What supplements do you guys take on the daily for overall health. I’ve had to put my life on hold in terms of gym and work because of an autoimmune disease so I’m looking to see if anyone else has something similar and how you work around it and what you take. Not remotely interested in taking aas again until this has been on the back burner.

General health huh?...
Complex carbs
Clean, not processed proteins
Plenty of fish, omega3, healthy fats
Fresh fruits, veggies, salads w/ low fat dressings
Cheeseburgers and sweet fries on Saturday
Cardio lift cardio lift.....
Multi vitamin liver support fish oil....floss teeth twice a day,..
Water water water....
A clean diet and workout regiment with proper hydration and sleep is the BEST way to “stay healthy “,..all the otc stuff is ok but won’t compare to a fit cardio ready in tune immune system type body....
Absolutely take some supplements if they compliment your diet and workout routine, just don’t rely on them to take place of the benefits of running or lifting or dieting....
Be proactive and not reactive...stay on top of your health goals first!...anything after that is just gravy on the steak or frosting on the cake as it were...
It would probably help us more if you stated which one you have, there are around 14 common ones when I've just done a search - Don't worry we are all friends on here and no one will judge you for it :-))
This is just a list of things I take to 'try' and stay healthy whilst on steroids:
2 Teaspoons Fish/Cod liver oil
1g Vitamin C
TUDCA
Nac
Glutamine
Potassium
Magnesium
Sometimes I forget to take certain things every single day, but I figure trying to keep up with it all daily is better than doing nothing at all
AnonFriend all the guys that have autoimmune issues. They will have your answers from first hand experience.
7 grams of fish oil
5000 units of vitamin D
300 mg of b6
My wife has hashimoto's.
All of this, I would also add a freeze dried greens supplement too. Plus perhaps a supplement like Curcumin/Turmeric extract that helps control overall bodily inflammation.
Tried a green supp from my protein before and it made me violently ill, thought I had food poisoning so tried a few weeks later and same happened. Something in it really doesn’t agree with me
Uufff Bloody hell - I wonder which ingredient caused that? It must be something you are allergic to
I use loads of their stuff and always been okay touch wood ....
Whats up brother good to have you. I've got an autoimmune disease as well and from the looks of it you're keeping that information close to the chest, and its understandable. If you are looking for an amazing clean diet take a look at the write up I did on meal prep which I added pictures of as well. This is perfect for me with my autoimmune BS as well. And I'm not sure if you've done a food diary yet but do that, start now. Took me almost 2 years to get a solid base on do's and don't's when it came to my diet. After it almost killed me and I gained some of the weight back from dropping 60 lbs (4.25 stone) in 4 months I had to take some time as well. Pardon the language but this is going to fuckn blow brother, and will be the hardest thing you do trying to get back to a normal state. Anything these guys say to you on what "supplements" they take won't be of much help or contribution for you. I could write out all the supplements I do take every day but thats specific to me with my condition. I hope this makes sense and you can grasp what I'm trying to say here. But my biggest suggestion is to start with a good multivitamin. Chances are your body is in serious need of basic nutrients for it's wellbeing. But buy the small bottle of anything you buy, because your body might hate a few before it finds one it gets along with and then add from there. once I knew my body could handle one compound I'd introduce another and see what worked and what didn't. Its going to take a while but you will get there.
I do agree with Vengar as well. Stay away from the supplements that stimulate an immune system response. I found that out the hard way because I didn't have people like these to give me that great advice out the gate. But I also want you to know that some of those specific supplements may work for you. Its really hit or miss brother and I know it's frustrating and will be for a while.
Finally get your T lvls checked and full blood workup. I found this out later that pre autoimmune disease my bloods were great and I was lvl across the board. post my T had dropped to the low 100s at 25 years old... Not cool. and they refused to put me on any type of TRT due to my age saying that it would eventually balance back out. To which I said "fuck that!!!" and put myself on a regiment and started this wonderful journey. You may have had them checked but some docs won't check certain things or just give you the thumbs up even when they are much lower then normal for you.
So my suggestion in turn being-
1) Get your blood checked out (everything)
2) Start a food diary today
3) Get a multivitamin and start testing (Just cuz its expensive doesn't mean it the best and won't ruin your day)
4) GET YOUR DIET ON POINT
5) Keep lifting and pushing yourself to find the motivation (Your mind is a huge part in this brother keep it strong)
6) Introduce new foods and new supplements slowly and never at the same time
Best I could do brother I'm sorry you're feeling like shit. You got this. If you need anything at all please feel free to PM me and we can go over my supplements or diet in detail... It might help who knows with these bull shit autoimmune diseases. Be easy.
Awesome response brother and I’m glad your on eroids ++
I really appreciate that brother thank you. I'm really glad to be here.
Did you ever do a food allergy blood test?
I did a food allergy test and what's called a food tolerance test as well. No allergies and only negligible tolerance issues. Which makes sense because they were all in the blood and or just under the skin. Which with crohn's it didn't make a difference because my body wasn't actively trying to digest and pull nutrients from. But I'm not going to lie I was really hoping it was something obvious like the Ex wife. The moment she got stuck with any form of gluten it was a quick and obvious reaction.
