It don't pay to be a police officer these days, to protect and serve, to put your own life on the line, with having your own family and children, to protect ignorant people that look for any reason for a law suit, when the so called victim is in the wrong. WTF? Why do these people riot, and cause more crime? Same goes for the military, nobody is forced to take these jobs, yet they do every second, minute, hour, to protect the innocent, and when their own life is in jeopardy, and they do what they are trained to do, there's always someone out there trying to say they've done wrong. Before you respond, put yourself in that officers shoes, while visions of your wife and children, and your own life are flashing through your head. What would you do?

putting myself in "their" shoes, I am ex-military and until you have been in a situation where life and death hang in the balance, posting what "you"(in general) think should be done is not even relevant. The flip side is just because your trained a certain way, there are other's that are trained the same way, it's a catch22 and it's a bitch!
Not to mention..if u see some1 selling singles in New York ya gotta choke em out:-(
What's this world coming to-dying over selling a few cigs?
It sucks the old dude died, but damn that choke hold was weak and if you are that damn fat and out of shape you probably shouldn't resist arrest.
Not to side with the cops because I hate cops but shit, I choke my girlfriend durin sex harder than that guy was choked.
That technically wasn't even considered a choke hold but rather a submissive hold. He wasn't choked to death, which is what a lot of people can't seem to understand for some reason. Did the stress of the situation lead to his death? Yeah definitely. Could more have been done to save him? I suppose so (I'm not really sure what could've been done aside from immediately calling EMTs and following instructions from them).
LOL! I hope you at least yelled citizens arrest.
AnonI would shoot the guy.... Bang bang... Just like the officer did
I would just "Bang" because I'm a better shot.
Black linemen sized 300lb felon motherfucker stoned off his ass charging someone with a gun being told to stop over and over after already being shot.. and he gets shot more when he doesnt stop or get on the ground resulting in his death? Physical evidence and court testimonies prove this?
But was the shooter white?
Yeah
RACISM! Because pulling the race card on a white person before seeing facts couldn't be racist
Correct me if im wrong, but I believe that the problem started when, people began to have a small peaceful protest, and they were tear-gassed. Adults, teens, I heard there were some kids in there too.
Now like you said place yourself in the community shoes, and so far all you knew was, "Some "kid" got shot 6 times, then 2-3 times more once he was on the floor, and took 4 hours to get his body off the floor. They make a peaceful protest and then they get teared gassed.
Now I don't know about you but if I felt like someone is trying to take away my right to assemble, I would be really pissed. Then what the media did, was; "HEY!! I know let's stop everyone from uniting and turn this into a racial thing before the entire community tries to get a check and balance on us.
*community misinformed.
*peaceful gathered broken up by teared gassed.
*media turned it into a racial thing, and stopped it from becoming a problem on their pocket.
That was certainly not a form of peaceful protesting... I'm sure that a handful of idiots ruined it for a lot of people by starting to throw shit at the cops, and obviously they retaliated accordingly.
You can always manage to find a handful of swinging dicks who ruin an otherwise good, orderly, peaceful thing for the rest of them.
Note: I'm not for or against the protesting, I simply don't have the energy to follow these things. I am for everyone's right to peacefully assemble, regardless of the cause or opinion. I am also for breaking things up the minute they go south and get a snowball effect going. I am NOT for undercovers inciting shit for the sake of causing a response against an otherwise peaceful demonstration.
Those were NOT peaceful protests, and as far as I'm conerned, the only gas they should have used was cyanide.
Spot on Goth....
Really? You must not have been watching the live streams like many of us were. When the bottles and rocks started flying from the crowd that was when the smoke grenades started. They weren't primarily using tear gas, it was just smoke to disperse the crowd. I am not saying no tear gas was used but it was far less.
I am saddened an 18 year old lost his life, but for me this was simply a case of instant karma.
Totally agree with you, if the news didn't tickle truth the people to make it seem way worst than what it was, there wouldn't be so much to talk about.
Linebacker-size young man fights police officer and gets shot. rather than; poor little, innocent, soon to be college boy gets shot by RedNeck with a badge. (Didn't help that the KKK got him $300,000)
I wasn't watching the live streams, didn't think anyone was. I'm talking about the first protest the one hours after the shooting. At the time it wasn't nation wide news.
