+ 3 Terrible anxiety & low t help please.
ad
I'm 49 years old, 6ft and 189lbs. Always been very physically fit. The past few years have been terrible as in ultra bad anxiety and agoraphobia, totally housebound.
My Dr has me on Valium (Diazepam) and Celexa (Citalopram) daily and has done for many years, yet anxiety is getting worse and worse. Plus low moods, no libido, poor sleep and no motivation.
I had my bloods done and the levels are 282. Also bloods showed low Vit D and Folic Acid.
I did try some UGL Propionate per day at 40mg a few years ago. Energy and libido came back, but felt kind of jittery, like I had consumed a lot of caffeine.
Would TRT help, or could it make things worse?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Thats a perfect question for your dr so trt is legal and done correctly. Low test causes many mental/physical issues.
Have you tried Magnesium Glycinate with vitamin D? It works great for anxiety. Takes about 2 weeks to really get in your system . I have had anxiety since i was a kid, I could remember asking God to kill me so i didnt have to go to school in grade school. Just trying to show you how bad it was. As i got older luckily i found weight lifting and that helped so much. It really cured me by 75% id say
. I also have the benzos prescribed. My goal is to slowly and i mean slowly wean off Klonipin and stick with the magnesium and Vit D.
Good luck. Be careful if you ever come of benzos.
DamikeI would talk to your doctor about TRT. Given what your experiencing and the fact that your on benzo's I would stay away from black market stuff.
On another note something to consider that I have seen people experience after they have been on benzos(Valium, clonazepam etc) for a long duration is they turn on people. It's a strange phenomenon but what was once helping anxiety suddenly starts making it much worse. Its like hitting yourself on the head with a sledgehammer to get rid of a headache. I would talk to your doctor about this as he may be able to switch the Valium for another benzo, adjust the dose etc.. Never go cold turkey off benzos as it can cause deadly seizures.
Best of luck and do your best to not isolate yourself from others. If your experiencing anxiety talk to someone about it. It's nothing to be ashamed of and is the most common reason people seek mental health services.
I know people like to think it's benzos turning on them, but in my experience it is the antidepressant making the anxiety much worse and too hard for the benzo to control. I've been on every med under the sun for what I assumed due to the sympotomology was treatment resistant depression and anxiety, but what it really was and what no doctor ever caught on to was that all (most) antidepressants are stimulating in the worst possible way for people with anxiety disorders (which are my primary diagnoses) and iatrogenically make the anxiety suffer much, much, much worse off. It happened to Me so maybe it's happening to you too. Google: ssris iatrogenically worsening primary anxiety disorders and see what u see.
In my experience Doctors seem to think its depression thats causing anxiety, when in fact in most cases its not - normally its other things triggering it and often its multiple things at a time all compounding into one big stress and problem in your head. So they think the best way to sort it is to get you stimmed up on antidepressants and give you a false sense of happiness. In reality you are feeling anxious because of other triggers, which in turn often makes you feel depressed because the anxiety will often hold you back from enjoying life and doing things that you no longer want to do. Often when I look back at times when I felt like this in my late teens, I was completely surrounded by sociopaths and narcissists looking to cause me upset and stress because people like that often pray on the people they see as weak minded and non threatening - once I removed all those arseholes my life was suddenly a much happier place with no more unnecessary problems in it. Unfortunately some of them were family members believe it or not. Its you who is in control of your life and what you choose to surround yourself with
Hey if that's what it is for you then that's what it is for you. Everyone is different and has different triggers, diagnoses, symptom ology and treatments. Your silverbullets may not be mine and vice versa, but at the end of the day everyone has to find out what works for them
I'm sure a lot of people have said it. I read a few responses. Get down to your undies or as near as you feel comfortable with and walk outside into the sunlight. NO PHONE NO ANCILLIRIES! Turn dark pink. If you're a black fella I don't know how to measure that LOL. The bottom line is lose the screen and get some D (no homo) LOL. Get that vitamin D from natural sunlight if you can and that alone will get you a boost in T levels. Take a deep breath and enjoy how life was for 1000s of years before tech stole our focus. Then find yourself a src and hit your butt cheeks with 100mgs of test. Outside of that you might just be F'd in the A. Lose the Benzos. They only work to get you high and indoctrinate you to feel "normal". Normal is humans. Normal is social interaction. Believe it or not there are more people walking around you who love you more than most of your family do. Put on those rose glasses.
