Mono??
So, I got diagnosed with the flu and mono a week ago. It has been pretty sucky. I went back to the doctor Friday and my spleen and liver are pretty swollen. We did some blood work and I go back tomorrow for the results. I was told no contact sports and careful with physical activity for a while. All this seems pretty obvious. I went to my sons baseball game and got winded walking from the car to the field. I'm no where near ready to get back in the gym just yet. I realize my cardio is going to take a hit, but I'm curious about how cautious I should be with my weight training. I can't get a good answer from my doctor, because they don't know much about actual training. Anyone here every get mono before? I've heard of people having it for months. I'm not going to use this as an excuse to throw away my hard work, but I also don't want to rupture my spleen or liver because I was too eager. Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks!
Update: I went back to the doctor this morning. Labs didnt come back too great. My liver and kidneys aren't in great shape, but that was expected. It's not too serious though. Everything is just going to take time. So, she informed me I was not to train at all for 6 weeks. She specifically said no weights, and no running. I can only walk. It's pretty discouraging after just getting off cycle and having some major gains. I'm going to stay optimistic though. My health is most important. I just have to take everything one day at a time. I just hope I don't turn into my avatar all anorexic looking. Nevermind, my boobs aren't that big I could never look like that. Oh, and I'm not 90. I think I'll be ok. ; )

So, I went to the doctor today and I'm officially back down to my pre-cycle weight. I'm losing all my gains! Someone lay hands on me and free me of this illness! In Jesus name amen....... Or however that goes. I don't really know.
AnonWell if you want that to work, first thing you need to do is acknowledge that you are a terrible person and there's nothing you could ever do to change that. Next step would be to donate your child's college fund directly to the church, there just isn't any other way. Don't worry about it - the big man will sort that out down the road for them it's not your responsibility anymore!
You think Jesus works for free???
PAY UP
Damn it! Are you telling me not only am I sick I can't get better because I'm broke? You are supposed to be the expert on this Jesus stuff. I thought you of all people could help me. I'm pretty sure if we get all the eroids members to pray it will work! Lol
I had mono once and it was about 2 weeks of really bad cold/flu then another 2 weeks of being sick. I went from 180lb to 155. It was pretty sad but after a month I got right back to 175. (this was when I was skinny and in high school.) my spleen also got enlarged and I had stomach pains from it but it went back to normal after.
I might add I also had strep throat and an infection all at the same time so I didnt really eat for 2 whole weeks because it hurt to eat or drink water. (applesauce and pudding only!)
If you only have mono you will be okay just try to eat what you can and stay out of gym for a couple weeks. Just rest up and let it pass and when you are 100% you can start doing cardio again once your all healthy.
Good luck and don't worry you will be fine
AnonLMAO I thought that avi was actually you, I wanted to say something so bad about someone who's anorexic running gear. I feel better now!
GL on the recovery, our health definitely has to come first
That is so funny to me! I had a guy pm me once trying to hit on me because of my avatar. I laughed so hard! It's supposed to be a joke. Lol... I'm not 90 years old, my boobs aren't fake and creepy looking, and I'm nowhere near that skinny nor do I want to be. I am a small person, but not like that. I looked nothing like her before I ever used AAS. As great as muscle is, there is nothing wrong with women having a little fat in certain places.
AnonExactly on point with what I'm attracted to.... You know what's up ;)
Actually your age/height/weight/BF matches up perfectly with my ex.... and I prob live in the same state as you given your handle.... Damn why didn't you tell me you ran gear when we dated??? We'd still be together if I knew I would have put up with the crazy!
You could be pinning me right now </3
TxBigBoyLmao! Same here bro, I'm so into chicks with her stats. Man I bet she's hot bro, if you get them digits hook me up brotha!

AnonMakes me wonder if you realized my post was a joke o.0
Besides the first line of course.
TxBigBoyOh yea bro it's all good, I figured you were joking that's why I was playing around. It's the internet, I never take anything people say on here to heart. Well except that on time Tread told me I was the only guy for him and come to find out pope was at his house the day before, but thats a whole different story, no homo
Anon6'5? Fuck that bro she's all yours!
Hey man it's only gay if you like it......
TxBigBoyLmao! Your cool in my book bro
TxBigBoyAmen to that, love me a ghetto booty!
