+ 1 Roll Call on Prescribed TRT Dosage & Timeframes

ad

Just wondering what everyone is being prescribed out there for TRT? Kind of curious to take stock of dosages and duration of treatment protocol. Anyone been on 10 or 20 years?

My doctor bumped me from 200mgs/weekly to 240mgs/weekly of test enanthate. Recently dropped arimidex from the regimen because of negative sides. Now trying a more naturalistic approach using 200 mgs of DIM and grape seed extract powder for aromatase / estrogen management. Been on 6 months and going strong...

What is the best choice for managing E2 levels without negatively affecting HDL ratios?

deepseadiver's picture

Exactly what ryaroberts said.

200mg test cyp/week

750 iu hcg 2x week

.25mg anastrozle 2x week

My docs cool he gave me some Deca for "joint Pain" too.

200mg shot once per week, HCG and anti-estro, my levels run around 1000. Been doing this for a little over a year.

bigdipper77's picture

My trt is 200mg every week split into two shots. Been on for about a year and a half. Test levels stand around 1200.

My urologist put me on trt about 5 weeks ago and just got my first blood results today. Been on 120 mg test cyp every 5 days and total test was 850 and free test was 255 and doc said free test was a little high.

She wanted me to do 200 mg every 2 weeks but I talked her into 100 mg ew instead. I decided to go with 120 mg every 5 days based on other people's experience.

She wants me to meet with an endocrinologist next week for some more specific blood work and to rule out my pituitary gland and check my e levels.

So far 120 mg every 5 days seems to be working well. I'll be running a mini blast here soon after next weeks bloods with the endo.

Watch out for 4-5 months down the road when you have completely gone into 100% hypogonadism. Right now you're likely reading a bit higher on your testosterone bloods because your natural testosterone isn't completely shut off from production, so is combining with the extraneous testosterone dosage.

Once your natural testosterone production has completely ceased, you may have to bump your dosage up a bit to account for this discrepancy. Example: if you're in the 800's now, you might drop down to the 600's... etc.

Started TRT in early 2016 and urologist set me at 200 mg Test C per week. Blood tests with doc have shown this keeps me a little above mid range and no estro problems so no extra meds from doc. This was after trying Androgel for many months with my regular doctor and it really didn't do much at all for me.

Ya, the physiologic improvement from testosterone can truly be staggering. When I first walked into my physician's office my (bad) cholesterol was high @ 223, my glucose was high @ 103, my total testosterone in the dumpster @ 227, and my free test @ a nice low of 5.8.

Six months later my (bad) cholesterol has dropped down to 176, my glucose level is now 75, my total test and free test ranges aimed on the high side of optimal targeting.

I've gained muscle, lost fat, but more importantly feel energized again! I'm no longer moody, have better emotional clarity, mental focus, exude stronger confidence, libido is consistently on fire, and now can keep up pace with extracurricular sports and hobbies that I was slacking on due to lack of "motivational drive."

vhman's picture

I'm glad you're doing well. Make sure to keep up with your diet and especially your blood pressure. I've been on trt for about five years and it's been great. The only issue I've had is my blood pressure. It's always been just a touch high, but trt brought it to the high end of things. I talked to my doctor and got on a BP medication and it's been perfect ever since. Also, donating blood helps with BP and your hemocrit levels.
Best of luck.

Amorphous Metal's picture

Ya, I donate whole blood as much as allowed at the blood bank - usually every 2 months or so. It definitely makes a difference in my hemocrit levels and also is a general health booster. Plus, I know it goes to those in need of a transfusion - so it's good civic virtue!

+1 for that share. Good work getting back to living life.

Thanks bro!

My update report on the natural / holistic method of estrogen management using DIM and grape seed extract powder is that there has unfortunately been no degree of success.

My estrogen started to creep up higher and higher. Undisputable indications started to happen like grogginess and lethargy, water retention / bloat and the disappearance of morning wood. Hell that last aspect was a real wake up call! When I say disappearance, I mean like complete inability to get and keep an erection. This can be problematic when you're married and have always had a healthy sexual appetite. My wife knew something was severely amiss.

When I got off the arimidex, several weeks back, my E2 had gone up to 45. The DIM was an experiment to try and control E2 into an optimal range of 18-30. Obviously the reverse happened. I'm not due for bloods for another week, but I'm sure with my contra indications above, that my estrogen had skyrocketed. I had some 2.5 mg tabs of letrozole around and split one tab into halves. I took 1.25 mgs one day and then 1.25 mgs another 3 days later. Letro has an active half live of 2 days. This immediately helped.