Black people we just get darker shades. When i was landscaping in 100° heat i looked like my boss' shadow walking behind him lol. Now i work inside and stay a brown color. But times i think not getting that sun plays a role on my energy. "Skin so black, teeth so yellow, when he smiles he looks like a steelers helmet!"
You’re absolutely correct! Lack of sunlight has a lot of negative effects on the human body, and can definitely enhance depression
Sorry to hear about what you're going through. But keep going. Keep pushing for answers.
I personally have experienced anxiety with low test levels and very high test levels. The last thing you want to do is create a new source of it. But remember this also goes the same for dht's, estrogen, progesterone, dhea you get the picture. They all work like a symphony would if you will
Some of the recent research data does show that trt can and is a formidable way to combat anxiety. The use is not widely known but if you research it it is out there.
The best advice would be to get a full hormone panel. Right now you're trying to solve a puzzle but you haven't been given all of the pieces to do so
For example if you find out you are also very low on androgens or DHT's, you may want to incorporate low dose anavar into your therapy. You are already on meds, so that adds a whole different element to the puzzle. You may need them for life or you may not this is all trial and error and you are the guinea pig so your research is your number one tool. When you are ready to ramp those down you will know so don't just do it. At the same time detoxify yourself some good old glutamine is really healthy for that and helps any cravings.
I wish you the best of luck as you know most of us are not doctors here and our advice is just that, I personally do believe that proper testosterone levels or higher levels can most definitely help combat anxiety spells. Some of us are pretty versed in this and sometimes a simple black tea extract such as theanine can help at times too but maybe not. Keep up the fight for your health and don't give up if you ever need to talk we are all here to lend an ear. Get those endorphins pumping in the morning, start out slow but get some exercise in in the morning time.
Definitely got to get them D levels up also that's for sure
Take care
Thanks greatly for the informative and helpful reply --
What’s your diet like ? Do you consume alcohol ? Stimulants ? Preworkouts? Sugar at night? There are many things that can trigger anxiety despite some personal issues we may have.
Thanks for your reply. My diet is clean, so no alcohol, no sugars, no caffeine, no illegal drugs. I consume a fair bit of chicken breast, tuna, eggs, wholemeal pasta, some veg and fruit. Only drink I consume is water..... Very boring but I found that many foods can heighten the anxiety, usually high sugars, so been on my diet for a few years now, bit boring but I'm used to it.
You should look into magnesium rich foods.
Secondly, how many hours of screen time are you doing? You should research how not receiving sunlight as opposed to artificial light can drastically impact your circadian rhythm which may be the leading cause of many mental illnesses statistically. You need to possibly recalibrate what’s inhibiting serotonin and melatonin production which counteract stress hormones. I can send you links if you’d like.
He should look into dropping the celexa and staying on a proper dose of valium. If the depression comes back/worsens/whatever he should look into a non stimulating antidepressant along the lines of trazadone or serzone. Once u get used to the crappy hangover feeling of trazadone it works well for depression and as a good anxiolytic ancillary with the valium. This is his life, these herbalist, witchcraft, nonsense answers are potentially harmful because, god forbid, he were to drop his meds to try magnesium or going out into the sun naked (or whatever the shit else) then gets worse and gets lost along the way and can't find his way back to a euthymic or semi-euthymic state. If u know nothing of the disorders being talked about and the medications that bring them into remission then don't say anything on the subject.
