Dude I have the same problem. Best of luck I know I'd get the procedure if insurance covered it. It is that or take the allegedly suppressive antihistamines. I know id eat alot healthier without my taste haha.

Two nasal septoplasty's; One turbinoplasty. Broken three times. My only mistake was not shopping around for the doctor. The first doctor led to the second surgery since he basically did not or could not do his job. My advice is to get two or three opinions.

Two years ago I felt I needed to take a look at another operation. One doctor told me he definitely needed to operate. Then I went to a friends referral and he told me my septum was perfect and not to undergo surgery.

Please brother get more than one opinion.

Man I'm going through the same thing only mine is just a breathing issue, I can't breath with out nose spray and it's been that way for almost two years. The people I've talked to that have had it done have all said it was worth it. None ever said anything about loss of smell or taste. I'm just waiting on my referral to go through, then it's off to the nose doctor. I'll probably wait until the fall to mess with it. Got another vacation I gotta take first. Lol

My best friend had similar issues and had it done quite a few yrs ago, but...then he started dating all these nasty kind of dirty women....he claims that because his sense of taste and smell had diminished some, he could eat more p...y, ....and yes he did marry one of those chicks, great personality tho!...
Seriously tho, he did fine and only slight loss of senses....a Small price to pay for relief

I had my septum done about 6 years ago. They drilled the bone as well, but wouldn't fix the crushed areas because insurance deemed it cosmetic.
In the end, it was the biggest waste of my life ever. The bone structure is still smashed in on one side, and to this day if I push on the bridge of my nose, my front teeth feel cocaine numb. It goes away as soon as I take off pressure. I have some lasting nerve damage from it, and my septum is deviated again, conforming to the bone structure.
I'm not a sissy, but I felt like Arnold in total recall with all the shit they were pulling out of my nose. Rotting scab formations, the tubes and gauze.
I don't feel like it did me any favors at all, other than a slow recovery time and some odd looks when you come off the squat rack with a nose bleed.
Allergies are really my worst enemy though. Your ent will most likely recommend an allergy test. For me, they had me coming in twice a week for 3 years. I missed a few shots about a year into it. As soon as I did, I would regress about 5 sessions. They eventually told me at some point my bony would just revert back to normal and I'd have to repeat the entire process. So I said screw it and just deal with it and take Claritin regularly.
Not to dissuade you if you feel that it will help, but my experience sucked. If I could go back I wouldn't have done it. It didn't change anything, it just cost a lot of time and money, and the healing process was a bitch. Cartilage sucks where healing is concerned. Without that in the equation, it may not be as bad.

I've had 3 major sinus surgeries. My sense of taste and smell were both effected (not gone just dulled) but it was well worth it now being able to breathe and not getting sinus infections multiple times a year. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed as well. The recovery wasn't fun but it is well worth it in my opinion. Good luck my mam

I don't know if this will help but my cousin had a deviated septum and had to get a burning metal rod shoved up his nose and burned cause of his nose bleeds don't said he had a high chance of not being able to taste after it but he can just like before

I had one of my sinuses (nostrels) re-opened up as it was approximately 60% blocked from a previous hockey puck in the face injury many years ago. My problem was I couldnt breath normally especially while sleeping. It did work once all done and helped resolve most of the problem in the end. Didnt notice anything negative with sense of smell, taste etc. I say you will be GTG once all done without any major issues IMO... Good Luck
