+ 1 New Routine Suggestions

ad

Hi ladies

I usually train a minimum of 5 days per week, but am currently taking 8 weeks off training.

While I'm on a break I thought I would design a new training regime for myself for when I return to the gym, as I have been sticking to the same one for quite a while now and have reached a plateau.

I would like to get some ideas from you girls as to what your favourite exercise is and whether you have achieved good gains from it, so I can add something different to my normal routine.

I am not using AAS and my main aim is to gain muscle definition and tone.

Thank you ;)

I am a Personal Trainer & Pilates Instructor in Beverly Hills, may I suggest drop sets for your upper body exercises, they make all the difference for me and give me immediate results. I divide my upper body into chest/back one day and then biceps/tri's/shoulders the next. I choose one exercise for each muscle group and do drop sets which means lifting heavy and dropping the weight until you are literally curling 5lbs. So for example I'll do 15lb bicep curl with 10reps, drop to 10lbs and strive for another 10reps, drop to 8lbs and try to do another 10lb.Doing this has made my arms very lean and tones.

For legs make sure you are wearing ankle weights during all those side kicks, and when working your glutes, I always strive for 30reps on all my leg exercises and I suggest holding 2 10-15lb dumbbells.

Thanks for taking your time to post this. I will definitely try this out for a while ;)

I use a push pull routine, push one day pull the next.. I actually wrote most of it out in the cycle logs.. although I didn't fill in all the exercises, I did put in the push and the pull ;-) muscle definition will come mostly from diet. Training some light days and some heavy days will assist with growth, working for a pump is the goal, not always how much weight or how quickly. This game is about listening to your body and adjusting accordingly.

Thanks Grrrl. Is the push and pull still in the cycle logs as I'd be interested to have a look? I did scan down it, but couldn't see it to hand. I definitely need to sort out my diet as I have a very small appetite and if I take a protein shake, I find I cannot eat a proper meal for hours after :S

yes, look for GRRRls cycle .. should be near the top.. your stomach will stretch in time and just start slowly.. maybe you need to start with half a shake ... I know sometimes by the end of the day for me all that food is one small accident waiting to come back up .. ;s

I will look that up tomorrow as it's gone midnight here and I need to get up for work in a few hours lol. I will try starting with half a shake and yes, I know that "accident waiting to come back up" feeling very well ;) Thanks for all your help, it's much appreciated Biggrin
