Long Term Testosterone Use to heal injuries
ad
I'm curious if anyone has taken long term testosterone to heal up injuries but without hitting supraphyisological numbers, just higher than normal? I curious about trying this out because doctors really can't do shit for my condition (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and the chronic pain I feel everyday is pretty unbearable. I'm concerned about long term effects and know I would need to get blood work done to make sure everything is okay (lipid profile as well as hormone panel). Would love to know peoples experiences with this. Not sure if I should have posted this here or in the over 40 trt.

Bad idea.
1. You’ll shut your system down, no guarantee it will come back.
2. Your hematocrit will go to high.
3. It will probably raise your blood pressure which could cause kidney problems.
It’s called a cycle for a reason.
True, there is always that worry anytime you shut your system down especially for that long. Would the hematocrit go that high if my testosterone was in the range of 1200-1400 for an extended period? I realize that it is normally a "cycle" but those are normally at higher doses, not an above average testosterone levels.
If it’s not your natural level then it’s a cycle, because your body will want an equilibrium and will just stop producing as a means to bring it down to normalcy. Now this isn’t guaranteed because everyone is different but typically any exogenous will cause some form of shut down. As for the health of this long term, like your hematocrit, it could be safe but that’s a big gamble and one you’ll probably lose, Imo unless you’re getting a lot of blood test and are okay with being completely depend on TRT for life.
Yeah, everything you are bringing up is definitely an issue and would be a chance for sure. Thanks again.
Molinin302I'm not familiar with your condition aside from what I researched just now. I'm not a physician but I would highly recommend consulting one before you consider any type of hormone therapy. The immediate red flag that jumped out to me is the vascular risks and concerns your condition presents. Couple that with possible hypertension brought on by testosterone therapy and you have a recipe for disaster. There's a few members who are much more educated than me and I'm sure would agree. Just put your health and longevity first. Best wishes my friend
Thank you for the input. I don't have that type of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. There is the vascular type that you are mentioning and I don't have that one. Mine specifically hits the ligaments and tendons and my body is at such a crazy deficit trying to heal everything I thought this might be a possibility. Thanks again.
Molinin302No problem man, since you've shared personal info I'll share some of mine. I'm 44, was on a medication that caused my total test levels to drop from 795 to 375 in just under three years. With 375 not being incredibly low, it was a fast enough drop to cause some severe personal problems in my life. TRT was a godsend. If your hormone levels are within normal range, and considering the reasons why you're interested in this route of therapy I'd have to recommend against it. I was ok with the treatment as my levels would just continue to drop and my quality of life would deteriorate further. I'm signed up for life now in simplest words. Hormone therapy is a game changer for many, but unfortunately it's not the avenue you want to go down at this point in time. Hope this helps in some way, best wishes.
Thanks for the personal story man. I don't have huge issues with testosterone but my pain is pretty unbearable and I'm on disability. I don't want to live like this. It is similar to your state in that you watched your quality of life deteriorate just like mine. To give you an idea it is hard to sit through a dinner and I'm in bed a large amount of the day. I know I don't want to add problems but I am trying to think outside the box on this one because the situation necessitates it unfortunately. Thanks for the reply and I'm really happy your life is better man. Love to hear that.
Maybe HGH?
That is a possibility but I have tried HGH for about 3 months or so and didn't see any drastic changes. I definitely would have to try and take both at the same time. It is definitely a lot for the body to deal with. Thanks man.
