Realistic IGF-1 Expectations From hGH Administration

ad

I've been using this article below as a reference for IGF-1 levels.

Pharmacokinetics and Metabolic Effects of High-Dose Growth Hormone Administration in Healthy Adult Men
https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/endocrj1993/46/4/46_4_605/_pdf

This study tested the effects of .075, .15, and .3 IU/kg of growth hormone on IGF-1 levels for 8 days. For a 100kg male the hGH dosages in this study would have been 7.5, 15, and 30 IU respectively. Unfortunately they only show the largest dose for day 2 through 8 but you can see the trend and estimate the rest.

Here's the takeaway:

7.5 IU would have put the average close to 400+ ng/ml.
15 IU might put the average around 550+ ng/ml.
30IU gets one in the area of 700+ ng/ml.

This is not unlike IGF-1 levels that I've seen from generics at 1/10th the cost of big pharma and I'm not even talking about newly released generics which appear to sometimes be overdosed.

At my local C.V.S. pharmacy 6mg vials (18 IU) of Somatropin are $360. That is about $20/IU.

You will find that even on the .3 IU/kg group in this study (or about 30 IU for a 100kg male) the range for IGF-1 was 405-786 ng/ml. Imagine how pissed somebody might be if they paid retail for for pharma hGH and ran 30 IU a day for 8 days and only pulled a 405 IGF-1 number while others report 400+ IGF-1 levels from 5IU/day generics. There is still a significant variance based on each individual and I imagine each individual varies over time as well.

Ultimately, how you look, how you feel, and what you can afford should be the only determining factors as to whether something is worth it for you as an individual.

If there is a better study to reference, please share.

If im reading this correclty, youre saying it takes 7.5ius to get over 400ng/ml? 5ius usually puts me around 450, 6ius puts me around right around 550. This is all on pharm grade no generics here. And thats the highest ive ever pulled bloods at, so my 6ius that puts me at almost 550, in this study they needed almost triple that, 15ius ed, They must have been using generics lol. 10ius ed would have me well over 700ng/ml. And this gh ive ran and pulled bloods on was straight from US pharmacies and anti aging clinics, no overseas black market stuff. And ive also pulled bloods on the same dose of black market pharm grade, same igf-1 levels roughly.

The study is flawed as it takes longer then 8 days for igf-1 levels to peak and stablize ion high doses such as 10-15ius ed, closer to 30 days. Thats straight from the mouth of rep at novo nordisk, the makers of norditropin. If they would have given it another 2 weeks on 10ius and 15ius the igf-1 levels would have been much higher.

7.5 IU would have put the average close to 400+ ng/ml.
15 IU might put the average around 550+ ng/ml.
30IU gets one in the area of 700+ ng/ml.

These guys were Japanese, aged 20-27, and weighed around 50-70 kg or 110-150 lbs. The dose that was administered was based off their weight. If a 50 kg guy was in the .3 IU/kg group I guess his daily dosage would be 15 IU. It might not be a fair comparison to extrapolate that dosing and their IGF-1 numbers to larger males like the ones on this board who are upwards of 100+ kg. 15 IU might effect a 50kg guy about the same as a 100 kg guy which would explain why the numbers appear to be comparatively low when I list them for a 100kg male (my size) as an example.

That said, in the .3 IU/kg group the lowest weighted test subject was 54.4kg and the heaviest was 69 kg which means these men would have had doses from 16.3 IU 20.7 IU based on their body weight. At least one of these men in this group still pulled IGF-1 serum concentrations of 405 ng/ml and at least one had 768 ng/ml which shows considerable variance.

After seeing multiple users who were quick to criticize modest IGF-1 levels I wanted to offer some data that shows how wild the difference can be.