Thank you. Would you mind sending me the link please.

Absolutely, I’ll post them up here throughout the day when I have time On this forum post. We’ll be in touch.
Get some Test Cyp or Enanthate. Prop can have you bouncing off the walls if your not working out hard. Start low at about 1/2 cc (125 mg) per week). By the third week I bet you will start feeling a lot better. If you can’t go to the gym, do a lot of push ups and sit ups. Chair dips are good too. This could be life changing for you. Good luck.
Have you tried psilocybin ( shrooms) I was hooked for many years on clonazepam to the point that I was taking up to 10 mgs a day, even with alcohol. Sometimes, during a pandemic, I listen to podcasts that they were talking about psychedelic and microdosin, so I decided to give it a try with some shrooms that I had at home. I was taking about 300mgs a day (I weigh it every day), and literally within a few days, my body naturally stopped taking clonazepam, and my anxiety started going away. and also helped me to solve some mental issues that I was experiencing from severe PTSD.
nowadays I only cruise in TRT and HRT and I keep microdoses from time to time; thanks to psilocybin I have not touched a single Benzo in over 3 years.
This has been a big deal for me, as well. I keep an oz or 2 around the house and microdosing (with the occasional macrodose….) has helped me reset many habits I felt needed changing but had dug in real deep. Like BFG said below, it is super helpful keeping you present and putting things into perspective , helping see yourself from a distance, allowing a bit broader view of your life & all you are. I wish you the best my man.
This. Every now and then I'll do .5g and go drown in music or a movie or do whatever and just exist in the moment once for a change. Resets your thinking and perspective - like taking a vacation from everyday bs.
Mushrooms are amazing! I don't microdose but every 5 months or so I will eat 5 or 6 grams and go on an excursion in my mind. It seems to reset my me. Gets me thinking right.
Yes they are! Long of the short I did a couple trips in my mid thirties and it reset me. I was an angry, angry bear and I don't know how my fam dealt with me for so long but they did and I did a few trips with an a Veteran buddy of mine and it reset my way of thinking and attitude. I can't hug them enough and we all have become a cohesive unit since then. That shit can save lives and relationships bro.
its been a while since the last time that i did a macro dose, but from time to time a small piece of shroom just to find the key to my problems works amazing for me!
I'm glad that many more people are taking the. natural route of psychedelics than useless meds
@PompsPlace.
I had a piece of a shrooms chocolate bar last weekend. Pretty good stuff. Kinda different feeling compared to when I use to trip on shrooms in my younger years. Absolutely no side effects the next day. I actually felt more mellow. Although, back in the day, Shrooms could go either way with me if I ate too much. I guess these new chocolate bars would be considered microdosing, huh?
It would be very hard to have an accurate micro dosing, but what I used to do with chocolate bars was if the bar came with 12 rectangles, I only ate half of one rectangle, just a small amount of chocolate to only stimulate my brain enough to feel the psilocybin running thru my body, if it was not enough I had another small piece of chocolate.
Yo shrooms have helped me immensely and my cptsd and depression issues my dr proscribed xanax and Prozac for last couple years. Nothing has worked like micodosing!
there is nothing like natural remedies to help deal with our own demons, personally if it was not for micro-dosing i would not be able to get out of my head and i would ended up hurting my family (mentally) more than i did in the past
The problem with Benzodiazepines mate is they work wonders at first for Anxiety, maybe for a month or so - then as time goes on they make it much, much worse. You end up in a state of mind where you don't know if you are coming or going, dead or alive, in and out of excessive sleep and depression etc. You won't want to hear this and it is cliche - But you need to deal with the root cause of these problems mate. The problem with anxiety and avoiding certain uncomfortable situations is it will make you not want to go out and instead stay inside and out of 'Risk' BUT in turn guess what? That then makes you become Agoraphobic because you are use to your safe haven that is your home 24 hours a day. The more you stay in the less you want to go out.
