+ 8 I guess this will piss some people off, but...

ad

I'll make this as short as possible.

There are some folks giving out cycle advice that look like they've never been shown how to train, never been shown how to diet, and never should have touched gear.

I understand folks have injuries and surgery and setbacks. I know a lot of folks here aren't body builders, my self included. I know we have some power lifters here too. I'm not talking about those folks. I'm talking about the guys giving advice on tren and mast and primo, when their body fat is clearly 20%+. The guys that think that because they've been on this site and a few others for a long time that they are somehow qualified to dish compounds and protocol advice.

I'll be the first to tell you that I don't give a lot of cycle advice. I can't take someone somewhere I haven't been. I can talk a little about diet, a little about gear, and a ton about training. These are things I know from experience, because I have actually done these things. I've been running gear for about 2 years now, which makes me a baby compared to some here. Just because I'm on Eroids every day for hours, reading forums, commenting in SI's doesn't qualify me as a gear expert.

If you think I'm talking to you, then I am. If this pisses you off, good. Having night sweats for 3 weeks doesn't make you an expert on tren sides and dosing protocol. Stop giving parroted advice and try to stick to a fucking diet. You're gonna end up hurting somebody.

As always, these are my opinions, not facts.

When it comes to giving out advice the way I see it is if it's a compound I've personally used and have first hand experience with I'll do what I can to help out someone less knowledgable. I may know a little about other compounds I haven't used myself. Imo how can I give advice on something I've never experienced. Like I said I may know about it, but I cannot speak without experience. This is something I see daily. Someone speaking out and giving parroted advice. You can usually tell because it is always advice that's inaccurate. These are the things that gets people hurt. I do feel it is the knowledgable experienced guys obligation to say hey bro that's totally wrong advice and you need to hear what I have to say through experience or hey I can point you in the right direction. Go talk to this guy, he knows what's up. So, that's my observation, with what I see happening here on the daily.

Great post.

I'm still learning and I've learned a lot since joining eroids. I don't give much advice because I don't feel confident in doing so. I'd hate to just spew something out that I heard from someone else without knowing for a fact that it is correct. I think some people may get caught up on the "contribute to the community" thing. If a new member sees some of the comments on SI's when there's a pissing match, they may feel like it's their obligation to comment on cycles and so forth. I've seen many times where people are told "get on the forums or comment on people's cycles to help out". To me this is dangerous because not everyone is knowledgable enough to comment. I know their point is to venture out from the SI's to learn more and broaden their knowledge base, but it can give that "we expect you to do this" appearance.

I appreciate what I've learned here. Eroids is great resource.

I pretty much agree with you guys. I have only been running gear for just over two years now and every cycle of mine has been on the conservative side. I can advise newbie older dudes and that is about it. You never see me chime in on complicated cycles.

selfster19's picture

Same here......I stick to the exact same 3 compounds every blast.....and dont plan on venturing onto anymore. Some blasts ill even leave one out and stick w jus 2 of them...an maybe add var. Other than provi vars the only oral ive ever messed wit and all I will mess wit. Only thing I adjust is my diet and rep ranges on every go round. Im not bodybuilding so I dont need to mess w growth or all them others there is out there. So all im capable of advising anyone about is very limited. And im cool wit that I dont need to posting all this and that in the forums.....especially about anything I dont know facts about. All I can tell about is my personal experiences.

A huge amount of the cycle advice dished out these days is from people that have run 2 or 3 cycles. Go read the cycle logs. In the majority of cases I'm sure with good intentions, but it's hugely misguided to think you're in a position to counsel anyone with such limited experience.

My view on this doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but in my eyes it's simple. Everyone, no matter how experienced they are should only advice on what they REALLY know.

Good post mate +2

Well said. These are drugs that are barely studied amongst the medical community. Everyone is so cavalier giving cycle advice, not thinking that someone else may take that as gospel.

Everyone has a duty to themselves to gain as much knowledge on something before putting it into their body. Some of that is gathered through the experience of others and the rest through as much published literature as possible. Really have to be selective when gathering people's experiences to reference against.

There are certain "taboo" things that I'd never think about giving advice to anyone online. I'd wouldn't feel comfortable given some of the negatives involved. But same case can be made for some of the more harsh steroids & advanced cycles.

NoWeakAces's picture

wny, I agree completely. I have read a ton of literature and listened to a lot of guys on these forums talk about cycles and compounds, but the most I have learned is from my own experience. The reactions and results people have from using gear are as different as the people themselves.

