Another year older, another year wiser, so they say!
Today is my 42nd birthday and I am in a somewhat reflective mood. This time last year, I had everything I ever wanted and needed; a loving husband, three beautiful children and a gorgeous granddaughter. I still have my beautiful children and granddaughter, but my world came crashing down last year when I discovered my husband was having an affair! I lost the love of my life after 23 years together. This past year has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but with the love and support of my friends and family, I have grown stronger and stronger every day. I never in my wildest dreams imagined being in this position at 42 years of age, where I would have to join the dating scene again, but today I will make it my life’s challenge to start looking through the windshield and not the rear view mirror!
My quote for today: Whoever looks for greener grass on the other side will never be able to appreciate the green grass that was right under their feet the entire time!

Simply being a Brit would be more than enough to attract me to you. Had I not met Grrl, I was seriously considering going to England to hang out for a summer and seeing how long it took me to get arrested for being a wierdo......love girls from the UK. Of course on the other hand, don't settle for a loser like me. Never settle for less when it comes to a mate----life's too short (and too long) to be with someone who doesn't make you happy.

As we all know life will hand us some really dark times, but in the quite when we sit there alone and looking for some kind of hope, a light, or even a smallest noise. Something to let us know we are still living, breathing, we do something very amazing..... We adjust.. we adjust our eyes to see a little better, we learn to breath with the smallest amount of air. Finally we decide that we will fight to the very end to live. You my friend are learning to see in the darkness, breath with little effort and you are continuing to live. I know you are a strong woman and you will get through this and when the light finally shines on your face once again you will glow! No one will be able to contain your happiness... My fiancé left me 2 days before Xmas bc she ultimately couldn't accept my life with my 2 kids from a previous marriage. Life is a crazy ride and I'm not really religious or anything but it truly seems that things happen for a reason both for our own growth and development and to meet others. Have a great Bday and don't take a single day for granted...laugh, love and live everyday and pump a lil iron too;)!!!!

I was married for 22yrs when I discovered exactly the same thing as you (through emails hitting my inbox) it blew my mind and I seriously thought life had ended right that moment, I dragged my ass around for ages and even hit the drink for a while which turned me into a total asshole... I hated everyone and hated myself even more.. I could not see a light at the end of the tunnel,it was like grieving in a strange way.. then one morning I woke up and kicked my own ass so hard to get the show back on the road so I went to this fancy hotel gym and fitness complex to see if I could still make the chicks go Oooo shit! when I got the pump on lol..lol.. anyways I walked past this room were a spin class was taking place and I saw this ass in a pair of lycra hotpants gripping the saddle for all its worth.... I swear that ass spoke to me lol.... as I walked closer the women turned around and looked at me with the biggest smile flashing the whitest teeth I had ever seen and big blue eyes (strange for a brunette) I thought OMFG my heart dropped out my ass she was gorgeous.... to cut a long story short guess who that was???...... yep you got it!..... suzy B ...that was when I was 46... the rest is history and shes been abusing and beating the crap outa me since that fkn day lmaooooooooooooooooooo

I just turn 42 a couple of weeks ago and will be married for 23 years this August. Very similar to you. I cant imagine waking up and not seeing her next to me. True another year older and another year wiser in most aspects. I believe love is blinding and we seem to turn off our hightened senses because of how blissful being with someone we care about tends to make us. You are one of the people here that always has something good to say. You're always complimentary to the people on the boards and most of us appreciate your presence here.