Good thing I got one! ; ) and them big ol' legs! Baby got back!
Yea I had it a couple of years ago. I was almost done with a cycle when I got diagnosed. It took the piss out of me. Had to take time off work and it took about a full 18review months befor I got most my enery back. Is kind of dragin though. I think mono cause me to have some anemia. Getting some b12 injections to combat.
Myobolix-PharmaI just got diagnosed with mono 2 days ago!!!!
I pretty much went into the doctors and told him why I believed it was mono, and not other things.. Im on several meds at the moment, and doing things on my end such as b12 injections, (x) amount of vitamin C every few hours.. along with all my other supplements.. I was told to stay away from red meat and greasy food...not sure what correlation this has with the sickness itself.
He also told me no drinking (no big deal) and I need to take it easy with the training.. His guess was my mono came from a debilitating crash after I ran my body into the ground.. mono can sometimes linger in your body, and when you stop taking all your health supplements and so forth-it overthrows you and surfaces.. Ive found myself sleeping nonstop.. and just being lazy.. I would focus on a strict diet, proper supplementation and see if you can get a doctor that can prescribe you something for it!!!
depending how bad/severe your case is..the doctor might give you a prescription steroid to take care of the swelling of the spleen/throat.. because a lot of time, people get strep throat WHILE they have mono.. the reason I was able to distinguish was-ive had strep so many times, and as I've aged its never knocked me out this bad.. which made me realize something else was going on in my body.. I believe the meds are called corticosteroids if memory serves..
the best thing you can do is take at least a week off..this won't hurt your training at all.. but if you push yourself until you crash, you'll suffer even more!! focus on foods with high zinc content.. lots of greens, yogurt, sweet potatoes, etc..
hope all this rambling helps some what... if anything I can say-- I feel your pain
Yeah, first thing got a steroid shot. I'm now taking an antibiotic to help with a possible sinus infection and the possibility of strep. I do B12 shots twice a week. I am planning to take at least another week off from the gym. I haven't been able to eat at all until yesterday. I got back on my usual diet. I keep craving sherbet for some reason. I got some that's claims it's high in vitamin c. It can't hurt.... Lol. Just happy to be able to eat again. I just had sweet potatoes with dinner. : ) I never eat red meat or fried food anyways. Yeah, I knew something more than strep was going on too. I've had meningitis and mentally that's how I was feeling. I knew something wasn't right. I'm just going to take things slow and listen to my body.
Anonyou do realize that antibiotics to take care of a sinus infection is like an oxymoron...99.9% of sinus infections are viral.. It is a really good idea to just take it easy and go slow. being sick like this isn't something to play around with, you can always get your gains back. muscles have great memories ;-)
Since I've had several viral infections at once: mono, the flu, and possible sius infection they prescribed me antibiotics to help prevent against Strep since your chances of getting a bacterial infection increases with mono. They didn't put me in the antibiotics until they suspected a sinus infection since they will not treat anything viral. It was done preventively.
Myobolix-Pharmahehehehe laughs ....MUSCLE MEMORY.... get it>?
Anonfunny guy !!
Myobolix-Pharmasounds like you're right on point.. try to take a few hundred mg of Vitamin C every few hours.. take a cranberry extract to help your urinary tract if you're going to do this as well.. good call on the b12, I'm a firm believer in it.. I'm trying to stick to all the health crazy "shakes" with the spinach, fruits and veggies.. I thought it was ironic to see this, especially after mono hitting home just a few days ago.. I'm on day 3 of recovery and have a tad more energy today.. but if I over exert (even sex) it knocks me out for the count.. gonna take is as easy as I can whilst the recovery occurs =) hope you get better soon!
AnonIt's probably methylprednisolone MB..... pretty cheap med and it's highly effective. Usually will come in a pack of 21. Sounds like it's taking a toll on you, maybe you should ask your doc about the med grrrl
Myobolix-Pharmaits rough brother; unfortunately there really is no medicine to treat mono.. you just need to take it easy and "help yourself." only real meds are for organ swelling, or strep induced by the mono (which is something I had). Hoping to bounce back fast because I don't have the luxury of being lazy lol.
AnonStrep induced by mono... that just sounds like a god awful combo
GL with the recover MB and grrl
Don't rupture your damn spleen lifting weights! Turns out we actually need that thing. Take it easy