I started to get reddit alerts while I was waiting for a truck delivery around 2-3 A.M. Around that time is when people stared surrounding the police station and shooting at it. Then after that every following protest would boil up by some rotten apples.
Anyhow, my point is that if, we are okay with people not being able to do peaceful protest and, we are okay with police stations getting military grade weapons and vehicles. Soon we will all be screwed..
I don't think too many people are okay with any of the things you mention. The police getting military gear is now getting scrutinized much more thoroughly .
A black person murders a white person and no one bats a fucking eye, a white person murders a black person and he's automatically a fucking racist and Al Sharptens old ass comes outta the wood works and then the protest start! Double standard? Fucking right!! The fck outta here with your race card B.s.!
NBC.......CNN.......HLN.......MSNBC....
these liberal media outlets are working hard to ensure that::::
A......the economy is destroyed by promoting the agendas of select corporations
B.......there is racial strife between blacks and whites in this country....the media loves a good riot.
C.......we STAY at war with other countries in order to keep people in jobs in the defense industry.
D........we lose freedom in a continuous fashion,..using war and terrorism to justify it.
Think about the fact that NBC has given that maggot All Sharp ton his own show. Until people wake up, this is only going to get worse.
NO police officer in this country should be complicit to NBC's bullshit. The problem is cops also LOVE their unions....so don't be surprised that union mentality...(the one that says...."YOU OWE ME EVERYTHING" ) is what is getting them fucked now.
AnonI've been waiting for you to chime in boss:) always love your take on things
Now it has turned into a no win situation. The last of the good l.e. in that town/area working there will leave-along with shop owners and owners of running businesses burned to the ground. Why stay there? I was raised to believe that there are awful as well as decent cops working-but one thing was the same-when they said stop, halt, get out of the car,you better do it. Call a attorney later from jail. At least you are alive to make that call lol
AnonSo true bro. I've been taken out of my vehicle by gunpoint and even have been handcuffed at gun point. The one common thing is each time I was given an order at gun point is not once did I ever think of doing anything but what I was ordered to do!!!
Please don't shoot please don't sneeze please don't slip cuz I don't wanna die! Martyrdom has never looked like a fun place to visit to me
Aint that the truth!
Most police officer's killed or died from medical issues have been prior military. So I guess if you hate cops you hate military. Check ODMP and see. They had a Vet Administration police officer died from a heart attack and he was a Vietnam vet. I just don't understand cop haters...I know some cops that have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. In my opinion the best cops are prior military or current reserve status. Very cool under pressure and know when to engage.
Thats why they make the best cops because they were military trained first....cops are now being trained that we the citizenry are the enemy fortunately most of the military still uphold the constitution or at least they believe they are fighting to keep our country free and the citizenry safe even if thats not what any of these wars are about.
i do not agree that if you hate cops you hate the military i think we do however hate the militarization of the police that is currently happening
Military people can be good cops, but they can also be very bad ones as well. I can't say that I am real comfortable taking a kid straight off the streets of Kabul, slapping a badge on him and cutting him loose on the streets of America. We just don't know if they can all switch gears like that. The last thing we need is them looking at civilians as possible enemy combatants. Cops are not and never were meant to be a military force.
I agree with you...I got it a little wrong. I can see why people got mad.
I have the upmost respect for our military, but I must admit I'm a cop hater... I see them as tax collectors more than anything else.
This has got to be one of the dumbest generalizations that I've ever read: i guess if you hate cops you hate military
Holy shit brother, I suggest getting some sort of education or getting out a little.
Hell you might as well take that generalization a little further. Most military are former High school athletes so if you hate military then you sure as hell hate high school athletes..who were once children so you must hate all children! you bastard!
AnonLmao:D
Lol
AnonReally? The best? Maybe the soldiers that didn't return so spooked they patrol their house to protect their family from the insurgents. I'm literally not making this up. This is a friend of mine's son. Patrolling all night long with his AR. He is tormented and refuses to get help and talk to somebody. He needs to cuz he is loved and needed by his young son. There are lots of men and women who return home and simply arent ready to serve as Law Enforcement. Bro you shouldn't generalize cuz when people generalize they are guaranteed to be wrong 100% of the time. There are always exceptions.
