Hey everyone. I was wondering what your go to brands are for protein powders and supplements. I’ve always liked ON Nutrition for protein powders, thought they tasted better than other ones I tried.
I just ordered ONs pre workout & creatine to try also. I have p5p coming, and got regular adult daily vitamins & fiber to help with blood sugar, cholesterol, and a side effect I rather not say lmao from another medication I’m on.
Any other recommendations on better brands? Other supplements I can be taken for liver health or overall health? I’ve heard people take numerous other things, so I’m sure there are probably a few things I could add to this.
Thanks for any help

Thing is though bud is the more I have thought about it, you may be better off with the cheaper stuff that takes more hours to digest. If its true that the human body can only digest around 20g of protein per hour - then if you have 40g + of Whey Hydro it means that a lot of that will just get pissed out. Where as say Misellar casein which takes up to 6 hours, your body will digest and absorb most of that.
Also remember that metabolism and nutrient partitioning are ramped up especially on cycle and can utilize more protein and nutrients. Just eat protein like it is going out of style to always stay in an anabolic state and not catabolic because you never know when the body is going to turn on the switch for anabolism and if there is no protein/aminos available it just breaks down its own muscle tissue to get it.
Very true.
Hook me up to a slow drip IV with some EAA/BCAA and I would win the olympia in no time
Do you think bcaas and eaas are worth taking when your getting like 150- 200 grams of protein already ?
They have their place. You better double that protein amount though
I must admit I find EAA's really effective esp when taken with Collagen peptides, Sure they aren't meant for replacing normal protein shakes and are too acidic for after training etc, but for cleaning up those final bits of muscle and tendon soreness before a big session I think they are very effective. They say in a 30g normal protein shake only 10g of it is actual EAA's, so for a tiny bit of liquid volume its a really easy way to effectively get a shake in. Hardest part for me is making sure I take them ED as they are not something to look forward to one bit LOL
I wonder if you could actually do that with EAA's what the result would be?!! Effectively it is a constant supply of exactly what you need to build muscle.
Isn't that what killed Dallas McCarver.......just kidding. You know the length some of these guys will go to though.
I have a friend who did the WSM comps back in 2000's and apparently anytime you saw Marius not competing in an event he was literally laid up on a stretcher with an IV in him being pumped full of all sorts of concoctions LOL
Back stage at the amateur comps there was a list of stuff you weren't supposed to use, mainly topical stuff like Hot Stuff and that, curiously steroids weren't on the list
Mainly I think it was to protect the ladies oiling you up before going on stage. Pro level you can do and use whatever the hell you want to.
Like guys getting IV Lasix
I always imagine bodybuilders to be in a really bad, edgy mood before they go on stage because they feel so shitty from being heavily dehydrated and carb depleted, not to mention how the drugs make you feel on top of that.
So your probably right about that but I think one of the big benefits to the hydrolysate is for people with digestion issues, so they don’t really care that it’s faster it’s just that faster means easier on the stomach. And I read somewhere that your muscle can absorb 20 but more then half of what you eat is being used by other organs and stuff so I’m order for your muscles to get that 20 you’d need to eat 40. But that’s also kind of flawed because all your organs and everything I think are only need so much protein. So once they get all they need do they keep taking half the protein no matter what? Or now can all that go to the muscle? Idk. It’s all so complex
I’ve been having a ton of digestion issues since increasing my calories so much. I found a probiotic supplement helps. There’s a daily greens drink probiotic powder that needs to be refrigerated called AG1 that’s a little expensive but it’s helped my digestion a lot. Also if you try protein from a more expensive supplement company, you can really taste the difference from the brands you can get at Walmart. Idk if there’s any difference in effectiveness though. Like Axe and Sledge, and Blackstone labs are two that I’ve tried that are so smooth and easily mixed and taste great, it’s way different then that thick chalky stuff from Walgreens and stuff. But they are expensive so I never get them and still drink ON, and muscle milk and all that Walmart stuff lol
I eat a ton of yogurt so I’m pretty good on probiotics (at least I’d think, could be wrong) from that.
I feel like from my past experience, ON even though some of their stuff is sold at Walmart, it still tastes better than the other Walmart brands. The only thing I didn’t like was their casein protein at night, it was super thick and almost a little grainy? Idk how else to explain it. It did what it was supposed to, I’d drink that before bed since casein absorbs slower, but besides that I’ve liked their products. Just curious if there are better/cheaper options that still taste decent, mixes well, and works. Lol
The casein that I tried tasted grainy too, maybe that’s just how it is? And one of the best cheap ones is like the cheapest ghetto brand lol is Six Star, the chocolate protein is actually probably the best cheap one I’ve found. I always get the Walmart ones or whatever’s at the grocery store, right now I have muscle milk powder which I forgot I fucking hate.
It’s a very good possibility. ON casein wasnt bad, but it was def thick and had that grainy bit to it. I’m fortunate that I’m not lactose intolerant or have digestion issues. I’d rather spend a few more dollars on something decent tasting so I actually use it and don’t dread having to drink it.
It’s funny you mentioned muscle milk. The actual bottle drinks are really fucking good. I don’t understand why the powder is so bad though lol.
I don’t need the most expensive one or best one, I’m happy with using something in the middle. Something that’s not complete shit, and reasonably priced. I’ve tried some of the cheap ones, and usually have more issues with them than anything. Not dissolving, doesn’t taste good, whatever. I’m sure in a pinch it’d be fine, but I think I’d be better off with something that doesn’t have a bad taste. It’s hard enough that I’m a picky eater, I hate chugging something down that doesn’t taste good or drink it and swallow a clump of undissolved powder lol
Ya that’s why I made sure to say muscle milk POWDER, it so much worse then the bottles lol. But for taste the six star is really good and I think muscle tech has a good one but idk how much it cost. I just recently saw these small jugs of protein by Redcon at CVS that looked good, I might try those next
