What are the cycle logs for?

ad

Repeatedly I see guys posting cycles they've already started in the cycle logs that seem to be posting them "to share their experience" rather than seek advice or assistance. As a community we tend to treat the cycle logs and the steroid cycles pages in exactly the same way.

Are they the same thing though?

I'm not sure they are or it was ever intended to be that way. We certainly act as though they are, even though duplication would be pointless. I believe a lot of members see it as "a log" as the name suggests, where they can set out what they're running and add updates so other can see how it worked out for them. Quite often they simply aren't asking for help, they are already in the "know what I'm doing category" and simply sharing their experience. Look through some of the recent logs, some. just aren't interested in changing their cycle.

Take this lad as an example.

So this opens up another debate, should we approach it differently? They're at it anyway, what's the point in trying to talk someone out of it 3 or 4 weeks into an overly complex cycle? If they want critique, give it to them. If they're using the log just "as a log", do we change our stance? What about if it's utterly ridiculous, almost to the point of dangerous? Should it be deleted? Should they share their experience?

So what's the difference? Do we need more clarity? Do we change the way we council / guide those requesting help compared to those that aren't asking, just telling us "I'm running this"? I know if someone's pm's me to say "I'm running this" then I say fine, enjoy. If they ask me how to improve it, what I would do differently I give them my opinion. I see no point imposing my opinion on those that are non receptive in the first place.

I'd like to see the cycle logs become a pool of solid information or others to learn from. Look at Humpnpump's recent log, (hope you don't mind being the example, you get a gold star), that's something people will learn from for the future. That, for me is what it should be or at least become. It's not, for my money, the same as the "steroid cycles" pages.

Interested in how everyone perceives the two sections, quite possibly very different to my view.. Some mod opinion would be good here too in terms of potential change / ideas / logistics of clarification of its use.

I don't want to plug myself, but I posted this a while back:

Post your logs before you start

Hey everybody, just wanted to make a note of something I've noticed more and more often recently. A lot of guys are posting their logs the day they start their cycle (first pin), or after they've bought their gear. Consider the cycle log as a proving ground of your ability to write a proper cycle. When you post your proposed cycle up as you start it, there is much less time to correct any issues with it. The entire goal of this site is the safe use of AAS, and trust me, whenever you see a high level member shitting on a horrible cycle, it's in the posters best interests.

The bottom line : Post your cycles up well ahead of time, this allows any flaws to be smoothed out, as well as give you time to acquire different compounds should need be.

We really want people to cycle safely, that can't be done unless you post your cycle!

It boils down to perception IMHO. Most people that have been around forums a while know what the logs are for, but then you get the noobs that just don't get it and some just posting logs in hopes to get karma points.
Maybe the mods can put a sticky at the top of the cycle logs with a brief description on what to do and what the logs are for.

I dunno. I would just rename the cycle log pages "proposed cycles" to give some clarity that those pages are for critique on cycle plans before execution so that the member can refine or even change his plans depending on goals and experience and community input.

I don't see much value in the cycle log pages where inexperienced or under aged members catalog drugs they are running that are completely inappropriate in a number of differing dimensions and then leave a bunch of botched junk in the eroids archives for others that lack knowledge and experience to look at as a reference.

I think the log pages or whatever we want to call them should after a number of iterations and community and member input contain at the end sanitized well constructed cycles that can serve as reference material.

"then leave a bunch of botched junk in the eroids archives for others that lack knowledge and experience to look at as a reference."

That's exactly what I think we need to get away from G. Use the steroid cycles page in the forums for that to iron out plans but keep the logs as a point of reference, it could become a great little archive. Not sure how that would work logistically mind you.....
