+ 1 Acid Reflux

ad

So I’ve had to cut Var out of my cycle earlier than I would have liked. Love this compound and the results gained from using it, strength, sex drive, vascularity and fat loss. Without doubt my favourite oral steroid. I do get some body acne from it but have that under control with acnecide cream.

However the acid reflux got so bad I couldn’t keep running it. Since ceasing 2 weeks ago when I caught a cough/cold the heartburn has improved. Was getting to the point where I was throwing up in my mouth in a regular basis especially at night. Best temporary relief from it was ice cream, Rennies didn’t do much to abate the problem.

Has anyone else suffered this and if so have you gone back to same or different compound, run a different brand and seen an improvement? Would like to run var again in future but worried about the damage it’s doing to my stomach.

In addition to the recommendations start eating papaya on a daily basis or purchase the tablets. I too suffer from this but since I’ve had to eliminate all acidic and Spicey foods while also incorporating probiotics. Be careful with volume at night because that triggers it as well. Question, how old are you?

RobertB80's picture

Love papaya. 44 mate

SimonM84's picture

I suffer just like you and it sucks because I never had these issues in my 30s. Place papaya in your daily nutrition and let me know how it works out.

RobertB80's picture

Every decade has its pitfalls but the upside is we are supposedly wiser. Personally learning to care less about irrelevant shit has been the best thing about being in my forties, that and a new found love for ice cream! Papaya and papaya flavoured ice cream is firmly on the shopping list now mate thank you.

SimonM84's picture

Amen to that brother. That’s the process I’m in now as I’m in just a self sustaining mode without worrying about shit that’s out of my control.

As other guys have listed the Meds and supps that tend to help, I'll list the foods I find the most effective as often my reflux begins once the stomach acid is stirring and wants feeding!! Lmao

  1. Ice Cream
  2. Babybell Cheese (handy for carrying in the pocket of a jacket)
  3. Milk Chocolate
  4. Arla RTD Chocolate Protein Shake in a bottle
  5. Cream Cheese on toast
  6. Spunk (Optional)
RobertB80's picture

Thanks mate I’ll take most of that on board but will likely give number 6 a miss. On the odd occasion my swimmers manage to find their way to my face I tend not to injest them whether they help with acid reflux or not.

Legion of Doom's picture

My acid reflux is based on the dose how much var was u running?

RobertB80's picture

50mgs a day which I’ve ran before but not with Tren. Mate of mine also had a different brand and I popped 25mgs of that on top just before training so likely that’s what’s made it worse.

M_blank97's picture

I have had constant acid reflux my whole life. Zinc L carnosine is the only thing that’s helped me

RobertB80's picture

Thank you

HENCH500's picture

Call your doctors tell them your suffering from bad acid reflux and eating 10 rennies a day even if your not , he will instantly prescribe you lansopazole 30mg and tell you take one every day …. Just use them on days where you going to be drinking and eating a lot like weddings ect and when daily when your on orals

Nice one mate thanks. Given I’ve now stopped taking bar for 2 weeks and reflux is improving I’ll get to docs if problem persists or plan to run oral again

Jockstrap's picture

Anavar is like that and my favoritevoral too. Crush/chew it thoroughly and sublingual. 4-8oz grapefruit juice speeds absorption and crushed absorbs faster that tab sitting in gut. But heartburn is part of it.

RobertB80's picture

Was having 50mgs in the morning few hours before training and mate said to have 25mga pre workout sublingual which I did. Acidic fruit juice like grapefruit would fucking destroy me Lol

Jockstrap's picture

9hr half life. Split em up. Theres medical reports on grapefruit juice. Sounds like your stomach has a few issues to keep eye in.

CRAZY DOSER's picture

It's unlikely that Anavar harms your stomach more than other oral compounds. Have you been tested for reflux? Do you have any reaction to lactose (intolerance)?

RobertB80's picture

I haven’t been tested for lactose intolerance but drink lots of milk, eat cheese and ice cream without issue my whole life. I’ve had dbol and var on 4-5 cycles now so likely it’s that alongside not the best diet

CRAZY DOSER's picture

This situation is typical for an injury to the cardiac sphincter (incomplete closure of the muscle ring at the border of the esophagus and stomach). Mostly, this kind of injury occurs during exercises like deadlift, squats, and 45° degree leg press with heavy weights.

I believe the most effective way to get rid of symptoms like yours is to choose an appropriate proton pump inhibitor (PPI). A good choice would be Pantoprazole or Lansoprazole. In my experience, taking these PPIs 30-60 minutes before breakfast works best. For me, PPIs like Omeprazole don't work well in such situations. I also believe that, to successfully eliminate these symptoms, you should pay attention to your training regime.

I would exclude doing exercises (for 1-2 reps) such as deadlift, squats, and 45° leg press. I think leg press is particularly problematic in this regard. You also need to control the amount of food you consume before training. The combination of these three factors: choosing the right PPI, excluding potentially dangerous exercises, and managing your diet, will help you get rid of this problem.

RobertB80's picture

Blimey did not expect to hear this! I do lift heavy on deads, squats and leg press. Got a pb on leg press today although at 9 reps. Felt on a high until I read this. I am often amazed at the amount of knowledge some of you lot have. Had to look up cardiac sphincter and Pantoprazole. Thank you very much for this info. Shall get the suggested PPI and change up routine and diet.

A cup of milk before bed usually takes care of it ahead of time. But a cup when I wake up at night always fixes the reflux I get when using var for more than a couple weeks. I've also found that the frozen greek yogurt bars from enlightened I have for desert tends to do the trick as well.

I don't have a different oral to suggest instead of car though.

RobertB80's picture

True. Always have protein and casein with milk before bed after ice cream. It does help

Black90tsi's picture

I have noticed that running var sublingually pre workout only instead of a set dose every day I haven't had as many nights with issues. I'm also not taking as much total and there's a couple days a week I'm not taking it all. I do think it's more effective at helping my workouts be even better this way. Even when only taking 10mg 30-60 minutes PWO. It might be something to give a try.

iFit's picture

As I got older it started with anavar and now every single oral gives me acid reflux so I avoid them. I’m not going to add additional meds to control the sides from other meds.

RobertB80's picture

Was thinking the same. Going to stick with injectables only. Would like to get some decent Anavar suspension if possible. Will do some research as only seen or heard of oral var.

CHIMAIRA75's picture

There is definitely a source on here that makes injectable var. Can't mention who though, as we know

Nice one mate. Have requested you

BrainsNGainz's picture

NAC, TUDCA, Apple Cider Vinegar, Astralagus, Glutathione injections.

No guarantee any of them alone or all together will completely eliminate acid reflux but its worth trying to see what helps. For me I also had acid reflux show up at the tail end of the 6-8 week mark of my run with var even with NAC 1000mg daily, but it wasn't unbearable to the point of interfering with the cycle/daily life.

RobertB80's picture

Already take Tudka, NAC, Liv 52 and sometimes Astralgus. Just the idea of apple cider vinegar gives me acid reflux! Lol

creatinehcl's picture

I develop heartburn after a while with every oral. Also off topic but when I eat a lot of rice the same thing happens Biggrin
Otherwise, I never have any problems with my stomach. What helps me with heartburn is Betaine HCl Pepsin capsules (supplement).
Otherwise, I try to avoid pharmaceutical solutions whenever I can because absolutely every pharmaceutical solution has a lot of short-term/long-term negative effects.
