Biceps distal tendon rupture

ad

I ture my tendon in my left biceps.
Distal tendon the one that charge on the supination.
Im a month and a half post surgery and looking for tips from users who got injured the same or somthing similar for fast recovery/rehabilitation.
This is my first real injury that require me to leave the gym for months as doctor advise.
Thank you.

I did the same thing. It happened when I came off of gear. It was because the tendons were weaker off gear. I still can’t lift heavy like I used to and it’s been a year later but every bodies case is different. I still have a anchor in the tendon to the bone so when I life heavier sometimes it still hurts in there. Just take it slow and don’t rush into lifting to much.

Thank you for your tips.
I think my rehab will take more then 6 months unlike the protocol that i got from hospital say.
It funny that in the hospital protocol they say that after 6 months you can make a full recovery and come back to heavy lifting but in the the real life nobody that i spoke with still dosnt back to full recovery even after 1 year.

Hi Idan, I completely tore my right distal bicep tendon 3 years ago and it’s still been a Mind F for me to go back to training like I used to pre injury. I tore mine in the middle of a bowling tournament and not being able to turn my hand for a couple of days after the injury was damn scary. I had to use my left hand to turn over my right hand just to wash it. Learned to wipe my ass opposite hand real quick though.

I was lucky enough to have a great Doctor that performed surgery for several professional athletes but advised me to wait a full 6 months post surgery before starting to lift anything comparable to a gallon of water. We did discuss using HGH but my doctor advised me that while growth may help speed up the healing process with the incision and tissue surrounding the surgical area, it wouldn’t help with speeding up the healing process of the actual repair of the tendon and starting to train earlier than his recommendation may cause it to partially tear or put extra stress on the actual bicep itself and cause trauma to it and the other remaining tendons and tissues.

Good Luck to you Brother and I Wish You a Full and Speedy Recovery!

Thank you for your honest opinion.
I cant be optimistic after i hear from another people they as the same injury still dosnt full recover after years but i have to deal with that and learn how to train under this situation.
I'm curious to know do you have that Popeye biceps at the beginning due the tendon repture?
Did the surgery fix it?
And what about the fact that your arm size get really smaller that your other arm did it came back to pre injury State?

You can be optimistic brother, I just don’t push myself anymore like prior to the injury but according to the Doc could be as strong as before. I’m a little older, so I have decided to turn it down a notch and usually superset for reps with little to no rest in between sets.

My bicep did roll up ever so slightly and I would say the surgery fixed it about 90%. I can tell that it’s a little different than before, maybe a 1/2 inch shorter looking but nothing that anyone has commented on. My biceps and triceps have always been one of my stronger body parts and yes they’re pretty much back to pre injury state. I don’t have heavy days anymore but again I’m a little older and mentally I have decided not to push it like before. I do have some gear coming and yes I will push myself more than normal but it won’t be anything like before. Getting old is a B****!

Trust your body brother, you know your body better than anyone. Let it heal and once you decide to start again listen to it and the feedback that you get from it. If something starts to feel off, stop. There’s no rush, like riding a bike and of course your diet will be beneficial in your recovery and making gains. Best of Luck Brother!

It didn't happen at the gym.
Its happen at my work while i picked up water cabinet.
The funny thing its not that heavy but shit happens. Most likely i picked that cabinet at the wrong angle with my hand and put a lot pressure on the tendon
