supplement exists and the answer every time is "no, you need to eat more" Which is true because its mainly 130lb skinny guys on bb.com asking. I've had to eat everything in sight for the past 14 years and I've put on 100lbs in that time. On my 16th birthday, I weighed 125 pounds at 6 feet tall. Since then. I've grown an inch or 2 and gained ~100 pounds. I was your typical ectomorph and I think my metabolism has slowed from being not quite as active (I ran track in hs and college) Anyway, my point is, "why does this magical metabolism slowing supplement not exist?" There is a huge market for such a product and I'm just surprised that no one has capitalized on it yet. I would have loved something like this when I was in college. Maybe I'll look into making a placebo pill and become rich, lol. I would love to hear input from some of you guys. Feel free to discuss. Thanks!

GrowMore. That is a advanced and dangerous med. If used improperly, it can cause permanent damage to your thyroid. Don't want some noob coming in here and throwing it onto their new "cutting cycle."

I'm very conscious about what advice I give. The guy checks out so I don't see any reason to with hold this information from him.
I have read many articles debating weather or not T3 does suppress your thyroid for life after using it correctly and in my personal findings it's all broscience. I would consider it in the same risk class as Test E.
If anyone can provide a link incriminating this please send it over.

This wasn't a personal attack Grow. I actually have liked many of your posts. If you read what I said, I didn't think it was good for noobies to read that. I strongly disagree with you on the Test E analogy. I've read the MODs come down on several people for throwing T3 advice around and that is why I put it there. There are also many high ranking members here that have had thyroid issues from T3.
If you have other information that validates the idea of T3 being relatively harmless, I'm sure we would all like to see it and it would be helpful.

Do not worry mate, I know there was no malice in your words. I'll take your word on T3 and no longer pass information on about it so publicly. You'd have to be a bigger man than me to go against a general thought on e-roids.

Very true. I think I have a new goal to do some more research on t3. It's not something I am looking to take but I sure would like to be better informed.

I never messed with thyroid meds myself because I don't want permanent damage. Just throwing the idea of slowing the metabolism out there. I appreciate the comment and warning for the noobs

I like the idea of the post, just not the T3 here. It has it's place, but it is limited and for the advanced.

A low dose of T3 can act in this way I read many moons ago, not sure where now.

Thanks for the input. I can see how this would work. Shutting down the thyroid with exogenous T3 and then keeping a lower level than normal in the body

I would consider the idea my metabalism is so FAST. Would love to slow it down

You're probably like me. Eating 5-6k calories a day just to put on a few pounds. Sometimes its tough when I get sick of eating or my appetite just isn't there. Its an idea.

Im a hard gainer also but the problem when i feel the way you stated above isnt that i cant gain off 5-6k calories its that i think im eating that 5-6k but only getting 3-4k this is where i find a diet journal a food scale and planning and making meals ahead of time beneficial

the_gainz's picture

I literally spend my weekend food prepping for the week (what a loser right) I grill tons of chicken and make up lots of protein pancakes and such. Im guilty of not keeping as strict of a journal as I should, but I eat approximately the same each day. I always aim to get over 4k calories regardless of appetite. I need to invest in a food scale probably. I appreciate the advice!

Yep, food prep on the weekends is the only way to go. It makes the rest of the week so much easier, just pull out a tupperware and eat! Id reccommend picking up an Oneida brand digital food scale. I got mine at Walmart for $14 over a year ago and havent even so much as had to change the batteries. Cant go wrong. You might be surprised once you start weighing your food to find you're not eating as much as you thought you were. Thats what happened to me anyways.

superschnit's picture

I say this only to help but you said you aim for 4k but it doesnt matter what you aim for it matters what you get. Trying only to help by sharing what ive learned through my own failure and sometimes success

Do you want to be tired all the time? And your body needs to metabolize the nutrients to use then for building muscle and energy the best thing to do is just take in more nutrients. This product you asking about would make you tired and weak and workouts would suffer

Just a theory. I appreciate the input
