So I just rewatched the movie Limitless and it got me to thinking. I went to my trusted friend Google and did a few searches. Turns out a lot of people feel like Provigil (moodafil) is that pill. Many of high government officials and CEO's take the medicine normally given to people suffering from narcolepsy. From what I've read its a stimulant that doesn't make you jittery, just makes you really focused and alert.
Anyone here taking it or have any experience with it? Id love to hear some input.

I use it quite regurlarly (took some last night).
I own/run a company so when we are under the pump I sometimes need to work day shifts and night shifts and this pill allows me to do that for three days straight before I crash.
72 hrs then I need to go down for 12 hrs of sleep and I wake up fine!
I will say after about 48 hrs you feel a bit zombie like and you would probably struggle to do complex problem solving but simple tasks are fine.
I once tried it for an extra day ( upped the dosage considerably) and I had hallucinations and extreme shortness of breath so that's the limit for me.
It doesn't perk me up like caffeine or any other stimulants, it just makes me not feel tired. I love the stuff.
Apparently it is used by long range bomber pilots who need to stay alert for long periods of time.
Also given to first responders such as police and ambo's in case of natural emergencies.
Some very interesting studies about it online.
ray3801Thanks for the reply. This is just the kind of info I was looking for. What about your sex life, if you don't mind me asking. Ive taking stimulants in the past that have just killed the urge to have sex for me. Curious what your experiences are?
Got to be honest mate, when you are working for 72 hrs straight sex is the last thing on your mind!
I don't think there would be any problem in that department though. I dont think it would have a positive or negative effect on libido or performance. It is not really a stimulant though.
From what I understand in total laymens terms; when you are awake your brain is constantly producing some substance/chemical that will make you feel sleepy. Once you reach a certain level of that substance ( like at night time after being awake a full day) you need to sleep to reset this buildup. What provigil does(called modafinil where I'm from) is block the brains receptor of this substance. That means you feel no urge to sleep at all. A good part of that is that if you do want to sleep you can, even if you have just taken a dose because that substance is still there just masked/blocked from the receptors.
It can make you very focused on a task, sometimes even to an OCD level! Good for concentration too. It would be handy for Uni kids I reckon.
I don't take it too often because I find I build up a resistance to it and it moderates it's affect.

vivance and adderall is where its at. ive used vivance for a month and i swear it not only increases concentration, but it enhances my mood too. i just feel good by using it. it does however increase my heart rate and lowers my appetite some. i haven't learned anything about provigil in my classes yet, but it appears to work the same way other amphetamine-like substances do judging by the structure. (increasing dopamine, serotonin, and nor-epinephrine)...

GearofWarNo experience with it, but I'm a crazy ass that's willing to dump any poison into his body at least once or so if there's any reward to risk ratio. Sometimes I even find undiagnosed problems with this theory. For instance, someone I know once gave me a bunch of Adderall to try. After using it, I was like, Really? thats it? Whats the big deal about this shit? It didn't skee me up at all. If anything it mellowed me. So I go to the doc and get tested for adult ADD-Bingo, spot on. You've got adult ADD, sir. The Adderall did nothing to zoom because it had a therapeutic use for me. But this off label use of narcolepsy meds is Interesting, very interesting indeed.
Ain't no pill on earth even comparable to NZT. Dude, it lets you access 100% of your brains capacity!
ray3801Oh I realize that, just thought it was interesting that many "high power" people take and attribute their success in part to the drug provigil. I wish there really were such a thing as NZT.....that is the version he remade near the end of the movie...lol
You know when the stakes/rewards are high enough people will do anything for an advantage, I bet these "high power" people take a lot more than some publicly known drug you or I could buy with nothing but a prescription!