I think a low dose of Test E will help you but only around 100mg per week at first and see how you do with that, you may feel a little anxious after 24hrs as the test peaks in your blood but then you will feel happy and confident. Don't use Test propionate - although this is my favourite test ester it can make you feel very energetic and anxious if you are not use to it, you have to be training and expending energy a lot to be able to deal with it which you are not atm.
Low Vitamin D is due to you staying indoors all the time and being fearful of going outside so you are not receiving any sunlight - this in turn is making you feel more depressive and anxious. Its a vicious circle. Buy some Vit D tablets next time you go to the supermarket and also Folic acid tabs, B12 would probably help you too. I think it would help you to talk to someone such as a psychologist and talk about why you are feeling this way, there will be something underneath somewhere that was the initial cause of all this and then from there you have built and dwelled on everything and it has got much worse. I suspect you have been getting panic attacks also so in turn have become more fearful and avoidant of certain situations. Do not be ashamed to talk to someone or get a referral from a Doctor to see a professional - there is no shame in seeking help
It is also imperative if you choose a Test E that it is a good quality one that will make you feel good, have a read of the reviews and forums and see which people like.
Well written broski!!
What a great and helpful reply, thank you mate. I've been on Valium daily for just over 23 years at 10mg a day, so may prove tricky to come off. Maybe a very slow taper will be the way.
As my Dr is totally against TRT means I will have to try and source a good UGL. From what I understand, some can be very underdosed. I'm in the UK, so will look at UGL reviews online and hopefully come across a name that's well dosed. That would be great if Test could up my mood a bit as I feel so low which is definitely not like me as I'm always happy, albeit anxious. Also my confidence has gone, another thing which is not like me at all. Even friends and family that come over to see me, I feel so anxious, but I hide it well and I don't mention it. Used to have a very high libido, but that's almost gone. When it does come back, very rarely the erections are nowhere near what they used to be.
Thanks again mate --
@Mastiff
No offense to your doctor, but the truth could be that TRT may be the best thing for you, and he doesn’t want to lose a client. As much as we all tend to ignore it. Doctoring is a business, his livelihood. Some doctors don’t want to cure you. They prefer to treat you long term, and keep the client. Keep you on meds, and reap the benefits of the spiff programs the pharmaceutical companies offer them. They are handsomely compensated depending on how many prescriptions they issue per year. Would you keep taking your car back to the same mechanic if he wasn’t fixing the issue? First thing I would do is see a different doctor, and get a second opinion on your medication protocol. I know I suggested getting a long ester testosterone in my first post, which I still think would be a great idea, but seeing a doctor that will prescribe it to your and monitor everything is a better idea. I know that after twenty years, you may really like and trust your doctor, but look at it like this, does he really have YOUR best interest at heart? Against TRT??? That’s a major red flag. Low testosterone has all the symptoms you’re experiencing. Why wouldn’t he want to give you the opportunity to see if it could help, but has no problem shoveling Benzo’s down your throat and keeping you in a zombie state of mind??? That’s very suspect to me.