Sorry but I don't want a cop to blindly follow orders. That's a recipe for disaster. I want my law enforcement men and women to use their moral conviction as part of their decision making. I want them to also use their brain which hopefully was vigorously tested prior to gaining their badge and gun. Cops should not be stupid people. High IQ's High moral fiber and of course highly trained and cool under pressure also most importantly they must know the law beyond a doubt. Some of the best cops aren't ex military. Being ex military does not mean you hold the exclusive title of being fearless or precise or disciplined or a warrior. IMO that is something that is born with you. Certainly life experiences shape these facets as well as Service itself. I never served so my opinion means little. I just think it's a mistake to generalize and say ex military makes the best cops. Good honorable men and women who believe in serving their communities and are willing to lay down their life for the Law make the best cops. Also there are lots of terrible shitty cops who need their badges and guns stripped of them. Lots of Cops are flat out criminals but you won't ever find me generalizing and say all cops are like that. Just like anything there are good and bad.
Once I gained a position at work that allowed me to do the hiring I made it a personal mission to hire as many servicemen and women as I could. I chose to walk the walk and help put these warriors back to work unlike so many who raise their hand to their hearts during the national anthem and yet when the shit really counts they always find an excuse to pass these folks over. I've had my fair share of excellent hires that perform their duties with precision and pride within this specific demographic but surprisingly I have had my fair share of fucking lazy retards that make me wonder how the fuck the became soldiers. So my opinion is based on personal experience as much as simple opinion.
Sorry for being off topic I was just responding to the post above.
You know, I don't know many cops, but I know one. He is married to my cousin. One day chilling at a BBQ at my uncle’s house, he tells me:
Cop: "Man, Kikkerland I need to change my fence. It is 6 feet high and the LAW says it was to be 3 feet tall. Do you know where I can buy the wood, or how much it would be?"
Me: "Is the wood of your fence too old or rotten?
Cop: No.
Me: Well then just use that wood (save some money).
Cop: but its 6 feet high, and it needs to be 3 ft. (You could hear him getting a bit edgy).
Me: I know, I heard you. Cut the wood and make it 3 feet high, instead of buying new wood.
This blew his socks off! He gave me the mile stare and sat there in silence, and then asked...
Cop: Do you know how to use a table saw?
This gentle Man can’t do critical thinking but, passed those "critical thinking" test.
Saludos compa.
really...."lots of cops are flat out criminals" lol
x2
The BrainSniff sniff
That smells like the retort of a police officer .
offended?
AnonJust in my town alone recently one cop was charged with raping 3 women while on duty and in the back of his cruiser. Another negligently left his firearm in reach of his young daughter who then accidentally shot and killed herself. To me that is inexcusable. That's as bad as a Junkie leaving their heroin needle out and their kid shooting up and dying from it. Another was busted in a nearby major city in a hotel with a prostitute and crystal meth.
Do we need to talk about rampart in Los Angeles?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rampart_scandal
Or certain Agents on the border?
http://bordercorruption.apps.cironline.org/#all
Funny how out of everything I wrote you only focused on the sentence about some of them being criminals as well. That still doesn't make them all criminals. Here's a small certainty for you; Crime is in every job, every agency, every portion of human life on planet earth. Wake up and open your eyes.
Surely you aren't arguing this? Nobody knows the exact number thanks in large part to the "thin blue line" but you all and we all know it is true.
yes sir....point taken
You said it better than I could. Excellent truth.
Personally I am very hesitant to endorse combat veterans that most likely suffer some form of PTSD wearing a badge. It isn't their fault that the wiring in their brains are different now but placing them in a possibly adversarial position against citizens is a recipe for trouble.
Just wondering if you think going to Vietnam, Afghanistan, or Iraq helped the citizens of this country or those countries at all? And if you think it helped us, how so?
+1
You're probably too young to remember but THAT is exactly the attitude we had towards our solders during the Vietnam war. Blaming them for the choices of our government.
And before you retort that you didn't mean that, let me say then, your comment is completely out of context for this thread.
When you are in service to our community, you have a choice when the shit hits the fan. Run for cover, or stand in harms way for the greater good. It's those people we honor. It's the uniform we honor. It's not about honoring each singular individual that does service.