Like I've said before my wife has hashimoto's and my best friends wife has crohns. The crohn's has tried to kill her a couple of times. Your input on these issues are appreciated, I really believe alot of people have these problems and dont know what it is. +1
Brother I agree with you 100% and often they are misdiagnosed. Celiac and UC almost killed my ex wife when she was a baby. They had no idea why she had a massive distended belly and was always sick when she was breast feeding. Came from a huge Italian family so a shit load of gluten all day every day you know. And took almost 10 months to figure it out. Once her mother went gluten free while feeding her, she was fine... The body is an amazing thing. And autoimmune diseases are a garbage part of it.
Eaa
Fish oil
Glutamine
Daily’s
Multi and fish oil.
I have an autoimmune disease. DO NOT TAKE any supplements that stimulate the immune system (i.e probiotics, glutatmine, turmeric, zinc) I don't give a fuck what this guy says below me, those supps will MAKE YOUR CONDITION WORSE. Same goes for insoluble fiber and other foods that are hard to digest like gluten, dairy, grains and nuts. Be careful who you follow on this site.
I'm really starting to think that gluten ( leaky gut syndrome) is 90% cause of all this shit!
Ok, even though I said make sure u run any supps by ur doc,, I could understand fiber and probiotics,, But cld u follow up on why turmeric, glutamine, and magnesium are bad? I only ask because my grandfather is on some of this with his issue.
Tumeric:: a great anti-inflammatory
Glutamine:: helps rebuild gut cell lining
Magnesium:: immune support system,, in which it's
deficiency can cause inflammation flare ups especially from working out..
Tumeric:: It has what is called Curcumin as a main component. which is also in most Currys. Which even in small doses is extremely effective in activating T cells and produce a change in the immune systems response. When changing the way the immune system is functioning while it's not in the middle or starting a flare it could possibly initiate the onset of one. But I will say that I've taken it during a flare and it did help a lot to initiate a different response and ended my flare much sooner meaning I didn't have to take a shit load of prednisone for too long. But post flare I always stopped taking it.
Glutamine:: One of its main jobs in the body is to fuel your immune system. Which is everything from white blood cell production to activating certain intestinal cells. Both of which are not great when your body is constantly trying to fight itself.
Magnesium:: Helps keep the immune system extremely strong. Which in general is a good thing. But with an autoimmune disease it can also strengthen its negative response as well, causing or during a flare. I do take Magnesium every day though. Because my body is so deficient on it due to not being able to get it from the foods I eat. But I take it in very small doses.
Hope this is what you were looking for and helps brother. Keep your grandfather strong and Killin it.
Thanks bro for enlightening.. I apologize for putting in my two sense on a subject I don't have personal experience in.. My granddad has ibs and he's the one who turned me onto turmeric and magnesium, mainly because of his experiences with them, but it was for my conditions of arthritis and tendinitis.. His ibs is not something we talk about too much other than him always bitching about his young ass doctors. He's old school, hates medicine, and tends to travel natural remedies till he cant. lol.
Anyway, point is taken.. Even something as simple as otc supplement talk can have serious consequences especially when a medical condition is involved..
I also wanted to add something after reading this again. Just because YOU do not have an autoimmune disease does NOT mean your life isn't affected by one. 'Loved' one's are the reason most of our worlds go round. And if anyone has someone close to them that does have one then they do have experience. By adding any additional info out there to people having someone or they themselves are going thru it in my opinion is of great value. And you never know if it's something someone hasn't thought of or tried yet. Every experience is different, that's correct. But in reality here on this site, we all want what's best for one and other (after we all finish talking shit of course haha). But don't apologize for taking time out of your day to try and help a fellow brother. I have a shit load of respect for you PERIOD. The fact that you tried says a lot about the man you are. Most people don't give a fuck about helping their fellow man/woman anymore unless it benefits their agenda and hopefully one day it will change. But I want to thank you for adding to this thread and trying to help this gentleman out/educating yourself for your grandfathers benefit. Sorry for the rant, just thought it needed to be said.
Hey brother honestly no worries at all. And I'm glad that your grandfather is doing well on his current regiment. Its the best and most anyone can ask for. I'd never jump down anyones throat about information I thought was incorrect. The guys here are always truly trying to help one and other and I love and appreciate that shit more than anyone could imagine. I want to inform or help where I can as well with my life experiences/bull shit that I've been thru.
I know your grandfather is an OG but try and get him on some kind of stretching or yoga routine and get him to try and master some relaxation techniques as well. For any autoimmune disease like ours they help a fuck ton. And as far as IBS goes regulate the hell out of his fiber intake. My ex wife had celiac and IBS.... it was shitty (All the pun intended) but as a couple we rocked out the autoimmune world and really overcame a lot, which lead to a vast knowledge of ourselves and each others individual issues.
If you or your grandfather ever has any questions in those regards or anything else brother don't hesitate to shoot me a message and ask. I don't mind at all. Be easy and stay strong!!!
Smart man. Thank you for this^^^
Now first, u have to get any supplements approved by ur doc! I would believe ur diet needs to be very clean rich in nutrients would be top priority.. Ur gut bacteria plays an important role here. Then maybe some of these supplements..
Probiotics, turmeric Curcumin, fiber, L-glutamine, magnesium
They don’t offer advice on anything and certainly not here say products like bpc. Curcumin I now have and will start taking with glutamine, probiotics are rarely any good and are destroyed before they can do what they are supposed to. Vsl#3 was due to be made available on nhs but not sure why it hasn’t happened
Animal Pak vitamins
MSM
Glucosamine
Chondroitin
Chromium picolinate
Berberine
Omega 3: 1000mg of EPA and DHA in total
Citrus Bergamont
CoQ10
Vitamin K2
NAC
Astragalus root
A fiber supplement