17 years ago I went through a very bad divorce. Had a two year old daughter at the time and fought a devastating custody battle to be able to have joint custody. I remember being at work and receiving a call from my lawyer telling me that my exwife had just turned in a throw away gun to the police that she found in our home, and that I was going to have to answer to this. I immediately felt like I couldn’t get up from my desk, and my heart felt like it was going to explode. Never in my life had I felt like this, and I sat there not knowing what to do. I was the General Manager of a large company at the time and was embarrassed to pick up the phone and call for help. My assistant happened to walk in my office and immediately noticed something was wrong. She asked me a few questions and told me to stay still and try to relax, and that she woul be right back. I thought she was going to call an ambulance, but instead comes back with a glass of water and a blue pill. It was a Xanax. I had heard of people taking them to party, but I had no experience with anxiety or any drugs that go with it, so I was a little worried. She explained that I should feel a lot better in about fifteen minutes. Well, I trusted her, and it worked. The following day I thanked her, and she explained that due to the circumstances, I was having an anxiety attack. She gave me her doctors info and advised me on how to secure a prescription for Xanax. I followed her instructions, and voila, I had a thirty day prescription of two 1mg pills per day. Being pretty experienced with street drugs, I knew that this dosage had to be too extreme to function, so I would take one every morning before work, and I would be ok. I really only cared about work hours because I preferred to smoke pot after hours like I had been since I was about 16 years old. This went on for about a month, until I went away on a planned vacation to Jamaica. It was a famous singles resort, so I didn’t want to be a zombie all week. Problem was that I would now wake up with a slight anxiety, like a devil on my shoulder prompting me to take my Xanax. I refused to do it, and smoked a joint instead. Well, it worked. Only issue is that now I was also high, so this wasn’t going to be a solution at work. When I got back from vacation, I wasn’t waking up with the anxiety anymore. Although, as soon as I had a cup a coffee, bam, anxiety was back in full force. Now what? I’m at work and can’t be high, so out come the Xanax. This time, I decided to take half of a pill. It still worked, and I wasn’t as drowsy. Problem was, the next morning I woke up with full blown anxiety again, so I popped another 1/2 Xanax. Finally, the weekend arrives. I wake up Saturday morning with anxiety and smoke a joint instead. I’m fine. Stayed the hell away from coffee for a long time afterwards. Monday morning, I woke up without anxiety. At that moment I realized that Xanax is designed to keep you a patient. You can ween yourself off, but things like coffee, soda, etc will trigger the anxiety again, leading you back to the Xanax. That was my moment of enlightenment. Guess what I did that day???? I joined a gym! Life immediately got better. Bought a new condo, and an old juice head friend from my early twenties was recently divorced and owned the condo across the way. He was still huge, and obviously running gear. So i asked him to get me some gear and he told me that at my age (38 at the time) it wasn’t a good idea. I kept pressing him to hook me up, but he wouldn’t. What he did do is give me contact info for a sports medicine physician in our area. Told me to go see him and to honestly explain my situation to him. I did what he advised and after a full physical and blood test, the doctor told me that my testosterone was definitely low, probably due to smoking so much pot, and that he would like to prescribe me a TRT protocol. The rest is history. To this day I have never taken a Xanax again and know that as well as they work, they’re designed to destroy you as a functional human being.
Sorry for the long story, but if sharing my fucked up experience with you ends up helping you with yours, it would make me very happy. All kidding aside, get a second opinion, right away.
Godspeed, Bro! You’re going to beat this shit.
Much respect from me, well written. how they did it.
I’m thinking you probably already know this, but you need to fix that fella. Quite probably a huge part of your current situation.
I am in the UK also buddy - will send you an FR and do my best to help you with everything I can.
^Very well written/said. ^
Your the man! I knew you would chime in and spit some knowledge.
@Diesel77 and @Pumped_ thankyou both for your kind words guys
If you get on on TRT just remember your anxiety problems. A buddy of mine start just s 250mg/week cycle and his anxiety went through the roof, where he couldnt even sleep at night, and far worse symptoms he thought he was dying each night, his attacks were so bad. Found out it was his estrogen causing it and the test was causing the estrogen rise.
I would suggest getting on TRT if it helps you. A longer acting ester like enanthate or cypionate will be more mellow IMO. It will gradually lift your levels and with regular injections keep you fairly high. I prefer to inject all my gear daily to keep serum concentration levels at a peak but that’s just me. Sorry to hear you going through this brother. Get on TRT and with some good test cyp and give it 2-3 weeks to do it’s thing and raise your levels. Just my 2 centavos.
I’m sure Jake and a few of the other guys with some more insight will chime in. Hang in there bro.