I am 40 and educated. If I had served in Vietnam, Afghanistan, or Iraq, I could only be proud of how I stood together with my fellow soldiers and supported them. I am proud of them. I would never go to war for corrupted reasons or lies unless drafted. I do feel for Vietnam vets who were treated like shit. That "war"/police action was a huge fail. I just cant be proud to be a hired goon for a corrupt govt that sends its sons to die on the premise of lies for the benifit of war profiteers and govt contractors. Soldiers are pawns in a game that the 99% are all losing.
Way off topic I know
Respect to all the brave who have served no matter what assclown sent them to die or be traumatized with little support upon their return.
Awsome post brother.
Ditto!
Sorry but what does whether these wars were warranted or not have to do with his opinion that ex military make better reliable police who have experienced real war and conflict
Ex military who have been in real war and conflict are prepared for the same at home against their own citizens that they are (supposedly) charged with serving and protecting. I'm always amazed at people who are on sites like this that are inherently about stuff that isn't legal being pro cop. Just wait until you or a loved one gets charged with a crime, whether warranted or not, and goes through the heartless ugly brutality of these above-the-law thugs, and you will get a lesson in reality. Cop's jobs are to harass and manufacture bullshit police reports to aid the District Attorney in convicting each and every arrests REGARDLESS OF GUILT OR INNOCENCE. If you don't believe that, research the way our system of (in)justice is set up: Its a system of adversarial justice, "The adversarial system is the two-sided structure under which criminal trial courts operate that pits the prosecution against the defense. Justice is done when the most effective adversary is able to convince the judge or jury that his or her perspective on the case is the correct one." Cops in our country think of themselves as "Us," and the rest of us who pay their salary as "Them."
Again ,and this is why I no longer waste my time in the forums, someone gives a response that has absolutely nothing to do with the post they responded to. My post was clearly pointing out how whether the wars cited were important to the mans opinion that ex military make better soldiers. It seems noone on here can have a linear conversation on controversial topics anymore. Here's a suggestion. If you have an opinion then start your own fucking post lines. Don't respond to someone when it has absolutely nothing to do with the prior post.
This is basically the relevance of your post to what I said. "What's the weather like outside." You:"I like turtles"
And if you truly believe all cops have the "us" vs. "Them" mentality then you clearly grew up in a bad area or just have a thing against the man for no reason. And the whole "wait til you or a family member" comment is just stupid. Sorry other than my actions here my family doesn't put themselves in positions to be arrested whether it be falsely or just.
And your whole us vs them thing is absolutely bullshit. I have friends who are police, judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys. I see and hear all sides and what you're saying is untrue when it comes to the system as a whole don't take your experience and generalize.
Now. Do you see how I did that? I read your post. Picked out your opinions and rebutted them. What I didn't do ,like you and a few others on this post have done, is read your post then write a page long response completely irrelevant to what I was answering
Ex military may be better police because they have experience with actual threats and have used descretion in volitile situations and may not be as scared of civilians to feel the need to shoot the unarmed. Identifying an actual dangerous enemy is an invaluable skill to keep the public and officer as safe as possible.
Many cops treat non imminent threats (kids, old guys women)like that person is a grenade with the pin pulled.
If you don't have the heart to be a cop without abusing power or hurting non combatants, find another job.
Thank you for actually responding to the original opinion.
However what makes you qualified to judge their response to a situation. How do you know they're not an imminent threat? Do you know each and every person in the world personally? So you know how they'd react in a specific situation?
Didn't think so. Neither do the police. And that's why they will treat every party involved in a hostile situation the same until things are figured out. Man, woman, kid. Doesn't matter. All three are capable of committing the same crimes and subject to the same emotion.
I don't support either side but I do support being a realist and seeing the situation as a whole instead of crucifying people without seeing things from their perspective. Aka police not knowing which situation it will be where someone finally pulls a weapon. So they treat every one like someone will
And let me ask you this. What would happen to this country should every single police, fire, and emt employee take off for a week? So stop with the whole police are corrupt bullshit. Honestly. Id rather deal with some corrupt cops than the fuckin Wild West
Excellent.
A further problem with our police system is that there are many bad cops, and many good cops. But, the good ones can't won't speak out against the bad ones for understandable reasons (brother officer, they need to know they'll have their back up, etc.) and unacceptable reasons (they don't want to rock the boat because they want to keep their high salary), so, being in tacit complicity, even the good ones are in a sense bad.
