pain during squats?
I might be worrying about nothin, but figured I would ask... Sat I was doin squats and nothin major, I had 275lb and was on the 9th rep, I was doin 10, and I had a sharp pain on my left side just below my waist line. I racked the weight and had to walk around for a min, It was kind of a burning type pain that felt about the size of a 1/2dollar. It lasted for 3 or 4 min and went away. I went heavier and on 3rd rep it hurt again not as bad as the 1st time though. I racked the weight and took off weight. unless I wud really push, it didnt bother me... Today it feels fine? I was worried it could be beginning of hernia? and thinkin I should keep squats and deads on the not so heavy side for a couple weeks, then try to push again? Any thoughts?

If you see a lump in your lower abdomen you should defiantly see a doctor. Make sure your breathing out, going up w the weight! Hope u feel better bro
CleyonI gotta tell you, I get what seems to be the exact same pain everytime I up the weight on my squats. 90% of the time it's in my left leg, but sometimes I get it in both. It's never in my right only.
Squatrack has it right about the foam rollers, those things are amazing.
If it is the IT band, foam rollers will help. Use them pre or post squats. I like to use them after squats before I stretch at the end.
"Burning pain"....What you described was one of the most common injuries I would see in the army. I want you to look up (IT band or ITB. Its a band that runs on your outside leg from upper hip to the lateral knee. Think of this thick tissue as your body natural sway bars(like on a pick up truck). The quads and hammies are HUGE group of muscles and need this band for stability in movement.
1: drop the weight. You need some serious stretching(ITB stretches google)
2. IMO....ibuprofen 800mg x's2-3 daily is the best.
3. GIVE IT A REST, LET YOUR BODY DO ITS THING. IT already gave you a warning.
Hopefully this is all it may be...get better bro
6 ...out
