Suboxone
ad
I'm 29, did heroin for 4 years and ecstasy for 2 years. Total abuse of the body, really no time in between. I recovered I in 2011, been sober ever since. They put me on 8mg/2mg suboxone sublingual tabs. I started with 3 of those a day in the beginning and now i take 1 evrry 12 days. The chronic abuse is done with. But getting off dope of course my T levels were shot and then taking the suboxone demoted them as well. Now a days, I'm still having T issues and I can't shake them. I talked with an endo, they said get off suboxone. Which I pretty much am these days, I feel my body has gotten slow.

Suboxone is not just a blocker. It's a combo, mostly an opiod (buprenorphine) with a blocker (naloxone). It can still have effects on T (mostly on SHBG which is most likely the cause in drop of T), although usually not as drastic as full out hardcore opiates.
Ah, good info thanks, like I said I've never really dealt with suboxone. For reasons I wont get into it wasnt for me. Methadone, as big of a crutch as it is saved me.
hey man, whatever works. The end result is all that matters. good shit.
They thought methadone wouldn't be good for me. But i dont hate on the people that use it post addiction, therapeutically. If it helps, it helps.
They thought it wouldn't be good for you? Sounds odd but who knows. Sure, methadone can be a crutch just like subs but I know many people myself included who have successfully used it to get off dope then properly taper off the methadone. If it is done properly it works well. Methadone also creates a routine. Everyday ger up, go to the clinic take your med. Go on with the day as opposed to going once a month or week whatever it is, getting a script and not being monitored until you go back. For a lot of us that used for a long time the routine was what was needed. We couldnt handle our prescription alone. That would just get abused. Dont mean to drone on I just think methadone gets a bad rap. Im very active in my area helping to drop the stigma attacged to methadone. Once I cleared the clinic I was asked to be on their advisory board and I regularly speak to clients. So I know and see the good it does. I would rather have 600 people on methadone and trying to do right than 600 still on dope, hustling, robbing tricking and not being productive memvers of society.
When I was doing dope, I abused methadone for for months. That's probably why they didn't put me on it.
Ah, sure. Makes sense. Well good luck man. I wish I could be of some help to your issue. Keep up the good work with staying clean and stay on suboxone as long as you need to. If you come ofd before you are ready thats a recipe for a relapse
Appreciate the support man
True
The lifestyle is good, food intake is good not show ready clean. I work 40+ hours a week and I'm doing much better these days.
There is a recovery group at eroids. You should go there you will get better responses for these types of questions.
The link between opioid use and low t levels I don't believe in.
I believe that your addiction could have been you self medicating to compensate for possibly low test or other hormone imbalances.
I was also an addict and use suboxone. If you can get off by all means do so then let your doctor decide about trt don't self medicate.
I can agree on both sides of the fence. Which came first, low T or addiction. Its one of those things where its a toss up.
