well boys i did it, dropped my weight from 230 overweight as fuck, to a somewhat lean 200lb even at 14%, all in preparation for my first ‘cycle’ which will just be test, sust 350 to be exact because it was given to me, anyways i train 7 days a week and my diet is on point 2500-2750 cal a day, and no less than 225 protein, ideally i consume closer to 250… anyways i do my first pin tomorrow, since it’s sust with all the diff esters i’ll be pinning every 3rd day .75ml which comes out to about 525mg every 6 days

male/30
6’1
200.4lbs
16.5in arms
34 inch waist
benching 270 for 3 reps

any input is welcome! you guys have been the biggest help to me there is such a plethora of knowledge on this site and i’m thankful to have found this forum!

edit: i guess since i’ve posted now i’ll update my profile here this evening

Bud training 7 times a week is just too much - 5 days a week is plenty. You need at least 2 full rest days in there to allow your body to grow properly and the muscle to have a break otherwise sooner or later you will get an injury and pal - You do NOT want an injury. Muscles become sore over time because of micro tears that get larger and larger when they don't have adequate rest. Then ping you have an injury that you have to allow to recover which can take months and months to repair depending on the severity.

Absolute truth, am headed into a three day weekend tonight and I pushed back to back 4-day routines so that I could take two days in a row off (I do the 4-on/1-off) plus 30-minutes on the treadmill every night and I hurt all over... more, I am just 'flat' no drive, no pumps even, just going through motions. I have progressed a bit, but not like wanting to. Add 500 calorie deficit daily before cardio and I am knackered! A body needs a rest, and mine is telling me that if I don't give it, then it will make me!

I find myself doing the same thing. Always pulling workouts to the left, even when I haven’t been sleeping well and working a lot. Thinking, “well if I do it now, I won’t have to do it later”. This is especially problematic as we age, not getting sufficient recovery. After a while I end up straining a tendon or some other joint discomfort that sucks to try to work through. Better to skip the occasional workout than to add in extra.

I'm chllin' with a cuppa' coffee, wife nearby and already played with the rabbits. Will have two sessions on the tanning bed, hot bath and catching up on letters not written, and this is just the first of two days planned. R&R. I've been at it hard since March and while progress is very good, there is a toll. The rest is earned and honestly, this entire thread is helping me to not only feel good about it, but it is giving me an understanding too, that it is part of the program and needed.

sounds peaceful

so to be more specific 2 of those days i guess you could call ‘off’ or ‘rest’ days i take it easy i do a little bit of the seated bicycle and core and then 1 day for just shoulders traps and forearms

chest/tri day one
bi/back day 2
‘rest day’ with 5-6miles seated bike and core day 3
then legs day 4
shoulders/traps/forearms day 5

At the end of the day bud you know how your body responds to training, but a rest day is supposed to be a day of rest. Restoring energy in muscles, letting your CNS recover, letting tendons try to catch up at the rate of new muscle growth. Doing 6 miles on a stationary bike is not rest - its still expending valuable calories needed to assist protein synthesis and its taxing your cardio vascular system which still gets worked during training. I speak from experience here as I once decided on my rest days I would do 45 minutes of brisk walking and all that happened was the next day when I was supposed to feel fresh and alert I still felt tired and nowhere near fully rested to attack the weights at 100% again. I know how eager and excited you become on your first cycle but I cannot get across just how important proper resting is too.

LuckierSquare's picture

after reading through you guys talking about it and it all making perfect sense i will be taking everyone’s advice, maybe a 3 on 1 off and if i feel i need to up the ante i will try 4 on 1 off but thanks for sharing

press1's picture

I train EOD, meaning a rest day in between each session. It can be hard to get use to at first but I've found it best to be able to attack the weight at absolute maximum force in the next session. On those days in between you are allowing yourself to fully replenish with food and hydration and with all your supps. 2 on and 1 off is still good but on the second session sometimes they can be hit and miss in terms of progression as you can't apply all the force you are fully capable of due to being fatigued. What then always happens to me is I need the following 2 days of rest to feel bang on form again. This is after years of training though, if you are still in the first three years hitting 2 on 1 off is still able to produce good gains.

I guarantee after starting to incorporate 2 rest days a week you will be back here in no time at all telling of how you have started to see PR's again from proper recovery! Just remember that 3 on and 1 off is still NOT doing 2 rest days a week as its giving you an 8 day training week.

