HEARTBURN!!

ad

I don't know exactly what's causing it. I mean obviously I've had heartburn before but now it's every day. I'm taking proviron, aromasin along side all my Supps/vitamins etc. I already tried Zantac and I eat tums like candy. This isn't your run of the mill heart burn. This is stop me in my tracks, down to one knee holding my chest heartburn. Which OTC drug do you all use. Since they're fuckn $30 a box I'm taking a poll instead of rolling the dice again since Zantac doesn't do shit.

Prilosect or if you have a cool dr have him/her give you prescription strength prilosect. Also I take a spoon full of Apple cider vinegar every morning. I used to have bad acid reflux and this helped tremendously. I like the prescription prilosect because if you have ins it's cheaper. It's worth a shot

Wow I just experience this and I was taking aro and provi. It got where it effected my day to day life. Wonder if there any correlation to using provi and aro that might cause heartburn

Hey... try being a little more relaxed.. I mean you always seem soo up tight to me.. or maybe it's just to me? ummm

Nitti's picture

I'm a little uptight I have to admit. And a little more stress than usual outside of eroids. So maybe an ulcer? I don't know. You used to give me heartburn! You've been good lately. What gives?

stl's picture

I have had a stomach ulcer when I used to drink a shit load of coke. It hurts you will know certin things seamed to set it off like caffine

Describe your symptoms to your doc and ask for a prescription of OMEPRAZOLE (generic Prilosec) ask for 20mg caps (a low effective dose) but let him/her know that you intend to up it to 40mg if the dose is too low. That way the doc will be prepared when the refill request comes in.

This is a common maintenance drug that can be very pricey OTC, (not to mention having to deal with those blister packs).

Persistent reflux is a cancer risk. I had an upper GI recently and he showed me pictures where the cells in the lower part of my esophagus had changed to the same type of cells that line my stomach. This type of "mutation" is good as it protects my esophagus from getting ulcers as a result of the acid reflux.
It could also be bad if that mutation became cancerous. Hence the need for occasional GI.

I use nexium or prilosec. Works great for me definitely worth the 30$ for the 28 days. They also work for 24hr. I take it in the morning all day relief.

I get heartburn so bad it make me cough so hard I puke. These two meds help me a lot.

Nitti's picture

Nope, still get it like clock work. It went away a few days but comes right back

Nitti's picture

Supps I'm only taking vitamins and protein bro. I use wheybolic-60 right now. And megamen. I am using caber and aromasin. I was popping a Cialis every now and then but it's been over a month for that now. I'm stressed the fuck out I'll tell u that. Maybe I have an ulcer?

Nitti's picture

Sounds good. I'll give it a shot. The aromasin I just increased too. Dried me right out. Maybe you're right. Thanks Badger.

I have suffered with GERD all my life. There are 2 classes of drugs. Only Lansoprazole works for me. It works most often but I still need to not over eat or drink, Several small meals to keep something in my stomach and minimize the amount of dairy and spicy foods -particularly at the end of the day before lying down at night.

ranitidine (Zantac) belongs to a group of drugs called histamine-2 blockers. Zantac works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces.

Lansoprazole (prevacid) belongs to a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors. Lansoprazole decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

BlackDoug's picture

Look for the active ingredient ranitidine and give it a shot! I don't know the name brand.

Nitti's picture

That's Zantac! It works sometimes. But I have this shit every day all day. Goes away a few days and comes back hard.

BlackDoug's picture

Go see the Dr then and ask for the little purple pill (Nexium) hands down best thing out there but by script only!

Nitti's picture

Thanks for all the replies. So far i'm actually doing better just by continuing the zantac without popping tums every 5 mins. I didn't know they take away from it's effectiveness

EmeraldLaoch's picture

eh not sure the tums are a great idea. My buddies dad had heartburn from alcohol consumption and poor diet, used to pop'em like candy. In the end the doc said it was the tums that killed him. I wish i could remember why but I remember when it happened and that is was the excessive tums.

I dont have heartburn.. but i do get gas.. and it sucks. What's been helping me
out is protein shakes at night.. coats the stomach and I dont feel like a ballon
in the morning.I try not to use meds to solve something that I "think" can
be handled with food or something organic.

Ever try a probiotic ?.. there are a bunch of them out there.

Bro I'm in the same boat your are. Unfortunately if the OTC stuff isn't working anymore then you may have to go to the doc. The best stuff I've ever used was nexium but my insurance stopped covering it. Fucking bastards!!!! Also dexilant is good too. The upside to all this is once you get on a prescription it should get you back to where you can take OTC again eventually. I used to take nexium twice a day and over time i got to where I could take one a day. The insurance effed me and i switched to aciphex which sucked ass and then to dexilant. Then i switched jobs and now I don't have insurance anymore but im where I can take generic zantac. I honestly believe I have a hiatal hernia. I've had my gall bladder checked it's all good. Good luck bro I know how bad it sucks when you can't eat as much as you need to because of a body malfunction.

Maybe go see a Dr. if it is that bad, it could be acid reflux and that could screw you up if not in check, it could even cause ulcers, which are no fun. I know stress doesn't help it either.

EmeraldLaoch's picture

Dont know the trade name but Famotedine. I get stress related heartburn on a regular basis and ive taken famotedine for weeks at a time which causes immediate relief, then after weeks of taking it the heartburn subsides entirely for a time. I take Triphala ayervedic internal cleanser once day and calcium supplement on top of my daily lqd multi. Works for me.

NoPain's picture

I had something similar. Doc called it gastritis. f'ing sucked. So painful. Prilosec eventually calmed it down!

cmo25cent's picture

Gastritis is on the left side of the torso where your stomach is.

Nitti, I have had heartburn for years and I use 300mgs of Zantac a day. Mine was so bad it would burn my esophagus. I don't know if you know this or not but tums neutralize the potency of zantac and they are not supposed to be used together. Maybe you didn't take them at the same time but I figured I would let you know

Nitti's picture

Did not know that. Maybe that's why the Zantac doesn't work. Lol. I take 150mg btw. Maybe I should leave the Tums alone. They help instantly for that "stop you dead in your tracks" heartburn pain.

Darktide's picture

I know, I did them both together for that very reason, and I told my wife that zantac doesn't do shit. I was away from home so she didn't know that I was eating tums to like skittles. She is in the medical field, so when I got home she saw me mixing them and said "that is why the zantac doesn't work". And explained why. Ever since I stopped with tums and doing 150mgs at morning and night it has been fine.

j223's picture

Yo nitti are you on any orals?

I noticed you said proviron. I'm also taking proviron. I do get heartburn occasionally. For some people taking on a full stomach helps. Maybe try taking your aromasin on a full stomach?

I made a similar post not too long ago about heartburn from orals, viking gave some good advice
http://www.eroids.com/forum/steroids-qa/anabolic-steroids/oral-steroids-...

but some of the things viking said was to try taking orals or pills with peanut butter. He said get a small amount of peanut butter and put the cap/tab inside it. This will cover the pill reducing the immediate acid breakdown in your stomach acid. I guess its supposed to help with heartburn.

Anyways I'm just quoting viking.

But zantac SHOULD work if you have acid reflux as zantac reduces the amount of acid in your stomach. All tums does is neutralize, it doesn't reduce acid.

Nitti's picture

Yes proviron and aromasin. I take them both on an empty stomach. Zantac hasn't helped me much. It definitely reduces it but doesn't get rid of it. I have taken both with food before. I still seem to have heartburn every day. It's not really immediately following the ingestion of the tabs. It's kinda all day and night. Some times are worse than others. I absolutely have to try the Prevacid but I'll check out the links you posted. Thanks bro
