I hate my freaking job!!
ad
Alright I just need to air out and dont mean to sound like a little bitch. First off I'm happy I have job in today's economy but I can't take this shit any more. I am on call literally 24/7! I can get called whenever. Once I get called I travel and they stick us in nasty ass hotels for 10-24 hours then send us back home. It's truly a hard life to live having kids and a wife. It's just hard to leave them every other day. That said I did make over 60k last year and clearly that's not a ton of money but its better than flipping burgers!! I'm at the point where I'm ready to quit and find something else but it's just hard to give up such a good job. What would you do in my situation?

F1-WilliamsChange the job !
sounds like your a security job.
at least you have a job.
Thanks for all the encouragement and advice. I know things could be way worse and I'm looking for another job. There is no way for me to not be on call or traveling in my current job. It sucks hopefully I can find something else.
GearofWarLike PEZ says, "It's a whole lot easier finding a job when you've already got one". It gives you confidence that if negotiations don't pan out you always have the old fall back, so you may be better mentally prepared to interview. Btw, I hate my job too. Because things are slow I now do two jobs, and made $11,000 less this year. I've got a wife, 2 kids and a single income of $41,000 per year. Shit sucks, so you can at least be a little happy that you make way more money than this poor sap. Things can always be worse, keep your head up.
AnonDude i understand you. I am in a job that pays dam good about 70k a year. But i am away from the house for 14 days straight. Then off for 14 days but 2 of those days is travel. Right now its a 9 to 10 hour drive and they dont pay for travel expense.
I have a wife and son. Also me and the wife are trying but work schedule is messing us up right now. It seems like I miss so much of my son growing up.
Next bad thing is there is no good paying jobs where i live unless its what i do now. So its look for a better job and secure it before I quite this one. So that's what I suggest to you is find a new before you quite.
Oh and I do believe that nearly every job has its own bullshit to deal with. Some people deal with different types of bullshit better than others. So maybe the question should be, " What kind of bullshit can you deal with?"
Never quit a job without getting another job. It is the worst feeling in the world to go to a job you hate. But keep in mind your next job could turn out to be more stressfull that your current one. 60 k a year and they pay for your travel expenses?
It must be a tough thing to miss out on your children growing up. Id consider it quite normal for at least one parent to be absent 5 days out of the week. Is there a way you can not be "on call" maybe for two days a week?
Anoni feel you brother. i have a 50k job bouncing between a desk and the jobsite. but the circumstances that i work under are fkd to the max. i almost quit the other day for real.. packed all my shit and brought it home. i'm now looking to either find another job or open my own company. fk the bullshit.
Apply for jobs and interview. The negotiations for salary go so well when you already have a job. If you don't leave your current position, the interviews will add self value.