I didn't want to collapse my estrogen into oblivion, so went back on the arimidex @ 1.5 mgs / week, which equates to .50 every other day Mon / Wed / Fri. Altogether, my energy has returned, water retention gone, but more importantly morning wood and overall sexual prowess is back again!

Still battling the fucking arimidex though. You might recall the ear ringing I mentioned on this thread. That has returned again. At this stage I am going to discuss with my doctor micro dosing the letro as my aromatase inhibitor each week. Maybe like 1.25 mgs every ten days or something. Arimidex just doesn't seem to treat my body right and throws me out of balance with side effects like headaches and ear-ringing.

Anyhow, that's my case study on DIM. Good in theory but not so much in practice. Keep in mind however that I tend to aromatize heavily and am on 240 mgs test enthanate per week. Others may experience different results due to innate body chemistry.

Have you tried exemastane? I much prefer it to arimadex. I prefer liquid suspension exemastane vs pill form for my trt dose as it's easier to take consistent smaller doses compared to trying cut a tiny pill into even smaller pieces.

workoutnut22's picture

What do you like better about exemastane? I'm interested in using it with my trt. Is it something you take daily or 2 to 3 times per week like the others?

tsetrayman's picture

I just started TRT a year ago at age 29 diagnosed with hypogonadism, always wondered why I felt so shitty all the time. Tried antidepressants and vitamins to no avail. Finally I saw a doc who tested my testosterone levels and put me on 200mg test cyp a week. I've never felt better since I was a teenager.

bigdipper77's picture

My doctor has pescribed 200mg weekly of test cyp and i have been on trt for the past year and a half. I blast every 4th month or so for 8 weeks then back on trt. Get blood work every 3-4 months to make sure all is in check.

333's picture

Holy shit i know right 240 a week he should ask his doctor if he wants to go into business on 100 bucks per referrals

333's picture

Dam 200 a month not even 50mg a week I bet your pop is glad you know what's up with trt

DonutMan's picture

160 mg a week of test cyp.
The 2 days prior I take hcg at 250iu each dose (500iu)

Three years at 50mg E3D. My insurance doesn't pay for AIs, so I use letrozole - about quarter a tab of 2.5mg very 10 days.

GrowMore's picture

Why do you use letro PEZ?

Muffins's picture

Mostly because dosing once every ten days is as convenient as it's gets with AIs. The secondary thought to my choice is since I am not filling AIs from the pharmacy it is technically illegal to have them. This dosing schedule also fits in with any trips my employer sends me off to, so I am not flying dirty.

zeusmarada's picture

I'm curious, what did your E numbers look like before you dropped Arimidex, then after? And how do your E numbers look now with your new protocol for E management?

Amorphous Metal's picture

Just recently dropped the arimidex a week before testing on 12/23/16. When I was on, my estradiol was 18. Got results back this Monday and it had spiked to 46. My total testosterone was 674 and my free test was 23 - thus the decision to move the dosage slightly upward to 240mgs/weekly. My doctor is an anti-aging practitioner and an advocate of optimizing for peak hormone performance and health.

I retest again in 2 weeks, so it will be interesting to see what 200 mgs/daily of DIM alongside a half teaspoon daily of grape seed extract powder has done in managing my E2 levels downward. If it is still in the 40's or has gone higher, I may request small incremental dosages of lerozole for trial as my AI. Arimidex gave me severe headaches and ear-ringing (tinnitus) on 1mg/weekly (.50mgs/split dosage).

So far haven't noticed any bloat, puffy nipples, extra hunger, lethargy or libido issues which are the textbook cases of higher creeping estrogen levels...

zeusmarada's picture

Please keep us all posted when you get those updated tests! I'm super curious to see your experiences, and perhaps if I can also mimic your own choices for anti-e's. If it works, it's cheaper and safer than these drugs that we use. Doctors prescribe cancer patients these anti-e drugs. They work, but if there's a safer (and legal) way to keep E in check, I'm all for experimenting. Thanks for this feedback!

Only 674 at 200 mg is your doctor office under a bridge cause he's got some bunk stuff man you should be like 800+ at 200 if it's doctor prescription

Ha ha ha... nope, my gear is the BOMB straight from the Costco pharmacy. I get the cleanest, purest, most delicious testosterone enanthate... Hikma Farmaceutica (Portugal) distributed by Watson.

As an aside - for anyone health conscious out there about GMO's, ALL test cypionate that I've run across from Walgreen's to Costco has all been made from cottonseed oil as a carrier base. Cotton is an industrial product and highly GMO'd. The last thing I want to put into my body twice a week for life is a Frankenstein science experiment.

Most of the imported testosterone enanthate is made from sesame seed oil as a base carrier agent. Way BETTER - clean and more natural!
