Nicotine Fixations
What's up ladies and gents, its story time! Yay! Well here is where I'm at.........
Once a long time ago (6 years), Winning was just a mere 25 year old pup, willing to wag his tail at anything with a pulse(not much has changed). Being fresh outta the military and on leave, it was time to party. So I decided to go to the club and after a night of drinking, I met a cigarette promoter! After signing a waver I was left with a free pack of smokes. Winning right? Not so much...I smoked half of that pack, that night. :/ Well eventually I finished the pack and decided to buy another pack. Hook line and sinker, I was addicted! SUCKA!! I started off with 4 cigs a day and moved to half a pack or more daily!
Fast forward to my child's birth. My wife has given me an ultimatum "either stop smoking or get an electronic cigarette. " She says "you will not be around the baby, smelling like smoke."
So I went to this nifty e - cig shop, they had big Pipes, small pipes and all types and flavors your heart can desire! I thought this will be my next fix, its healthier and blah blah.
Fast forward to today! I've been smoking e-cig for 1 year and 2 months! Great job Winning, we'll not really. The e - cig started messing with my throat and making it harder to breath. Face it I would smoke this thing non stop ALL DAY! Not being sure of the ingredients in this thing and the breathing problem, I've decided to quit, Cold turkey, my mind is made up! "Hey Winning , that was a run on sentence." You bet your ass it was, I didn't promise to be an English professor kids, listen up........."
It's been 1 day! Not long but, I'm on my way!
I no longer want a crutch, I'm better than this.
Has anyone quit smoking cold turkey?
Any advice? Anyone willing to ride the quit train with me? Chooo chooo

Good for you! This a full "man up" move and really the best way to do it. I never smoked, but I chewed when I was younger (thought it was better to not smell like smoke, was my reasoning). I was hooked for six years and tried unsuccessfully to quit several times. I finally manned up and just threw it out and said "no more". It was tough (physically) for the first week, but it got much easier after that. Mentally and habitually was much harder. When you're used to partaking after a meal or the like, it's hard to break that habit. Just give it time and try to replace the habitual moments with something else. You can do this and I wish you the very best of luck.
Thanks brother for you inspiring words, they motivate me.
I smoked from 15-19 years old and just quit straight cold turkey... Both my assistants here at work have smoked a while and I convinced BOTH of them to quit cold turkey as well and IT worked! It is rough but I feel it is the way to go when it comes to smoking..
We are all now smoke free but I enjoy the occasional smoke every once in a blue moon..
Cold turkey is the way to go. I didnt smoke for years and and have quit before, but when I party and drink, the addiction sets in. Maybe ill try not drinking, it always makes me want to smoke.
I did six years ago. Dr made me tell her a date that I would quit. So I did , I said the last day of the month. She said every day til then you tell yourself I'm quitting on day x. So I did just so I could tell her next time I saw her that I tried it and it didn't work. Only it did. Day x comes and BOOM I decide to throw the smokes away. Wife says that if I do that she will not buy me smokes anymore because I've tried this many times and wasted a lot of money throwing them away just to go back to the store the next day and buy more. Haven't had a smoke since.
Wow, that's amazing! I'm sure if I can get through 3 weeks, I will be fine. Pat yourself on your back brother.
Not sure if it was in my mind to prove my wife wrong that I could do it or if I really brainwashed myself. I had a dream like 6 months after I quit that I was smoking and I woke up and felt ashamed like I had done something wrong. If you can follow through with this it will help you gain weight even if you don't want to. I weighed 185 when I quit. I weigh 230 now. I was a sickly looking guy people see me now and they are like wow you got big.
It's all mental bro.. !!!! We should know this.. You can do it just everytime u get the urge go lift !!!
Thanks bro, I've been replacing the "hand to mouth thing" with eating alot more. Thanks for the motivation.
shoxingbiceps17Get some e juice with a higher VG content, that will reduce the "throat hit" you get.
I'm trying to give it up, in general. But, if I have a change of heart, I'll look it up.
shoxingbiceps17Ok roger that bro. GOOD LUCK! I've finally got down to 0% nicotine, but I cant seem to stop the habit of "smoking" something
I feel ya, its the second day and I have watery mouth syndrome. Haha . Thanks brother.
One thing I noticed with the e-cigs is that I don't get the crazy cravings. You know the ones.Your heart starts pounding and you're going to rip off the head of the next person that says "hello" to you.I have gone over 12 hours without the e-cig and been fine.I feel you will have an easier time quitting the e-cig than cigarettes.
Haha, i haven't had the severe cravings Yet, but I'm sure it will get there. I hope your conclusion is right though.
Let us know how it goes.I know a couple guys that just quit the ecig. One of them didn't intend to quit.I think he ran out of atomizers or something and that was it.
Good luck bro, never quit cold turkey, always with the patch or e cig and always end up back on them. I have chantix that i will be using in august when i finish this cycle. Really think this is gonna be the time i make it. Ive quit for like 3 months at a time but i never get off the patch so with the chantix i willl actually get the nicotine out of my system for once. Smoking contradicts everything i do with working out, eating heathly, not partying etc. And then i smoke these cancer sticks. So I have to quit I'm so sick of it.
You said a mouth full....It contradicts the life style of a bodybuilder!
waltrit gets easier the longer you stay with it
I find myself with extra time on my hands now, I might start drinking tea or something.