Even though I was told about the anxiety and irritability that can accompany some compounds, I didn't REALLY understand until I was actually experiencing some of it. Even though I had read about the cystic acne that can come with Test, I didn't REALLY understand until my back looked like I fell in to a hornet's nest. And so on, and so on...

Catalyst's picture

Own experience varies so much too. There are some compounds I know really well and can help the majority of people on here to get the most out of. Other drugs, such as Primo for example, all I can show is how to cock it up! The end result is if someone comes to me asking about Primo, I point them in a better direction. Want to build a deca run? Pull up a seat.

selfster19's picture

Exactly why I dont give out cycle advice or post this and that......im still learning myself. One day when I feel I know enough ill put up somthing for others.....but what I do already know has been covered already in the forums time after time and probly explained alot better than I could have in all honesty. But when im asked a question if its something I dont know I just refer someone to them that can give em a better answer than myself......if I know the answer ill break it down to them.

I understand but there is another side to it also. I was a high jumper in my youth. My coach never high jumped in his mf life but he still had knowledge enough to make me the #1 high jumper in my county. Or look at doctors. Some are in awful health, my gf's dad is a 350lb Dr., but they still have the knowledge regardless of what their personal health situation is. There are plenty of other similar situations. You can't look at a person and tell what knowledge is in their head.

shawn0712's picture

Doctors say, 60% of the time it works every time....
It can honestly go both ways. Viking once said those that can't do teach. I've known a few people in many walks of life like that. They can tell you exactly how to do something, and be completely correct, but any time they put their hands on it, they fuck it up.
But I know you're speaking about a specific group of people, and there's a ton of them. The parroted info is great for certain things. The truth is, there's a time and place for the box. The box is safe and allows us to learn our bodies and how they react. At some point, we all stray a bit from the box and discover a little bit more.
And half the advice being thrown out there by some of the ones you're speaking of never even touch the box....

Im gonna play devil's advocate here. I don't necessarily think one should base who they take cycle advise from by appearance. A friend of mine is fairly large, about ~250lbs at the moment and is always lean, rarely above 10%bf, yet when it comes to putting together cycles or even a diet for that matter, he's fuckin clueless. Luckily he has insane genetics on his side. If he were on here and posted pics, people would flock to him for advice not knowing he doesnt know his ass from a hole in the wall.

Im currently -20%bf. In the last couple years Ive been as low as about 9% as well. Im in "good shape" for maybe 3 months of the year. Why? Well I'm not a bodybuilder and my life doesnt allow me to be consumed by this lifestyle 365 days of the year. Ive ran lots of compounds including tren, which I love, and I would say I have decent AAS knowledge. However You wont catch me giving anything more than basic cycle info. Im certainly no expert.

What Im gonna ask is this. If today I gave some advise while im a chubby 20%bf, why would that be less credible than if I gave the same advise while I was 10%bf?

Another thing I want to mention, which I'll likely catch some flak for, is that I don't really think people should take too much cycle advise from others' at all. Sure I agree with the test only first cycle protocol but past that YOU have to figure out what works best for YOU and the only way you're gonna figure that out is trying different things. Why take cycle advise from someone else who has no idea how your body is going to react?

Let me say first, I agree with you. And without rereading my post, I'm guessing I put too much emphasis on appearance = knowledge. That was only a small part of my point but I easily digress.

I guess in my mind, steroids equal 2 things: performance and/or appearance. Probably something else should go there but it's been a long week and my brain is a bit fatigued. Since this is the interweb, when it comes to being qualified to dispense knowledge, we all have credentials and none us have credentials. What that means is, appearance is unfortunately about my only gauge, and even then, you might not be you. LOL

So to answer your question, yes, I am more likely to be open minded listening to you at 9% bf, just as I would take tanning advice from a tan person, beauty advice from someone good looking and medical advice from a fit doctor as opposed to a fat one.

Wow! I was gone a while and wondered what ever happened to Perses. A lot of people were on his jock back when, he was considered to be an authority lol. Even became a source and sold me fake dbol that bastard lol

LMAO, Reminds me of when I was really young, I had a doctor who smoke like a chimney. Pretty much a walking oxymoron.

Yeah, the shit some of these guys recommend, or say is ok, holy shit. I remember there was a guy running compounds at close to 40% BF, having issues, and they ended up recommending more compounds to the guy in a heartbeat...

Then you also have the "personal prophets" who tell people that because they did X and Y, that everyone who does X and Y will also experience the same exact results. And if you do X and Y and don't experience the same results, you're a "___________" your choice of derogatory expletive.

And I guess they do it to try to sound good, or.. hell, I don't know. I just smh and move on.