Learning how to properly rest and take breaks is just as important as learning as how to lift properly. People think working out is how you build muscle with the mindset of the more you work the more you build. Working out is just the stimulus for building it. The actual tissue building comes during rest. Break it down during training and repair/build it during rest. Which means complete rest.

i appreciate all y’all sharing now that i put some thought into it i couldn’t agree more and i’ll be adjusting accordingly thanks man you’ve been very helpful in the short amount of time since i first posted

LuckierSquare's picture

i like this a lot, especially the idea of switching up with the shoulders which makes sense since your front felt is used in benching etc i’ll definitely be trying this man thanks

wanted's picture

Let us know how the pip is for you

LuckierSquare's picture

haha, so i’ve heard it can be quite painful… i’ll be drawing up with a 25 and then subq injecting into my stomach or thigh with a 29 i’ll just have to play with it and figure out what and where works

Halsey's picture

Sooner or later the sub q will bite you!

LuckierSquare's picture

could you be a little more specific?

Halsey's picture

Skin infection! Sub dermal! I have no fat on my thighs either.

Too much oil for sub q, from my research. Lots of guys get away with small daily pins of trt, but not bigger pins.

LuckierSquare's picture

ok, noted… i’ll give im a try, i’ll never know until i do so i’ll play around with it and come to a conclusion where i think is best but yeah that makes sense about the oil and the subq i’ll forsure be taking that into consideration i never thought about that thanks man

Halsey's picture

Everything is truly trial and error for sure. Everybody is different. IM is not really that bad

LuckierSquare's picture

so i pinned in my glute last night, and while it isn’t painful, there’s definitely swelling with a lump i can feel, especially when driving as the seat hits it… i cannot find any material on how to lessen the swelling other than warming the area, and injecting at night time before bed so it can settle overnight, while completely relaxed

Makwa's picture

Pin IM or SubQ?

LuckierSquare's picture

im

LuckierSquare's picture

just bought a heating pad today!

Halsey's picture

I pin first thing in the morning, read up on pip issues. Virgin muscles, oil type, strength of aas, solvents. There are many reasons, trial and error with a bit of research. I occasionally hit a nerve, that's sucks!

LuckierSquare's picture

yeah i been doing a bit of reading on the grape seed cottonseed oil etc being possible issues, i also think it would be in my best interest to split the injection into 2 shots .35 and then .4 ml so as to reduce the swelling

Makwa's picture

If you are still pinning 350mg/ml sust that it the issue. That high dosed gear will always produce pip even moreso with virgin muscle. Some normal dosed test e 250mg/ml would be much better. That higher dosed gear is meant to be blended with other oils and not pinned straight.

wanted's picture

I disagree. I like to pin pre workout. Moves it around and in my opinion i get euphoria lol

LuckierSquare's picture

so i guess you feel like working out afterwards agitates it into the muscle and bloodstream quicker? and you don’t experienced issues with pip doing this

wanted's picture

I experience less pip this way the next day especially the sust

LuckierSquare's picture

alright cool i’ll try it next time, eventually i’ll try everything and SOMETHING will work so i’m open to whatever

Makwa's picture

Steroids are meant to be injected IM.

LuckierSquare's picture

so ideally if i was buying it i would’ve went with cypionate but i was gifted a couple vials of it so that was the main factor in my decision, and yes you’re correct it’s 200 e 100 c and 50 p… what is the real difference between using the mix vs cypionate alone? i couldn’t necessarily find any negative reports against it? other than the different esters

LuckierSquare's picture

yeah that’s what i’m doing all the research i’ve done seems to suggest every 3rd day rather than 2x a week because then there’s an uneven amount of time between doses so to keep my shit level as possible i’ll be doing that

LuckierSquare's picture

so wouldn’t pinning every 3rd day rather then let’s say monday and thursday, since there is an uneven amount of days in between, (pin monday, then there’s tuesday wed inbetween totaling 2 days, then pin thurs which leaves fri sat sunday totaling 3 days in between until monday again?) make more sense then? being that im keeping everything in a more even flow? how would you ideally pin it if not this way?

Makwa's picture

Monday morning and Thursday evening. Pin 7am monday morning and 7pm Thursday evening. Problem solved.

LuckierSquare's picture

wow you’re a genius what a simple solution lmao i never thought about that, seems solid enough this is what i believe i’ll be doing!

Pale's picture

Welcome to eroids but slow down. Test is best...

LuckierSquare's picture

lol thanks… i was under the impression i was taking it easy , may i ask why the opposition to sust vs e or c alone?

Pale's picture

Sustain is an unstable experience for a beginner.

Sam I Am's picture

Sust needs to be pinned more often and the esters can be tricky. E and C are the right place to start.
