35 w/ Very Low Test..

ad

Hey Everyone, so I'm 35 & a complete newb, I got blood work back from my DR & posted results below. I found this site after researching to get reputable test online to save money over what my DR office is charging. I know how 'normal' the ranges are that my lab slip had on it, but i posted anyway.

Total Test : 100 ng/dl (range 250-1100 ng/dl)
Free Test : 21.2 pg/ml (range 35.0-155.0 pg/ml)
DHEA Sulfate : 94 mcg/dl (range 110-370mcg/dl)
FSH : 9.7mIU/ml (range 1.5 - 12.4 mIU/ml)
LH: 6.9 (range 3-10 mIU/mL)
SHBG : 19 (range 10-50nmol/L)

Estrogens, Fractionedated, Etserone : <10 (range <=68 pg/ml)
Estradiol : 12 (range <=29 pg/ml)
Estriol, Serum : <0.10 (range <=0.18 ng/ml)

Luckily, I haven't had depression, but probably have had most other signs of low T for 3-4 years. Especially getting weaker, tired, concentration, etc. The DR prescribed injections at his office, but it is only 1/2 CC (100mg) of Test Cyp every 3 weeks at $25 each shot. Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover any form of test boosts (inj, patch or cream). I'm also taking DHEA 50mg, said he'll check blood again in 3 month to make sure estrogen isn't getting high..

From what I've been reading/researching, the amount I'm getting isn't nearly enough for where I should be. I had my 1st injection Wed, I do feel a little more energy, but nothing drastic. Also, I've never used gear prior, so I don't know wtf is going on w/ me.. Maybe too much drinking & taking pain killers a little to much. I've stopped everything I can think that can affect test & and changed my diet, but I don't know if it'll make any difference?

I had a few questions I'm hoping to get help with:

  • How much does 100mg actually raise your testosterone?

  • I've been reading the half life of Test C is about 3 weeks? Which is maybe why DR said every 3 weeks. But, just about all I've read is that it should be about 100-125mg per week. Is that about right?

  • What is a good healthy level of normal Total & Free test to shoot for? From what I understand Free test is what's the most important?

  • Should I be taking HCG and/or Arimidex to stop estrogen conversion & try to get the boys producing again? Has anyone ever tried HCG only as a TRT?

  • Is a 100mg a week (or 3 weeks) enough to shut down test production?

Sorry for the novel, I just found out this week, so I'm still pretty behind on learning everything I need to know. I'm bummed on the low T, but relieved that I can start addressing my problems. I just want to make sure I don't do anything stupid that could make things worse or injure myself long the way. Also, I want to get enough info to go back to my DR and get my test higher if I need too. Thanks in advance!

The DR's nurse called me today w/ follow up blood test they didn't do before (LH & SHBG, which I updated above), they nurse just said "well, the Dr reviewed it and everything is normal (no signs of pit issues), so he said just continue with T therapy" (100mg e3wks!). Yeah, that's not going to work, I can't wait to actually talk to him so I can explain the problems with what he wants me to do. I'm going to try to convince him to give me a script for test with at least 100mg's a week (if cyp or eth).

It's really odd that my LH is normal, have low estrogens & SHGB and super low test. Everything is down! Seems like it points to faulty regulation/neg feedback loop, like my body thinks the low levels are correct? If my sack couldn't produce test correctly and I had a good negative feedback loop, then wouldn't my LH be really high? Since my DHEA was really low as well, I've been taking a 50mg a day to supplement as my other vitamins/minerals are normal, maybe it's played a part in reducing my overall levels so dramatically since it is a precursor? I'm going to get a blood test prior to my next shot of cyp to see if DHEA supps have made any difference.

I'm fine w/ going on trt as I dont think there is anyway I can push my levels where I want to be 500-1000 (wherever I feel best, which I'm sure will take a while to figure out), but I'd love to know what is actually going on for a little piece of mind.

Forgot to ask, is HCG typically ok to use long term?

Thanks! The Dr took more tests last week to see if he can he see anything, I really don't know what the cause is.. I knew something was wrong, I just wish I would have got it checked years ago!

thanks bro, i'll hit you up. As far as the doc, yeah, I have an appt next month to approach him w/ as much info as I can to get him to up the dosage. If not, i'll will def look elsewhere. Maybe I should see an endo as well just to make sure I can get boosted natural test as well??

just my opinion but if your test is naturally low i would ask your doctor for a rx of test and run it the way he says to.

I appreciate the response, I agree for the most part. The problem is that I have a feeling that one 100mg of cyp every three wks is going to put me on high/low roller coaster and isn't enough to maintain high/healthy normal levels. Im looking help with what test levels should be normally and how to go about it from guys on hrt. I'm looking to get as much info as u can to go back to him and get my shit much higher. I went from great shape, lots of energy and strong up until about 30, then have declined a lot since. Know that I know what my problem is, I know I can get back to feeling good again..

My doctor put me at age 40, on 2 androderm patches/d (about 10mg) . .this was enough to take me up to about 500 ng/dl of T ..still not enough.

I was to attend a Coaching seminar in Sweden and have to keep up with Coaches half my age, so the Dr. gave me Test-E at 250mg bi-weekly stacked with the patches . .it was like I found the Holy Grail- strength, alertness, energy, libido . .even treated work without anxiety.
Now he balked at continuing, so I found e-roids and legit suppliers . .running a simple 250mg Test-E about every 5 days w/ the patches . .he thinks the patches are now working quite effectively (sheesh)
I'd recommend the books by Nelson Vergel on Testosterone replacement- simple, well written and easy how-to for everything.
With your readings, . .shit happens . .but consider this will be long term replacement therapy.
There is a "jump start the HPTA Axis" protocol in the book using HCH, Nolva, etc. . . .you may wish to give a try first.
Either way, you've taken positive steps to regaining control . .read, read and read more . .the more you are in charge, the better things will come out.
Best of luck buddy
Mike
